Sunday, Madison had a puppy playdate to meet a new friend. Mom took her to a friend’s house to meet Meru, an Austalian Koolie puppy. He is super cute, smart, and the humans thought it would be good socialization for both pups.
For Madison, it was extra special because she is older than Meru. At home, and almost everywhere she goes, Madison is usually the youngest. Miss Sassy Pants was very nice to her new friend, but she sure enjoyed showing him who is boss.
Evidently, Madison really learns a lot from Bailie because she used a lot of Bailie’s techniques on Meru. Take the Frisbee for example. Madison has no interest in it, but keeps it to tease Meru who really wants the Frisbee.
He had a bit of respect for Madison’s seniority right away, but was not afraid to keep on chasing her, and then wait patiently for her to give up the Frisbee.
But sometimes, she didn’t give it up, and the game of chase picked right up again.
Because of the heat and humidity, the puppy playdate was in the morning, but it was still super warm, and suffocating outside. Madison and Meru took a lot of breaks, and had plenty of water to cool off with. Both of them sure have some long tongues in this hot weather!
Here at home, Madison loves to play chase around the pine trees, but at Meru’s house, she chose the circle around the tree to play keep away!
Meru is a really handsome young fellow. Being long and lean, Madison appears super short and stocky next to him, but they fit well together.
Sometimes Madison took off on her own, running to nowhere special, just carrying one of the Frisbees.
They traded off being the chaser and the one being chased. In a way, they were quite polite with each other.
The playdate lasted just over an hour, and then it was time for Madison to head home. It was simply too hot out to play any longer. Madison managed to find some stinky old water somewhere in the yard, making her smell like an old swamp. Upon arrival at home, Mom whisked her up to the tub for a quick bath. Following the bath, Madison crawled into her favorite sleeping spot in our office, and slept for hours. One happy, but tired pup!
oh we never saw a Koolie… that was interesting!!! and it was a pleasure to see you two… maybe I will find a playmate too soon, that would be pawsome!
A Koolie is cool! Madison really enjoys playing with him.
We bet those two pups were zonked that afternoon! Awesome photos and fun puppies! Have great day. Your doodle friend Dash
Madison was down for the count as she also did a 5 mile run before the playdate, and then the heat…zzzzz
Now that is a content puppy!
She was happily exhausted, but did re energize by evening.
That was such rip runnin’ fun you two!
I bet Mr fluffy tail would love to tear around with those two, even though he is a cat!
Looks like they had a blast. And she looks worn out, which is good.
She was super worn out, but content.
Smart of the moms to arrange for playing in the morning. Our morning walks are tolerable, but in the afternoon, it’s not always pleasant when the heat and humidity roll in.
Keep cool, Emma!
The past days, even early morning walks are so warm and humid it isn’t much fun. I have been taking much shorter walks as I don’t like it at all.
It’s too bad it was so hot so the pups couldn’t play longer. But it looks like they packed in a lot of fun to that one hour!
Until today, we hadn’t been having any hot weather. And this is supposed to only last this one day. I think you’d all be happier here (right now anyway, I’m sure it will change)!
None of us enjoy the heat, but at least we have a/c to keep us cool inside.
Those two looked as if they had a blast!
The two of them are perfect friends. I’m sure they will set up another date soon.
happy dogs are tired dogs. That’s one of the things naps are for. Re-energize for more fun! Glad they had the chance in the morning. Afternoons right now can be dangerously hot!
Despite being young, they each took time to rest, drink water, hang out in the shade, and then went back at it.
this was just too adorable! I LOVE how madison picked up her techniques from her older sister!
She has a lot of Bailie in her, but genetically, she has a lot from my family tree.
So cute!!
They had a blast!
We say a tired puppy means happy siblings…at least at our house BOL!
xoxo,
Jakey and Arty
Those puppies do recharge their batteries pretty quickly though. It is amazing!
What a great play date, nice to have friends to play with.
I think they will get together more often.
It looks like they are a perfect match for playing! I’m glad Madison got to have a fun playdate.
Hopefully she will see more of Meru with Bailie out of commission.
