I’m cozy, happy, and warm here in front of the fireplace with cat bro Bert. Mom snapped this with her phone which turns photos into painting like pictures when she uses the night mode. Anyone else smiling by their fireplace this week?
Some people have been worried about us. We just woke up to -27 degrees, with a high today of -16. Many businesses are closed or have shortened hours, we rescheduled our barn hunt practice, no schools are open, even the mail service cancelled delivery for today. As for us, we’ll dash out a few times today to use the facilities but that is about it for us. Mom is very careful, so no worries.
The biggest issue is that darn wind. -27 is doable, but the winds make it so dangerous. When we go out, we put on our shoes, Mom bundles up, and we run/walk 5-10 mins and then are back inside. Today is the coldest day of this Arctic blast, it is all looking better from tomorrow on.
Did you know doing sports with your dog, either for fun, or competitively helps you build a closer bond? Check out the guest article my mom wrote about Deepening the bond with your dog through sports.
Weβre joining Comedy Plus for some Wordless Wednesday fun. Trying hard to be more wordless, but it is not easy!
We are so glad you are managing the arctic blast! Good work!!
Wow, I can’t imagine it being that cold.Sure hope you stay by the fire. You all stay as warm as you cqn.
Chilly would be a big understatement. We were out and around the block very quickly this morning. Now we are napping in sun puddles.
OMD – that is wayyyyyyyyyy too cold! Stay nice and warm and safe by the fireplace!
Hopefully the wind will die down later today as that is the big problem. Even the house feels just cold.
I can’t even imagine that kind of cold. Stay safe.
Lucky for us, we don’t need to imagine it since we are in it! Our walks are fast and furious, and no playing in the yard at all.
You two look so sweet in front of the fireplace! That’s a lot of Brrrrrr Humbug, y’all keep warm!
At least we know cat bro Bert won’t try to run out the door with this weather. That is about the only plus.
I would ? in the house rather than go out!
Mom would not be happy if we tried that. We put on our boots and ran around the block. The running gets things moving faster because Mom isn’t going any further than that. The wind is too dangerous.
That looks very cozy!
It’s one of the best parts of winter, snuggling by the fire in the evenings.
Ick! It’s not quite that cold here–but still below 0 with windchills around -30, so we are spending the next couple days snuggled up inside, too. Stay warm!
Yes, those walks are super fast right now. The wind is supposed to go away later today, that will really help. No wind, we can be out without worrying so much.
I am glad you like the COLD!!! BRRRRRR ! I am not sur how my Florida blood would react now to those temperatures. I was actually living there for the temps in 2014 as I did not leave Minnesnowta until February 17, 2014. XOXO, Sparkle
As a puppy, I’m sure you were not out in these elements for more than a few seconds at a time. When Bailie was a pup that winter of 2014, Mom bundled her up in boots, a coat, and a hat for her quick walks down the block and back. Same as for humans, the young and elderly have the most trouble with extreme weather.
That’s a cool photo effect! I WISH we had a fireplace. We’re experiencing a vicious cold spell as well, but not as bad as yours. Stay warm!
We love our fireplace. My mom does not like fire. No lit candles, gas stoves or anything with flames, but the gas fireplace works because it is behind the glass and seems safe. Really a nice winter thing.
the best place in winter…. and that is really super cold outside… we have -4Β°c and it feels like -40 ;O)
Make me want to visit Hawaii and get out of the cold. Wow, that’s cold.
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday and stay warm. Scritches to the pups. β₯
It is pretty chilly. Our normal winter will be returning soon, so no worries. We would like to swim at the beach in Hawaii, but otherwise, we are not fans of summer like hot weather.
Good googly gook those are some horrid numbers showing there on the weather.
BUT your sweet faces by the fire are precious and OMDs what a nice feature the phone has on it
Hugs Cecilia
Yes, it is a bit cool out today. We had a very short and fast walk. We were all awake after that!
Oh good heaven, I thought it was cold here but you guys…OH MY! Temperatures like y’alls is the very reason why we don’t live too far north. DH worked in Michigan for several months in 2000. We thought we would have to move there but thankfully he found work near home. I’m so glad because it was miserable for him and I know it would’ve been equally miserable for me. We don’t handle the cold very well. Stay safe and warm! Happy WW!
We love the cold and snow, but this is extreme, something that doesn’t happen too often. Mom lived in MI one year but she found winter far too warm for her liking, so she moved back to MN. Everyone has their own climate desire. Starting tomorrow things will begin to improve.
That is the only place to be with those terribly cold temperatures. Stay warm and don’t pee icicles!
I know! Everything that comes out freezes almost immediately!
You are sending us your weather, but it is too cold. Today is 0Β° with a wind chill of -15 and light snow
That’s a lot warmer than around here. Right now we are at -30, but less wind thankfully.
Wow, and we thought we had it bad! Luke and I were able to walk today, even though it didn’t quite reach our desired 20 degrees. π
Tomorrow we’ll be getting your weather though so it’s another hibernation day. This winter is starting to get to us!
Love the photo of you two enjoying the fire!
The wind is what ruins it for us around here, and the rollercoaster. We are expecting 40 degrees on the weekend, then back below zero. It should just stay cold because the warm stuff makes such an icy mess.
We go outside in the yard, but not for very long – although we keep going out. Bitter cold, but not like you girls have. Chablis & Elbe
Short, fast, and productive is our motto right now, but today is the last really frigid day.
We have been very worried about yβall. That is too cold for anyone. We are sending love and warm huggles to our favorite girls.
We are good, just frustrating when we try every door in the house and the weather is the same out each door. Short speedy walks are the key. Today is the last really cold day, so we will be fine.
That picture of you two cuties warms my heart – stay warm and cozy you two!
Cozy is our middle name around here in the wintertime.
Glad to hear you are staying toasty warm inside today!!
Congrats on your Mom’s pawesome article!!
xoxo,
Arty, Jakey & Rosy
Yeah, just quick trips outside and very short, fast walks. A few days rest is not a bad thing. Mom likes writing so another article is always a good thing.
We too are experiencing crazy cold, way too much snow & wind that feels like it wants to take every face, nose & toes it can findπΎ
Stay warm my furiendsπΎ
πnose nudgesπ
That wind was super nasty!
LOVE your photo, your fireplace looks so cozy! we are in the same deep freeze (as you know)……no walks here, just potty outside for Dakota and he actually runs right back in, smart dog! Lots of cozy blankets. Wish we had a fireplace like you have! Our mail delivery was canceled yesterday AND today
No mail yesterday, but today things are getting back to normal. Tomorrow we will go above zero again. Our walks in the morning are about 10 mins when it is -30, but later in the day we can go for 20 – 30. Ready for a good hour walk again.
We got the same thing going on here. Glad itβs leaving!
Gotta warm it up for the new puppies.
Dear Lord. That is all kinds of wrong. Stay safe.
LOL! Just a cold snap. The only real bad part was the wind.
