Madison tackled her first snowstorm this week and won! Last winter was a disaster, with barely any snow at all, and until this week, the most snow we got at one time was only a few inches.
Monday was our day! The snow started falling around 6 am and continued until about 10 pm. We were all home all day, and took snow breaks throughout the day to go outside and play around. By then end of the storm we had a good twelve inches of fresh, white snow.
The morning snow was fairly light, and we wondered if we would really get the big amounts they talked about.
Once the afternoon hit, the snow started to come down fast. In order to take photos, our photographer took a big umbrella out to keep her camera dry. Madison was still smiling, and playing with her stick.
As the snow piled up, little Madison had to really put a lot of effort into hopping through the deep stuff. She is pretty short, and was sinking into the snow.
Later in the day, Mom shoveled the deck and created a nice snow mound below for making a snow cave. Madison had never had a snow cave, and was real curious about what Mom was doing. The cave was dug out, and Madison posed for a photo with her first cave, in her first real snowstorm. Such a fun day for her!
If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you may have seen the best ending to our awesome snow day! I posted snow photos during the day, and our favorite weather man actually put Madison’s cave photo on the nine and ten o’clock news! Madison is now famous!
Tuesday, as we all shoveled out from the storm, Madison was out in the yard, once again blazing trails.
The little one had no fear of the deep snow that was up to her neck most of the time. She did come inside and nap after her play sessions. Hopping through the deep stuff is exhausting!
Madison tackled her first, real, big snowstorm, and definitely won. The smile on her face as she is almost buried in the snow, says it all. She is now an official Minnesota dog!
Yeah Madison! watching you tires ME out! Karen
She really wears herself out too.
ha! Madison 1 Mr. Snow 0 … that is a mighty fine snow cave… you can adopt a polar bear now, it’s the place he would love ;O)))
Katie was always our polar bear, but sadly she is no more. We will have to use the caves ourselves.
You sure gave that snow what for pretty Madison!!!
She just loves romping through it.
Hari OM
Madison, you are definitely in your element! To get on the weather picture, too – well that’s mighty fine!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
She has found a new love of snow and is feeling special she got on TV.
Great action shots, and congrats on the weather feature. That’s so awesome!. She looks like she is having a blast.
She is so fun to watch, but it just can’t be completely captured with the camera.
Madison has over been famous in our eyes.
She is still wondering why Mom woke her up out of a deep snow coma to look at the TV on Monday night, LOL!
A fun day for kids and dogs! Congrats on making the news!
Thanks! It’s fun to see your dog on the TV, kind of like seeing Emma in Target when she did modeling for them. We love the snow over here.
Wagnificient!
Congratulations Madison!
3 bum swings! 3 more!?
Pawsome pics! On the news!

Madison is one happy, lucky pup!
Great job Madison!! Pawsome you made it on TV!! ??
We are all happy for Madison. She doesn’t really understand, but one day she will.
Wow, what a blast Madison had! I’m so glad you finally got some good snow. What fun to see Madison on the news…that is definitely a great end to a fun day!!
She loves bounding through the deep snow, and it wears her out nicely too.
What fun ! I’ve “owned” Norwegian Elkhounds and remember their joy every time it snowed !
Snow is a lot of fun for so many dogs.
OMD!! Madison is a celebrity! We are sooooo proud of her. Of course, the snow cave is always one of my favorite things you do in your massive snowfalls.
We find other snow caves around on our walks. It is fun to crawl into them too.
Wow look at her go!!!! We often get your weather after you but thankfully that storm appears to have taken a different route
We are thankful the bullseye was over our house. Snow is the best!
Madison is looking to be a snow pawfessional, How pawsome to see her on the news, maybe she could be the assistant weatherpup!
xoxo,
Rosy, Arty & Jakey
She wants to be the official weather hound some day. We will see if that happens.
Looks like she had a blast!
The little one loves hopping through the deep stuff!
i love how your mom made the snow tent. Madison got lots of exercise, she looks like she had a great time.
We all get a lot of exercise. People are always amazed at our bodies because we are solid muscle. Madison is really getting an extra workout hopping through the snow being so short.
Awesome awesome shots, she was sure loving it. Love that she was on the news!
We were excited to see her on the 9 and 10 pm news.
Looks like a fun time! I love the snow cave! Rye likes to dig her own caves in the drifts that form along the fence, but we haven’t had enough while we’ve been home for her to do that yet this winter.
Snow caves are always a lot of fun. We love helping Mom dig out the cave.
So cute!! Madison looks like she’s really enjoying herself and the snow. Great action shots! I love the smile she has on the last shot.

A bit of a sinister smile, but super cute!
