We got to have a fun Christmas sleepover at Gramma and cousin Bowie’s house! I have never spent the night at Gramma’s house before, but Bailie has. It was so exciting, I couldn’t wait to leave for Gramma’s on Christmas Eve day! Even kitty cousin Bowie was thrilled to spend two days with his GBGV cousins. You can feel the love from this photo, right?
On Christmas Eve I got to open my present from my friend Sparkle. It was sent to me and Bailie, but Mom said it was more for me. She sent me a nice big root chew. Mom had me open it at Gramma’s so I could keep it there to chew on when I visit. I already have root chews at home. Sparkle sent along a super cool card too! Thank you so much, Sparkle!
The guestroom was our place to sleep. For me, the bed seemed pretty small since we are used to a king size bed at home, but Mom said it would be nice and cozy for the three of us. Who knows why, but I decided to get up early on Christmas morning, 3:25 am early. Mom was not amused, and said I needed to get back in bed and sleep some more. A Christmas sleepover must mean more sleeping?
Christmas morning we had a really long, but fun walk before breakfast. After breakfast, we got to open the last door on our Advent calendars. Normally they have twenty four days, but the ones for dogs have twenty five. Bailie and I were excited to see what we got because the door for day twenty five was about four times as big as the other doors. Turns out it was a big salmon and sweet potato bone treat! It was super tasty. We both loved the treats in our calendars and are happy to know Trader Joes sells the same flavor treats in their stores.
During most of our stay, cousin Bowie was pretty chill. He stayed within sight of us, but also far enough away to feel safe. He is a nice cat, but for some reason he is more like our kitty sis Sophie when it comes to loving dogs. We can never understand how humans or other animals sometimes don’t like us very much, since we are such nice, fun girls.
Bailie did some naughty stuff at Gramma’s house. When Mom and Gramma went to church, Bailie emptied both of Bowie’s cat food bowls. Gramma realized what happened when they returned, and Bowie was meowing around for food. Did a little trouble with Gramma stop Bailie? Of course not! She emptied two more bowls during our stay.
Finally, Mom put the bowl up high on Bowie’s scratcher tower so Bailie could not quite reach it. Bailie kept trying while Mom watched, but she was not able to have any success. It’s not like we were starving! We had our regular meals, an egg for breakfast, extra cookies from Gramma, marrow bones, and stuffed Kongs, but Bailie wanted the cat food.
As always, our favorite thing to do at Gramma’s is to watch the live squirrel TV. Christmas was no different. We spent a lot of time at the various windows watching those pesty creatures race around. It is quite exhilarating!
By the end of Christmas day we were completely worn out. Even Gramma was ready to crash. Only Mom was left standing with her camera as usual! What a fun Christmas sleepover. I hope we can do it again before next Christmas!
We are thankful for so many things, so we are joining Brianβs Home Blog in the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop! Visit some other blogs to see what they are thankful for.
awesome adventure Madison!! What a fun sleepover! have a good day. your friend Lilly
We had a great Christmas time at Gramma’s.
What a fun sleepover!! Love Bert!!
Bowie is Gramma’s cat.
I recognized my card right away! We are happy you liked the root chew better than I did, and I LOVE to chew on hard stuff. You had a fantastic sleepover and day at your Gramma’s house. You and Bailie have the bestest adventures. XOXO, Sparkle
We keep pretty busy with my mom always having us do stuff, but we like it.
Looks like a wonderful time. How fun for everyone.
We had a really fun time.
I’ve never been to a sleep-over before. You girls are so lucky and it looked like so much fun!
We always sleep over at hotels, or once and a while with a friend if Mom is gone, but never at Gramma’s before.
It’s wonderful that you got to go with the peeps for Christmas. Pups should always get to go wherever their peeps go. Looks like you both had a great time. I’m thankful for that too.
Have a woof woof Thankful Thursday. My best to your peeps. β₯
We are thankful Mom takes us to as many places as she can. It is usually fun.
It sounds like a fun sleep over.
It was a lot of fun, and the small bed was super good for snuggling.
Aw, so glad you enjoyed your first sleepover at Gramma’s house! I hope Bailie is feeling better after eating Bowie’s cat food, silly girl!
She is doing fine now. Somehow, she seems to be driven to take on bad habits.
awww poor Bowie a diet during da howlidays is hard to stand ;O) was it catfood with salmon Bailie?
No diets here, but cat food is for cats. Bowie eats duck. Bailie said it tastes wonderful.
What a fun visit you had!! There is just something about cat food that some dogs cannot resist! We used to run into that when we’d take our beagles visiting where there were cats. All food always had to be put up, I think we learned that after Kobi cleaned out a few bowls!
Bailie cleans it out at home too if Mom doesn’t keep an eye on the cats at feeding time.
I see you girls had yet another eventful Christmas! I like that calendar treat thing I need one, forget about my brother, Elbe!
Send your mom to Trader Joes next year to get you one. They are full of tasty treats and we loved opening a door together every day.
It sure looks like you had a fun time at Grammie’s place and I’m glad Bowie was a good host! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
We had a great Christmas, but Bowie is happy we went back home.
I loved my sleepover at our Gramma’s house last October too!! A change of scenery can be lots of fun, especially at Christmastime!
xoxo,
Rosy, Jakey & Arty
We love to hang out with Gramma, so it was super fun.
Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas! Nothing like Squirrel TV! Wishing your family a happy, healthy 2019!
Hope your Christmas was merry as well. Squirrel TV is wonderful.
What a fun time! Cat food is much higher in protein and fat than dog food since cats are true carnivores, so it tastes better to dogs. The problem is a dog eating cat food can get pancreatitis, which means a hospital stay and it can sometimes be fatal.
My suggestion is to stick to squirrel TV for entertainment instead of eating stuff you shouldn’t as entertainment, it’s much healthier!
At home it is pretty tough to get access to cat food, but when we are visiting others, sometimes it happens. Mom knows it is a bad idea, but Bailie insists on trying to find and eat it if she can.
What a fun night! Gramma’s houses are supposed to be the most fun place ever!
Visiting Gramma is always a fun time. It was really fun to add a sleepover. Bailie already knew that would be fun, but for me it was the first time.
Thank goodness no doggy ended up sick!!! But…all in all it was a wonderful sleepover! Bowie is a cutie!
Bailie just can’t help herself when it comes to cat food. Well, actually, that is the problem. She does help herself when she can!
I’m not quite sure what the appeal of cat food is to dogs, but I know my guys would do the same. Of course, it could have been worse….there is something else cat that some dogs like to snack on. π
Glad you had a fun time!
Mom is more cognizant of the other “free food” because she says if we eat clumping litter, we would really be in a mess.
