Have you ever had Lamb Poppers? New Year’s Eve is this weekend, the humans typically eat a fancy meal. Why not make up something special for your pup? My New Year’s Eve Lamb Poppers are easy to make, and your dog will love them! I named them Poppers because the top pops up when they are baked, and dogs will pop them into their mouth in one fell swoop.
In my recipe, I chose to use lamb because we love it, although you could substitute any ground meat your dog loves. You’ll also need a sweet potato, egg, carrots, and parsley. I prepared the delicacies in small muffin tins, but you could use regular muffin tins if your dog is larger.
First off, I mixed the egg into the ground lamb until it was completely blended. It seems to work better if you use your paws rather than a spoon. I mashed the sweet potato with a fork, and had my mom grate a carrot for me.
Next up, you need to grease your muffin tins, and press a small amount of the meat mixture into the bottom of the tin and up the sides. Add a dollop of the sweet potato, and top that with some carrots. Seal the deal with another small amount of the ground meat mixture over the top. My photo shows each stage of the process so you can see how it looks.
Because my store only had 3/4 lb of lamb, I wasn’t able to make all twelve, but if you have a full pound it would work much better, and fill all twelve cups. I also added a bit more parsley to the tops for decoration.
These tasty morsels will hang out in the oven for half an hour, and when they come out, guess what? Yep! The tops will be popped up! Pretty cool, isn’t it?
After removing them from the pan and cooling it was time to plate them up. You can see in the photo how they popped up on top.
While I was cleaning up the kitchen, there was an attempted attack by the cat burglar in the house. It is imperative you keep a close eye on the Lamb Poppers at all times because they are good enough to steal!
Finally I got to pop a Popper into my mouth, and I loved it! My expression in the first photo in this post pretty much says it all!
Why not make some tasty Poppers for your pup this New Year’s Eve? My recipe is available here if you would like to make these at your house. Enjoy, and Happy New Year!
Holy Batman those are amazing! Too bad we donβt have any stores that carry lamb meat here they all have to order it if I want it. Have a great weekend and Happy New Year
Got any ground venison in your freezer??? Any ground meat works.
Since Katie can only eat venison or duck I can make these. See will be happy. Happy New Year to the entire family!
We actually looked for venison, but the store didn’t have any. Enjoy the poppers and have a wonderful New Year’s weekend.
These look great! Mom is being really careful with my food lately .. she isn’t sure we can make these, but she says she will find something we can make! Have a great day Emma. These pictures are awesome. Your doodle friend, Dash
I’m sure after the latest health incident you are much more careful. These should be safe for most dogs as you can use any protein you want, it doesn’t have to be lamb, but be careful, and follow your diet. Happy New Year’s weekend!
I hope you all have a poppin’ good new years eve!!!!
You kitties too. Don’t over do it on the nip!
Hope you have a great New Year!
Wishing you and your family a wonderful New Year as well.
Another great recipe!
I try to only cook and bake super good stuff since I want to love it myself π
How cool is it that they pop up like that? Those look fun and yummy too. I’ve never cooked with lamb because I don’t like it myself but I bet the dogs would love it.
So sorry for the issues you’re having getting our emails. I tried unsubscribing and resubscribing you directly through my blog, and we’ll see if maybe that does the trick.
We feel bad because we miss half of your posts. We get random emails about new posts. Mom won’t eat lamb either, but she makes it for us because it is good and we love it, plus it keeps her from eating our treats!
We have some turkey that Mom can use and just leave out the sweet potatoes. (I’m allergic) See you on New Year’s Eve! XXOO Bentley
Wow! Never heard of anyone not being able to eat sweet potatoes! Maybe you could substitute something else, more veggies or something. See you in 48 hours roughly π
Wow, those look so good. I suspect my husband would like them as much as Honey would.
He might find them a bit bland with parsley being the only spice, but who knows!
I have to say that those poppers sound fabulous! They actually share a lot of things with the homemade food that we cook for R! It would be easy to make a few when we make his food! Enjoy!
They are fun and fabulous! Very basic, but super tasty! Enjoy!
Both of mine love lamb so those would probably be great. Have a terrific weekend:)
You might want to make the regular muffin size with the Newfies!
Those look tasty!
They are so yummy, I tried to get into the dishwasher to lick off the utensils!
You guys are sooooo lucky! Wish our Lady cooked!
I do the cooking around here. Mom just helps out with sharp stuff like knives and grating things. π
Holy cow…that looks totally delish!
Popped up top and the carrots look like confetti! A food party for dogs!
Those poppers look and sound great. We will have to see if Mom will make some for us too – they sure look easy to do. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year.

Hope you get some because they are delish! Happy New Year’s Eve!
