Healthy dog chews make perfect evening snacks at our house. We work out early in the morning which is our fun time of the day, but evenings is our other family time. Mom tries to unplug, and we relax with some chews before bedtime. Not only are they tasty, but they help clean off our teeth at the end of the day. We have six different favorites we rotate through when we are home in the evening.
To be clear, this is not a product review. We purchased the chews on our own, and for our own use. Because we think they are amazing, we want to share them with all of you. Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, My GBGV Life may receive a small commission if you order products through them.
One of our all time favorites are the marrow bones. Mom gets them fresh at the butcher and freezes them so we always have them on hand. We get one a week, and since it takes us a long time to finish them, we get them on a night where Mom needs us to be busy. I am always trying to steal treat from Bailie. She gives me nasty looks, but always lets me take what I want.
How about some green tripe sticks? These chews don’t last long, but they sure taste good. We always buy the two pound bag from Best Bully Sticks. Not only are they good for our teeth, they are good for healthy skin and furs. The bag is almost bigger than I am which is pretty funny!
Bailie likes the Beef Trachea a lot. We buy the bag of three inch length ones as that is plenty for one sitting at our size. Did you know these are loaded with glucosamine and chondroiten, and they are high protein, low fat. Since our joint health is important, these are a wise choice for healthy dog chews.
I like to have some bladder sticks once and a while. They are a nice chew, but not as difficult to chew on as, say, a bully stick. They are all natural, easy to digest, and also help promote dental health.
Bailie’s favorite chew next to marrow bones would be bully sticks. We buy four and six inch regular ones. Bully sticks are good for our teeth and gums, and tend to last a long time, but they are high calorie. Both of us enjoy chewing on them in the evening.
I love the beef gullet wraps. They don’t last very long, but along with being tasty, they have lots of glucosamine and chondroiten for joint health. Gullet wraps make a good quick chew.
Here is a photo of Bailie enjoying a bladder stick the other night. Did you know you can order a lot of Best Bully Sticks products on Chewy.com and they are often cheaper and with free shipping over $49, it can be a good deal!
I love my gullet wraps. Bailie gulps them down, but I spend about ten minutes savoring mine! We are very thankful we have healthy chews for dogs around our house. Hopefully your pup has some good chews too!
Weโre joining Brianโs Home Blog in the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop! Visit some other blogs to see what they are thankful for.
It’s always wonderful when you find that special treat that happens to be healthy too! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
We love all our different chews for relaxing in the evenings.
Thanks for giving my mom some ideas. I love a nice chew after dinner too. We are up super early because Lyla is not acting normal, and we are worried. XOXO, Sparkle
I’m so sorry Sparkle and Mom. I just saw about Lyla on FB. Sending lots of GBGV hugs to you both. This has been a very tough week at your house. Our hearts ache for you.
This is great for Mom to read! But she is worried if my brother is ready for bully sticks and stuff. She isnโt sure his digestion is ready for it! But mom is ready for him to be busy with something besides her and Iโm ready for him to stop pestering me!!!! Great post!! your friend Lilly
Maybe a softer chew like a bladder stick or the gullet wraps. Both of those keep me busy, and I’m 2. Mom gave me antlers as a puppy to teethe on, or there are also the root chews. I still haul mine out sometimes to munch on. They are soft and last forever. I wonder what it is like to have a pesty little sibling, since that is me, I guess I won’t find out.
Those sure look like great treats and they are good for you too. Such lucky dogs you are, for sure. Have a wonderful day.
They are all natural, and do good things for us, plus we love them.
I don’t get bully sticks as often as I would like to but when I do, I truly enjoy it! The green tripe sticks have my attention!
The green tripe pieces are real tasty but they are more like fancy treats.
you are totally right! evening snacks should be healthy and good for our teeth… and to finish the day with a bully stick is just pawfect!
We never get chews any other time, so we do enjoy them before bed.
YEAH!!! mom agreed to add some trachea to our reorder!!! Chablis & Elbe
You will like them. We had the 6″ ones, but they were pretty big. The 3″ seems to be just right.
You two are such great posers and you can rate anything very well. Treats that are healthy is a very important thing.
I’m thankful that I found you both and your mom too.
Have a woof woof Thankful Thursday. My best to your mom. โฅ
We only post about things we actually use or eat, and enjoy. No need to post about things we don’t support. We are so happy to have met you and your blog too.
We get Best Bully Sticks stuff too!!! We usually have a chew after dinner – a tripe stick or tendon chew or trachea is a wonderful way to let our Mom get some of her work done.
My mom uses it to keep us busy so she can watch TV, or just relax in peace.
I’ve always avoided long-lasting chews like this because the beagles could get snarly when they had one. Now that it is just Luke, I should definitely reconsider. I just worry about him trying to gulp it too fast and choking on a piece. Sometimes he forgets he’s an only dog now and doesn’t have to rush through things!
We are good about not arguing over any food or treats, but Mom is always there when we have treats. Katie used to gulp stuff down, but Bailie and I chew ours nicely. You could get a small package and see how it goes. Maybe try the thick ones so he chews more?
Yummy to eat and good for you too – can’t beat that!
That is so true!
Bladder sticks, first time hearing about those. They really are using the whole animal.
Mom started getting those when Emma got older as she didn’t like hard chews, but they still help polish the old chompers.
