Happy Dr. Seuss Day! We all love Dr. Seuss at my house. I did my take on Go, Dog, Go back in 2012, it was a lot of fun. Last year, Madison did her version of Why Am I Not Like All The Others. This year it is Bailie’s turn, and she is doing her version of The Nose Book.
According to Bailie, The Nose Book is quite interesting, but she prefers to write about her own nose experiences. Enjoy her Nose story in honor of Dr. Seuss Day!
In my life as a scent hound,
Smells always abound.
My nose is jet black,
And sharp as a tack!
I love to do all sorts,
of super fun scent sports!
I enjoy my homework,
doing nose work.
In my class at a church,
I smell the hidden birch.
Sniffing works inside,
Sniffing works outside.
Of course, being a canis,
There’s no problem finding anise.
Noses find odor upstairs,
Noses find odor downstairs.
Most often I find clove,
near the kitchen stove.
When I sniff the odor,
Itโs almost over.
My mom will blurt
The call, โAlertโ!
A tracking hound,
has her nose to the ground,
looking for articles,
scented with human particles.
When tracking in grass,
I really hit the gas.
On the concrete and asphalt,
I almost come to a halt.
Surfaces that are hard
Are more difficult than a yard.
I stop in the track,
When I find the cloth pack.
To earn my title,
This is vital.
I enjoy the opportunity to play,
In neatly arranged bales of hay.
But what is barn hunt rated,
Since I must run naked?
I go through a tunnel,
The size of a funnel,
and climb on a bale,
in order not to fail.
My job is to find the rat,
right off the bat.
When the rat is found,
I make a lot of sound.
My nose knows,
I love my nose!

Thank you. Bailie really worked hard on her rhymes.
You look totally fabulous! Happy Seuss Day everyone!!!
It’s not a top hat, but it is a goofy hat for a goofy girl.
Excellent
Thank you.
That was a fun poem. Look out for foxes in boxes and cats in hats, but try to get some green eggs and ham.
Her original idea was to do a poem called yellow eggs and bacon, but then she found the nose book and had to do nose instead.
I love that. I am a huge Dr. Seuss fan.
My mom loves it too, especially the Grinch story at Christmas.
Clapping and standing ovation!! OMCs Bailie I must admit to have some serious nose envy.
Oh to have a nose as good as yours
would make me sing a chorus!!!!
Hugs madi your kitty friend
She has a really good nose for good and for finding trouble, LOL!
Such a perfect poem/story that fits both you and Dr. Seuss!
