I’m celebrating Prince today! He passed away three years ago, on April 21, 2016. I always felt connected to him since I am Purple Girl. Prince is a Twin Cities icon, which means there are always Prince events and memorials to take in. On our street art/mural tour, I found this mural of him on the side of a Minneapolis building. Today I’m posting it to honor him.
A few days after his death, Mom and I took a drive out to Paisley Park, which I did a blog post on back in 2016. Neither of us had ever been there, but it was very interesting. Having such a worldwide personality so close to where you live is a bit odd. The place was full of mourning fans, and TV stations.
In July of 2016, Mom and I went back out to Chanhassen to see the new Prince mural which was done by an artist from Sydney, Australia. It covers the one side of a movie theater. The location was pretty nice to get a decent photo.
Life is a special occasion that is to be cherished every minute of every day. It is truly a shame Prince died so young, and unnecessarily. His music will carry on forever, and Paisley Park now offers tours, but it is sad Prince is gone forever. At least the Twin Cities recognizes him with lots of purple, which is also my color.
My GBGV Life is joining Comedy Plus for some Wordless Wednesday fun.
That Prince is totally amazing!!!
People can do amazing things on buildings with paint!
what a wonderful post to honor an artist was was unique… the world cries purple tears because no one can be like prince…
My mom cries purple tears too because Bailie can be so lazy, LOL! Prince was great!
Life IS a special occasion! Well done Purple Girl aka Bailie! We almost had a life tragedy last night. My sister, Lyla, had her first ever seizure. It was bad. She is 15 years old. She seems to be fine this morning, and my mom thinks it may have been caused by Lyla licking her face right after she put some junk on her face to control her (Mom’s) aging process. For heaven’s sake, Mom is 70 why should she want to appear younger? She has earned every wrinkle! I was so upset watching her. XOXO, Sparkle
Oh no, that is awful. Mom says a dog having a big seizure is very scary. I hope she will be alright and no damage was done. I think the cream caused your mom to age last night instead of what it was supposed to do. Paws crossed Lyla will continue to be fine.
Mom remember exactly where she was when she learned of Prince’s passing. So sad. Love the mural!
It was unbelievable news, but true. We are happy to live pretty close so we still get a lot of Prince things around town. It would be better if he was here, though.
So very cool.
These murals are amazing finds.
Those pictures remind me of “When doves cry”, just one of many of my favorite Prince songs. He is dearly missed and should continue to be honored – such a great artist. Lovely post.
Thank you. He made some great music, and Minnesota loves to honor his memory.
I loved Prince too. Purple Rain
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. β₯
He was loved by so many, it’s sad he is gone.
I can’t believe it has already been so many years! I’m sure he’ll be honored there forever like Elvis and Memphis.
I’m sure he will be, especially around here.
What a wonderful post for such a special man..Mama has been a big fan of Prince for most of his career, and we are in awe of all the beautiful murals!

He had some great music that will go on forever.
Such a talent gone too soon.
Very sad when anyone goes so soon, and it didn’t have to be that way.
A friend once asked me if i ever wore anything other than purple, and my answer was, of course not. Prince was amazing.
Good to know there is another purple girl in the world besides my sister Bailie, our Purple Girl.
It is very sad, but we’re glad to know he is being memorialized so much. It is so sweet of you to share him.
Heis always being celebrated around here since he was from here.
My sister was a HUGE Prince fan and just last year she flew out to Paisley Park to see it. You can tell by all the tributes to him that he touched a lot of people. It must be cool to find random tributes.
They sometimes light up buildings and bridges in purple to honor him, and there seems to always be something going on.
