I have a dozen years to be thankful for during my birthday week. Not every dog has a wonderful life, but so far, I’ve been blessed with pretty much everything a dog could need. Today, I will share some of the highlights from each of my dozen years with you.
0-1:ย I’m thankful to have been born, and that my mom found my breeder in England. It was an amazing first year leaving my dog family, moving to Germany, and to the USA all before I turned one!
1-2: My sister Katie and I were an amazing sister duo. We took our move to the US in stride, and loved our new home with a fenced yard for us to play in! It was my first real winter, and I fell in love with cold and snow.
2-3: This year was pretty uneventful. We did do our first family Christmas Card photo shoot with our new kitty siblings Bert and Sophie.
3-4: Our family at home didn’t change, but we were thankful to get our first cousin, Lena. She came and stayed with us when she was just ten weeks old for about two weeks.
4-5: We took our first Minnesota road trip up to Lake Superior. Katie and I enjoyed hiking along the shore. I’m thankful I got to dip my paws in the water too.
5-6: I’m super thankful for this part of my life as I started my blogging empire, My GBGV Life in November after I turned 5. Mom was really bad at taking photos back then, and our walls were bare in our office.
6-7:ย This was the period in my life where I started my baking career. At first I used a cookbook, and then I learned to create my own recipes.
7-8: When I turned 7, Bailie came for my birthday party and never left. Sometimes I’m thankful for her, sometimes I’m not, but I know she is a good hound, and I’m glad she has a great home.
8-9: I’m thankful that because of Bailie, I got started in nose work. I earned my first title, L1V in May when I was 8 years old. It’s super cool to be the first GBGV to ever earn a title of any kind in NACSW nose work.
9-10: Bailie and I traveled to Nashville for BlogPaws. The year before, we went to Las Vegas. I’m thankful for the traveling I have gotten to do in the US, and Europe. I have 5 countries and 18 states under my furs, which is pretty good I think.
10-11: Shortly after I turned 10, Madison arrived at our house. With her dad being my half brother, she is truly related to me. She does do a lot of things just like I do. I’m thankful to have someone to follow in my paw prints.
11-12: This past year, I did some traveling with my mom, and I had some pretty good nose work trials. I hope to travel more the coming year. Hanging out with Mom and doing nose work are my favorite things.
Who knows what adventures and challenges this next year will bring, but I look forward to finding out!
We are joining Brianโs Home Blog in the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Gosh, you have travelled so very far and wide. Erin, my charge, hasn’t travelled that far, except over the internet, which isn’t quite the same. Here’s to the coming years and the fun places you will no doubt get to see with your family.
Yours nicely
Mrs H
I enjoy traveling. It seems like Mom and I may have another road trip in the works in a couple months.
I lovd the history. Some much fun to read.
Thank you. I had a few rather boring years after moving to the US, but then things started to get more exciting.
Happy birthday Emma!
Just a few more days until the official day.
oh what a cute puppy, no wonder that you are such a beautiful lady now. YOUR EARS!!! super sweet ;o) I have only seen 2 countries by now, but we hope we will see much more. do you miss england or europe or germany sometimes?
Mom and I miss the dog friendliness of Germany, and the beach on the North Sea, but that is about it.
Happy Birthday beautiful Emma!

Mom says, “from cutie to beauty”, but I think I’m still a cutie.
Holy cow where does the time go? 12 already! Sweet memories!
Time really does fly…away from us.
thank you for sharing bits and pieces of your life. you are truly an amazing little gal loaded with personality plus. have a wonderful bday month.
I do tend to have a pretty good following on line and in person from my personality. It’s a good and fun life I lead.
Emma, you have sure packed a lot into your first 12 years. We can only imagine all the great things you have left to do!
We love the first family Christmas photo shoot – the cats don’t look like they are totally on board with that! So many fun memories! ๐
That photo shoot really stressed Mom out. The cats were not at all cooperative, but it was still something fun to try.
Wow Emma, you sure have done a lot of neat things.
The past twelve years have been pretty nice I have to say.
Happy Birthday Emma!!! What an awesome post. So many great years. Mom says itโs always funny when you say Bailie came for a visit and never left! Happy Bday Week!!!! your doodle friend Dash
Well, I speak the truth. I didn’t ask for her to even come to my party. The rest of the puppies found their way back to the car they came in, but not Bailie. Oh well, such is life.
WHAT FUN trip down memory lane, Emma! We hope you have a blast of a birthday week! Chablis, Elbe,& KAREN
It’s always fun to look back and remember some of the fun stuff I did.
Wow. Thank you for taking us through your life. I met you, Ballie, and mom in Nashville. All of you were so nice and friendly and it was then that I fell in love with your breed.
Nashville was fun. We had a great time in Las Vegas too. Kind of sad it seems like there will be no more BlogPaws to meet up with our friends.
You are so beautiful Emma, your posts always make my day! love you Dink and Mousie and Mr brown
Thank you. I’m blushing under my furs.
