I was up to my ears in leaves in Sherwood Forest over the weekend. It is a real problem for short long eared hounds in the forest! What is a dog to do?
Today, Iβm joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop sponsored by BlogPaws! Donβt forget to stop by and visit some new blogs for fun!
We love those long hound dog ears, though they do create some issues! π
The latest thing was with Madison in the weave poles at agility class. The instructor said Madison keeps turning her head at each pole. Turns our, her ears wrap around the pole as she passes, causing the head turn, LOL!
Lol…so cute. I bet those leaves smelled good too.
Lots of good critter smells in these leaves!
We get lots of ear infection when they drag on the city streets. Do you have ticks?
We all wear tick protection but now and then one of those nasty creatures still manages to hang onto us. Usually Mom sees them walking on our furs looking for a spot and gets them before they have time to even think. My ears drag a lot so I have to get the bottom part washed but with our ear cleaner we don’t get infections anymore.
We bring in lots of weeds and small branches on our ears and legs. So much fun having Mom take them off!
We have lots of that stuff in the house because it attaches so nicely to our furs. Unfortunately so do burrs and they are painful to get out. Madison had a huge clump of them in her beard yesterday. There was a big fight between Mom and Madison trying to get them out. Mom won.
That photo is darn cute but scattering the leaves around would be fun too!
Wowza!!
Lotsa leaves!
You look lovely in the leaves. I love that you are in Sherwood Forest! Have you seen any Merry Men?
Nope. Just random squirrels and an occasional deer.
We think the leaves really accent your furs, Emma!

I should always live in fall it looks good on me.
Looks fun, but itchy!
No itchy at all. My furs keep that from happening. I did have a lot of leaves stuck to my furs, though.
Thatβs a lotta leaves! Love those hound-dog ears of yours!
Gramma has so many leaves it is crazy, but she lives in the forest, so it is to be expected.
What a gorgeous autumn photo! I’ve read that long ears help dogs to follow scents more easily. That must be why you and your sister are nosework superstars!
They don’t help as much in nose work as in tracking. When we have our nose down, the ears fall forward and funnel the scent into our nose which makes us better sniffers. Bailie does a lot of ground work in nose work to locate where odor is coming from, but not all odor is found there, so she still does air scenting and general searching.
Great photo and caption! Enjoy the fall leaves.
