The home of hockey in America is just five miles from nose work camp! Bailie and Madison made a quick stop on their way to camp after their hike at Jay Cooke State Park. Bailie and I visited the same spot back in 2015, but Madison needed to see it for herself, and this was the time for that to happen.
Here it is, the world’s largest free standing hockey stick! It is 110 feet long, and the puck it is about to hit weighs 700 pounds! My sisters look like ants in comparison!
Before getting back into the car, they also posed with the John Mariucci, a famous NHL player from the town of Eveleth. He played hockey at the University of Minnesota, and eventually was also a coach there. We are not huge hockey fans at our house, but it is still worthwhile to have a look at these fun items at the home of hockey in America.
My goodness, that is some big hockey stick!
Minnesota thinks big when it comes to hockey.
wow I bet he was super proud to be in a photo with you!!!
We are going to make that hockey player famous!
I like hockey, but only live. Also, not enough to visit a museum solely about hockey.
The good thing is the stuff is outside, so you can drop by, snap a few photos and go. Mom doesn’t like any museums. She went to far too many as a kid.
What a fun place to visit.
Something a bit different.
That is so cool. My in-laws would love that. They are big hockey fans. I can’t follow the puck myself. Haha
They should be in the north country where everyone breathes hockey!
What a cool place and place to visit. I want to go.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Scritches to the pups. β₯
Thank you.
We aren’t hockey fans either, but those are some fun photos!!
We watch games sometimes, but seeing fun stuff is what it is about, more than hockey.
That’s one HUGE hockey stick! I like hockey though don’t watch it much anymore.
We like it, but don’t watch a lot of it either.
We don’t know much about hockey…but that sure is a big hockey stick!!

For us, it’s more about finding fun stuff to take photos with than the actual subject.
I “sorta” like hockey, but haven’t been to a game in decades. That is one BIG hockey stick and puck!
We think it is a fun thing even for non hockey fans. Another weird road trip find.
Good shots! pun intended!
Thank you.
Shyla has me well trained. I took look at those sculptures, and I thought “no, that’s too scary to go near!”. Especially, the hockey player would freak out a lot of dogs… but not your superstars!
We are not scared of it at all. Mom never even thought of us being scared of it. Bailie is the most fearful of us three, but she did fine with it. Shyla tries hard and works on her fears which is all you can expect.
What a cool stop to check out.
We are not big hockey fans, but we do live in the state of hockey, so it is fun to see.
