Last weekend, Mom and I took a road trip to Davenport, Iowa for my NW3 Trial. We both had real high hopes for a successful trial. Going in I had a chance to bring home three titles, but in the end I came home with one. We are both a bit disappointed, but one ribbon is something to be thankful for.
Last week, I wasn’t my usual self even before we left for Iowa. Mom thought it was the heat and humidity, and didn’t worry much about it. At my trial, I wasn’t my usual enthusiastic self. It was a chore just to get me to the search area, and then Mom had to almost pull me around in a few searches. I was happy to be doing nose work, but I wasn’t on task as always. After we got home, Mom realized I had a skin rash in a “sensitive area” between my back legs. That explains why I wasn’t into walking. I’m doing much better now.
I did find eight of the ten hides, but my searches were not pretty, and Mom doesn’t want to even post videos because it is not the usual Emma searching. Thankfully, I did pass the vehicle element, with three vehicles, and one hide. This was my third time, which means I earned my NW3-V Title.
See the vehicle in the middle? The hide was a simple license plate hide on that car. By coincidence, Mom put my face right on the license plate with her hands because I was not searching, but I didn’t alert to the odor. We went all the way around the car an on the second pass I found it. That is how off I was.
I have a photo of all the searches and the hides. I found the three exterior hides, but kept one of them to myself. I missed one in the third interior room, but I passed vehicles and containers.
It’s been a year since I earned a nose work title, so I am pretty happy to have another title. Mom and I will keep on trying, but Bailie got the spots in the next two trials. She has more luck getting in than I do lately. As long as I am having fun, and enjoy nose work, I will keep on trying!

I’m feeling better now, but it sure hit at a bad time.
I hope you are feeling better. One title is excellent. Toning to sneeze at
No, I’m proud of it, but it was not how I wanted to end the trial. Maybe next time will run better.
One title is better than none! BIG congratulations!!! especially working under duress
Considering I didn’t feel well, it was a good performance, but tough for both of us.
I’m sorry about the rash. You can’t be chipper when your skin hurts or burns. You’ll do better next time. Emma
I tried to be happy, but it was not really possible a lot of the time.
We are so proud of you, Emma! You are always #1 with me. XXOO Bentley β₯
Thank you. I’m happy about it, but I wish I had done better. I love the sport so much, but I didn’t feel good.

Congratulations on another title!
Thank you. It was not a pretty one, but it is a title.
We love your attitude Emma! It is all about the fun and Mama time. Ribbons are just a fringe benefit!

Mom is really into the ribbons, I just enjoy the sport.
Congratulations on your new title! We’re sorry that rash was bothering you and put a damper on your weekend. Glad you are feeling better though!
I have always been a drama queen which makes a small issue into a mountain.
Congrats on your title, Emma. I’m so glad that your mom figured out why you weren’t yourself. Heal fast, sweet girl.
I’m doing much better. It just took a few days of Mom helping me out with caring for the area.
Well done with the nose work, in spite of your trials.
Thank you. Considering I wasn’t feeling right, I did pretty well.
Huge congrats!
It wasn’t all we hoped for, but I’m happy to have at least the one title.
