I got my Pet Drivers License, and am heading out onto the open road all by myself! It’s so exciting being able to finally drive. Since Mom is the only driver, it is high time she had someone else to help shuttle us girls to and from our activities. In case you are thinking of getting your dog a license, check out our deal at the end of this post!

Preparing For My Drivers License Test
You may know, most kids these days go to driver’s training at school. I checked out a bunch of dog schools, but none offered driver training for dogs. Luckily in this age of technology, I was able to find the DMV manual online, and could study from the comfort of my cuddle bed. No dog wants to fail the written or driving tests! I passed my written test online on my first try!
Next up was the behind the wheel portion. Mom took me out driving so I could get used to our car and the road. Parallel parking was a real nightmare! As you can see, I’m about ready to give up. Seriously, I’m supposed to get this huge vehicle parked between the orange poles without even touching them! Humans sure come up with some odd ideas!
On my birthday, since I am six, Mom said it is the same as a human sixteen, so I got to take my driver’s test. We headed out to the Driver Examination Station, hoping to get a last minute spot for the road test. I was a bit nervous.
Wow, I am really here! A hound behind the wheel, about to test for my freedom, my canine right to drive a car. It sure is exciting, but scary as well. It all looks so very serious. Waiting for that testing person seemed like forever.
I made sure to follow the rules of the road – coming to a complete stop, signaling turns, watching for traffic, no speeding, no high speed squirrel chases. The test person was pretty impressed with the fact that I wear a good seat belt, my impulse control, and my driving knowledge.
I Got My Pet Drivers License
In the end, I earned my Pet Drivers License from My Pet DMV! I’m pretty proud of myself to say the least! It was not an easy feat, but I did it. I’m the second hound in the family now to actually legally drive! Emma had her license for many years.
One super cool thing for dogs, is that they have small licenses you can hang on your collar. I’ll be the first to admit I rarely carry a purse, or wallet, and my fur has no pockets, so hanging a license from my collar is quite practical!
Now that I’m a licensed driver, I headed out into the sea called traffic. Wow, look at all those cars, how will I ever be able to squeeze into the traffic stream. Time to figure all this out on my own, and I’m thrilled to have a chance to do it!

I love this. Now you can drive to visit me. Let me know when you are coming.
I will need to learn how to use navigation first, and then make sure I can have the car for a few days.
OH, my dog!! I am barkless. That is pawsome. I do not know if I could see over the dashboard. You did such a great job. I need to talk to my mom about this because my 6th birthday is in November. You are such a cute driver. XOXO, Sparkle
It is hard work because there are a lot of rules. You might need a cushion on your seat so you can see well enough.
Now that’s super cool sweet Bailie, we’d ride with you any old day! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I’m enjoying cruising around in the car when Mom isn’t using it.
oooh congrats!! have always a good grip on da road!!! and visit us please when you can drive now!!!
I wish I could drive on the Autobahn. My mom loves to drive fast and she says it was so much fun zooming around in Germany.
Zachary here – I’m going to make sure our Mom reads this. I think I should be doing the driving for the family especially since I am seven!!!! Congratulations on getting your driver’s license.
If you are seven, you are definitely old enough. I hope you can work hard and get your license.
How fun!!! We want those! Hope there is not an upper age limit ( I’m 11.5 in human years) . Elbe is too young still, but he DRIVES US CRAZY ! ( does that count for practice?). Chablis
I don’t think you can be too old to drive, humans drive and they are really old sometimes.
OMD,you can DRIVE anywhere!!!!!
This is just soooo EXCITING….so where do you want to go first????
Chewy headquarters, the nearest Pets R Pups shop or the nearest CAKE shop?????
Loves and licky kisses

I like to drive to parks where we can hunt squirrels and rabbits, or places I can get food.
Good for you, Bailie!! Ducky is too spoiled to want a drivers license – she likes being chauffeured around! ๐คฃ But that’s okay cuz I don’t think she could reach the pedals AND see over the steering wheel at the same time.
I’m nervous when Mom drives, so it is better for me to be in control.
Can you drive me around tomorrow. So cute and what a great idea. I love the shades.
Have a woof woof day. My best to your mom. โฅ
I would love to drive you around!
too cute! Loved this! We have had a driver’s license for years!!
Better be careful. Emma said the same thing and then found out she was driving on an expired license!
That sounds great, but mom said she thinks that I shouldn’t drive in NYC. There’s traffic all day, not just rush hour. She also said that the taxis, ubers, lyft drivers aim for you. People don’t obey the rules and run out between two cars, against the stop light and cause havoc. Did mention all the drivers who drive with out a license.
You can’t be of faint of heart to drive in NYC.
For now I’ll just sit back and get chauffeured.
My mom doesn’t want to drive in NYC either, she says the whole place is way too busy and crowded for her.
Congratulations, Bailie! I think the world may need to watch out for this wild child out on the roads though! ๐
I think I’m a pretty good driver, and I know I can’t chase critters with the car.
Congrats Bailie! Now you can take your sisters on some fun road trips!
xoxo,
Rosy, Jakey & Arty
We can go lots more places now!
What fun! And i will bet you drive better than some people iโve seen.
There are some really bad drivers out there, that is for sure.
Way to go, Bailie! Your mom is going to love you helping her run errands!
It should really be a big help for my mom having another driver in the house.
Hey, can ya give me a ride to da magic window place??
Where is the magic window place? I don’t know about it.
OMD, Bailie, you DID it!!!!!! Way to go girl! Now you can take all your friends for barking fun rides!
I know! I’m so excited!
That is pretty darn cool.
