Bailie and Madison were staying with Mom at the Kansas City Sheraton for the BlogPaws Conference. It is a big hotel, their room was the last one at the end of a long hallway. When you first check in at a hotel, it is sometimes hard to remember where exactly your room is, and that might be what occurred with my sisters.
As they do at home, both of them assumed their Mrs. Kravitz poses to spy on anything going on outside in the city. They are not afraid of being nosy, which may be another reason why the incident happened.
During the conference, Mom had my sisters on their Umbilical Belt, their hands free leash. The leashes are about four feet long, and my sisters normally are out in front like sled dogs. Mom doesn’t mind some pulling. It was more important she had her hands free.
The short clip above from the movie, European Vacation, is what the incident I’m about to tell you about reminds Mom of.
After their walk on the first morning, the threesome was on their way back to their room. Just as they were one room away, the door from a room across the hall opened, and two people were coming out. My sisters saw this, and darted right into the room, dragging Mom behind them.
The people were caught off guard, and Mom was totally embarrassed. Thankfully, Bailie and Madison are cute, friendly, and the people liked them. There was some petting, and then Mom managed to pull them back into the hall, and they went to their own room. The people across the hall were wondering, “who were those hounds”, and Mom was wondering, “who were those people”.
During the next days, Mom and my sisters ran into these nice folks, Beth and Tom, many times, they all laughed over the incident, and told the story to lots of other attendees. Luckily, the “new friends” were also at the conference with WagTown, a nonprofit looking for “Where the wag happens.” Your source for adorable dogs, dog friendly places, and happy faces. Had they not been dog people, the whole thing could have ended poorly. My sisters made such an impression, the four posed together for a photo on the last day!
In the end, it may have all been another brilliant PR stunt from Bailie, our PR Dog. Look at the big hug she gave him before leaving for home! Mom talked to their new friends about some pet friendly things going on here in the Twin Cities, and they are going to stay in touch to share some ideas.
Mom may have been completely embarrassed, but it all ended well. Bailie got lucky with her PR move at the Kansas City Sheraton! There were no photos of the actual incident because it happened so fast, no one really knew what happened until later.
Oh NO!!! That is so funny Emma! Your wild sisters are so silly. It is a good thing are cute and that your neighbors were dog people!! Good PR work Bailie!!!! Have a great day Emma, your doodle friend Dash
Mom was mortified as it all happened so fast and she didn’t find out who the people were until later. Never a dull moment with those two.
Oh yea, Bailie sure knows how to work the PR angle!
She is good at it and has no qualms about doing anything for getting her mug out there.
that was a super pawsome pawformance… it is the way we walk (or fly) into a room what makes ya famous… ;O)))
At the moment, Mom was just mortified, but later on it was super funny. Too bad we didn’t have film of the faces on the humans involved.
Thatβs so cute, and hopefully works out well for you. That would have been Roxy and Torrey too, always running to say hello to strangers.
Mom doesn’t mind them greeting people, but running into someone’s hotel room was super embarrassing for mom.
Ha, your social sisters know how to make new friends! I remember our dogs Maggie and Kobi dragging our niece visiting us at our campground right into someone else’s campsite! They always wanted to make new friends too. π
Humans don’t handle it so well, but it all worked out in the end.
We wish we were there. Mom and I love woofies, and you all are such good woofies! And lovely to look at, too!
Thank you. We like kitties too which is good since we have two of them at home.
at least she knew dog people when she saw them!! π
Now that is a very good point.
This made me laugh so hard. I’m glad they were fellow dog lovers and since the girls are irresistible, I know it was fun for them.
π Poor Mom was just mortified! All she could think of was real life European Vacation, but my sisters thought it was no big deal. Luckily, it all worked out and we actually made new friends!
Bol, bol… dat story reminds me of when da youngest daughter went trick-r-treatin’ fur da furst time– she thawt she were on a house tour or sumthin’ cuz when dey opened da door she walked right in!! Took her a coupla houses to ree-a-lize dey wuz dere to git candy, not view houses…bol, bol.
My sisters just wanted to check out the other room and the people, but Mom clearly didn’t think it was a good idea.
BOL, dat are funny!
Later on when everyone met again not in the wrong room, Mom could finally laugh about it.
Wow Bailie, you are a definite social butterfly!!
xoxo,
Jakey, Arty & Rosy
Both my sisters are embarrassingly friendly, but you might have noticed that when you met in the furs.
Dear, sweet Bailie! All she wanted was to meet your hallway neighbors in any way she could. ?
My sisters don’t understand some humans don’t want to meet them. Luckily, these were dog folks.
OMG that’s so Amazing!! I wish I’d been there, those two are such rascals!!
We wish we had a video of it, because the look on the human faces would have been priceless! My sisters have no shame!
LOL Emma! Classic! Just like the movie π Thanks for sharing.
Ryan
Turned out to be a very good oops.
My sisters picked the right folks to “drop in” on.
