We found dog friendly shopping at Scheels last weekend in Sioux Falls. Since it was below zero outside, and there was so much snow, it was hard to find a place to go and do something after our Scent Work Trial on Saturday. Some friends told us we could go shopping at Scheels. In the USA, Mom is always leery about going into stores with us, but we were greeted nicely the moment we walked in the front door!
The store was huge! As a matter of fact, it even had a scary thing called a ferris wheel inside the store! Thank dog we were too short to go on the wheel because that would not be something for us at all! Right by that scary wheel thing there was a giant bear statue. We were so focused on the wheel we didn’t even notice the bear. I have to admit, at first Bailie and I were a bit scared in this strange store.
Thankfully, they had stairs and escalators because we don’t do escalators. Mom says they are too dangerous for dogs like us. We marched upstairs because we heard that is where the fun stuff is at. Once we were upstairs we found a bench to take a short break on after the climb. Actually, I declined the bench and opted for the soft carpet floor.
One good thing about the dog friendly shopping at Scheels is they have a decent dog department. Mom let us sniff around in the treats, chews, and toys, but we didn’t buy anything. Right past the dog department, we found these animals in a very small yard surrounded by glass.
Bailie, the real party hound, wanted to try her paws at bowling, but we learned they don’t make bowling balls for dog paws. Such a terrible bummer! I guess no bowling for our family.
I found this adorable moose and just had to get a photo with him. My what huge and fancy antlers he has! We also found a super fun looking Jeep, but it was always busy with kids, so we never got to go sit in it.
On the way out, we stopped to look for a sweatshirt and found out something amazing! South Dakota State University is the home of the Jackrabbits! Can you believe we are in a place where they honor rabbits! No wonder we love coming to Sioux Falls so much!
Mom ended up buying this sweatshirt. Doesn’t it look great on Bailie? I think we need to spend a lot more time in this jackrabbit town!
As we left the store, Bailie wanted to get a shot of herself next to old Abe Lincoln. He was pretty stiff and snowy, but she still felt honored to share a bench with such a human. If you have a Scheels in your area, you should head over with your own pup. It’s a lot of fun, and a good experience for we furry ones too.
We are thankful for dog friendly shopping, so we are joining Brianβs Home Blog in the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop! Visit some other blogs to see what they are thankful for.
That was such a fun shopping trip and it’s wonderful they welcomed you with open paws. I love that big old moose! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
In Europe it was so normal to shop with a dog, but Mom always feels like she is breaking rules when she takes us into stores, but it is fun. Everyone was super nice to us too.
WOW! What a fun shopping trip. My favorite 2 photos – you and the look on the moose’s face with a GBGV cuddled next to him. The other was Bailie wearing the Jackrabbit sweatshirt with the bunny in her mouth! XOXO, Sparkle
We love that moose too! I think he was wondering what I was sitting on his feet! It’s amazing a big school is celebrating a jackrabbit! Now we know where we want to go to college if we ever decide to go.

Sounds like a fun day.
It was a huge store with so much to take in! Bailie and I were exhausted after shopping.
oh deeer that is a wonderful store… and the moose is an artpiece… we want one for our living room ;O)=
Have you shopping mom contact Scheels to see if they would ship her a moose.
How fun. I have seen those stores in other places, good to know they are dog friendly.
I would think they are all dog friendly but sometimes not all the stores in a chain follow the same rules. It is a great store for everything you need for sports and outdoors. We will definitely go again.
It’s a good thing when you can go shopping with the peeps. They like and so do you.
Have a woof woof Thankful Thursday. My best to your peeps. β₯
It’s so nice because Mom won’t leave us in the car, so she got to shop and we could go along.
my goodness me- what a shopping experience!
It was a perfect end to a fun day!
that is so cool that they allowed woofies there! the only store we have similar to that is Bass Pro shop and they sure don’t allow woofies (that I am aware of)
It was an amazing store and such a good experience for us too!
What a great store – I love the Moose/Dog photo, that is so sweet!
We think the moose is adorable too.
You must have had a BLAST! Wow! So much to do in one store. Good work girls!! your friend Lilly
We didn’t even begin to cover all the departments. The place was huge and we were all getting tired.
What a great shopping day you’ve had and look how brave you were <3 Warm Pawkisses for a Happy ThursdayπΎπ½π
We like to try new things, even when they might be a bit scary.
We have a store similar to that and it allows dogs but we haven’t been. Mom is afraid that we would “act a fool”. BOL!
Just do it is Mom’s motto. She likes to confront things like that head on and we usually do really well.
What a fun place to spend some down time! Mama is going to put it on her list of “pet friendly” places to take us when we travel!!
xoxo,
Jakey, Rosy and Arty
Hopefully you will find one to check out in your travels. There is so much to sniff and see!
That looks like such a fun store!! I’ve never heard of Scheels, but it reminds me of a store I went to in Maine once, which might have been Cabela’s or Bass Pro Shops. If I remember correctly, we did see some dogs in there shopping.
We’ve gone to a Cabella’s, but that was nothing compared to this monstrosity of a store. Really a great place.
What a fun day you girls had! I NEED that moose chair!
It is the coolest moose ever I think.
Sad to say, we do not have one of those around here. The pups will have to be content with the dog park and the occasional visit to PetsMart.
We don’t have one real close to us either, but if you are traveling, maybe you will find one.
How fun!! Bailey looks like a kid in a candy store!
It was a real nice store for us all to go shopping at.
What a very cool place to visit and get some really nice photos.
It is a real fun store!
