The other day after coming home from a vet visit, Mom asked me if I wanted a doughnut or a cone. I’ve never tasted either, but I figured a cone would be full of cold ice cream, so I chose the doughnut. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was not edible! The doughnut was no fun, no fun at all! Sleeping in this thing was nearly impossible. If humans wore this doughnut in the water, they would never drown! There is no way to get your head down.No worries, I only had to wear it for about two days. I had a puncture wound between my middle toes on my back left paw, and it was infected. The vet cleaned it up, shaved my two middle toes (the nerve), and gave me some medicine. It wasn’t painful, just messy, and I wanted to lick it all the time the first couple days. You can’t even see it in the photo because I am so shaggy right now. My biggest worry was that I wouldn’t be able to do Barn Hunt, but it was already healing a lot by Saturday, so I got to hunt.
Oh ouch! I sure am glad you are okay now!
It wasn’t real painful, but it itched a lot.
You definitely do NOT look happy! Glad it was a short term experience. Best wishes for your barn hunts. I am up real early because my sister, Lyla, who is almost 15 has to have a mastectomy this morning. Mom has to take her soon, but you know how Mom’s are about situations like this. They freak out! XOXO, Sparkle
Oh my. I’m so sorry to hear that. Moms are always a mess when one of us is not well, or needs surgery. Paws crossed for a good outcome.
Lyla is home and staggering around like a druken girl. She ate the chicken and rice Mommy cooked for her. She had 3 teeth pulled. I think Lyla is doing better than Mommy. I was a hot mess while Lyla was gone. I missed my seester!
Sending healing thoughts to Lyla. Take good care of her, poor thing.
You look so sad but I’m glad you not in any pain.
I rarely am sad, but the cone managed to achieve sadness with me. Very uncomfortable to try and do anything with it around my neck.
Sure glad you didnt have to wear that thing very much. That looks very uncomfortable. You all have a wonderful day.
I did get to test the cone option, but that was even worse!
Madison! I had to wear a cone! For two weeks! Not fun or comfortable. Glad you did ok with the donut and it wasn’t too long. Have a good day. your friend Lilly
Wow, that is terrible! I tried the cone on, but it was much worse, so I opted to keep the doughnut. Glad we are both done with those terrible things.
Oh no. Feel better fast.
My toesies are on the mend, and I’m doing well.
Oh no. How awful for you, Madison, and I’m so happy to hear that you are doing better and were able to hunt!
That doughnut stuff is for the birds. No dog could be happy wearing something like that.
I think the cone would have been way worse than the doughnut. I’m glad you’re doing better. That’s the important part.
Thanks for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a woof woof WW and rest of the week. My best to your smart mom. ♥
Wow girl! We all have had something awful on to keep our tongues away from hurts at one point or other. Glad your sentence was only two days!!
I tried the cone later in the day, but it was really a bad thing!
That is definitely not the kind of doughnut anyone would expect or like! We’re glad you didn’t have to wear it for too long and that you are healing up well.
The furs are already growing back on my toes. Thank dog, as that was silly looking.
You look great in donut! That’s such a better thing to wear then a cone. I’m glad your healing up and got to do barn hunt.
It does beat the cone, but is still not nice to wear.
Oh Madison, aren’t doughnuts the pits? I have to wear them when I have bad itchy days.
We’re glad your feeling better and don’t need it much anymore!
xoxo,
Arty
I hope I never need it again. Sorry about your itchy days, that would not be fun.
What a disappointment after being offered a doughnut or cone and you end up with that! I would think the doughnut is the least uncomfortable option.I hope your wound is better now.
I did try the cone but the doughnut was a bit better.
We had to wear cones after our “big girl” surgeries – NO FUN!
I’ve heard that can happen, but I haven’t had that surgery.
Hope you heal up fast, and never have to wear one of those things again!
I hope I never have to wear one again too!
you poor baby!!! Thank goodness I am assuming it is off now?
I had to wear it for two days, but sometimes Mom let me take it off if she could watch me because she hated seeing me in it.
Ouch! I’m glad Mom took you to the vet. A toe infection can be a real pain. That still looks more comfortable than the big old plastic cone.
It was a messy injury, but it also has healed fast. The doughnut is better than a cone, I got to try both, but no fun!
While we’re sorry you had to wear any cone, that one looks far more comfortable than the one Sam had to wear. I’m gonna have to look for one of those and get rid of those horrible satellite dishes.
Mom says to keep the awful ones because depending on where the injury is, a dog can still reach certain parts of their body with a doughnut, but it is good if it can be used rather than the plastic cone.
We HATE CONES!!! That donut looks kinda comfy, but we hope we never have to find out. Your friends Elbe and Chablis
Neither is good, but the doughnut is the better of the two evil things.
My dog actually seemed to enjoy the doughnut haha. she could just sit down and sleep anywhere!
It’s better than the cone!
Me and my sister Ella were playing in the yard and she accidentally bit me too hard! I had to wear a cone and it was NOT fun!
Your sister should have had to wear a sympathy cone with you!
