Madison turned two on Friday, which means we had one serious hound celebration! Mom and I were in charge of party planning, but the birthday girl felt the need to be there to make sure we didn’t miss anything she had asked for. Being our pink girl, pink was the main color, and she also had a little bling here and there to spice things up.
Baking the birthday cake was my department. Madison wanted liver, but we had liver cake last year. Finally, we decided on a coconut cake with some freeze dried liver pieces in the batter. I’m not posting the recipe as it really didn’t turn out as I wanted it to. It was rather dry and crumbly, but the taste was fine. Coconut flour makes baking difficult as it tends to dry things out.
The young ones always have trouble waiting to eat the cake, and open their gifts. Madison is no different. She does know we have to do some photos, but she wanted the photographer to hurry up!
We all sat down and howled the traditional birthday tunes. I know the neighborhood always enjoys hearing us all sing loudly, and proudly. Mom doesn’t bother to sing because no one could hear her anyway.
The cake was served, and we all dove right in. It was amazing, Madison pretty much inhaled her cake! Having the food snob love something so much is a real compliment to the chef (that would be me, Chef Emma)!
Opening gifts was the next activity. I am a slow eater, so Madison opened my gift while I was still eating my cake. I ordered her a Birthday Goody Box from Chewy.com. Tomorrow I will post more about that.
Bailie went shopping, and decided to get Madison a new bunny. This one is not brown like the others we have, but it does have embroidered eyes, nose, etc, so it is a safer toy. The little guy has a squeaker too.
Mom’s gift was so embarrassing! I think she is getting old. Poor Madison got panties from Mom! I mean sure she needs some new ones, but really not a fun birthday gift when you are two. Madison did a good job of trying to look happy about it. On the bright side, Mom did get her a barn hunt practice session Saturday morning, which is a much better present!
Madison was so crazy about her cake, she refused to leave it alone which is not like her at all! When Mom was cleaning up after the party, she left some things on the table outside for a couple minutes. The next time she came out, Madison actually eating the cake right off the cake stand!
All in all it was a fun day for us all, but especially for Madison. Bailie received a bit more freedom, and is allowed to be in the yard with Madison for short time periods, if supervised. They are both happy about that!
Don’t forget to enter the Breakfast Buffet Trio Giveaway if you haven’t already done so!
That sure sounds like a terrific party and no wonder Madison couldnβt leave the cake alone, Iβm sure it was quite yummy!
She really enjoyed…like almost the entire cake!
You guys really know how to party!!
With so many birthdays, we get a lot of practice.
oh what a party! you know how to celebrate the best birthdays. can you be my birthdayplanner please?
You and your brother should come over to my party next month, but please don’t get too wild.
What a fun party and great presents, except maybe for Mom’s. Does Madison still have accidents and needs panties? They are pretty
No, but she isn’t spayed, so sometimes she has to wear panties.
Emma. your cake was a hit – maybe is just needs a little adjustments to be perfect!
It needs more moisture. Maybe I will play with the recipe another time, but Madison was pleased with it anyway.
What a great party! Your cake sure was a hit with Madison, Emma, and that’s the important thing; even if you weren’t thrilled with how it came out.
Madison’s panties sure are pretty though, so if she has to wear them, at least she’ll be stylish! We’re sure the barn hunt session is more what she wanted though! π
She loved her cake and that is what is important. She will need the panties once a year when she is in heat, but still, really…not a good gift.
Why do Mamas always insist on buying us clothes?? Sheesh! We are glad Madison will also get a Mama and Madison day barn hunting!
Great job on that cake Emma, it looks delish!

Clothes are not so bad, but panties is pretty bad. Madison didn’t seem to mind. Bailie and I would have protested.
