We are surviving the Dog Days of Summer here at our house, but it is not a real fun time for dogs. Olivia can’t figure out why they call it dog days since dogs don’t even like it! It’s downhill to winter now, and we are looking forward to fun in the snow if we survive the summer.
Early mornings and evenings are the best time of day for us to be outside, but even then, the heat and humidity make it uncomfortable. Some simple sniffing is about enough activity for us…well for me and Bailie. Olivia still feels the need to run around like a crazy girl.
I often try to lie down and rest, but Olivia usually has other plans for me like coming at me full speed and jumping right on my tummy. This makes me a bit angry, but she is a puppy and doesn’t think about her actions before executing them.
She tears around the yard without thinking about the weather, then usually goes upstairs and drinks water like crazy. Mom always has a close eye on her since she doesn’t know how to behave in the heat.
It could be that Olivia has been watching some wrestling shows on TV because she loves to take big jumps and land right on top of me. I don’t find it very amusing. At twenty pounds she is quite heavy when she lands on me.
Now and then, I have to be the disciplinarian and show her some of my fangs. She thinks she is super tough, but she still has the baby fangs which are not worth much in a fangs dispute.
Sometimes Olivia and Bailie are outside together. Olivia gets on Bailie’s nerves always trying to get into her face. We try to tell her to stop it, but she won’t listen, and that irritates Bailie.
Poor Bailie is not happy about the heat and humidity, or a puppy in her face. Since she is supposed to be resting because of her leg, she spends most of the time inside in the A/C, and is not complaining about that right now.
Of course, surviving the Dog Days of Summer has to include a big old smack in the face from one of Olivia’s giant paws! She loves to hit with those monsters. Lucky for me, they are big but super soft! I think they are also a bit green from all the rain on a freshly mowed lawn!

Nothing could be cuter than a puppy at play!
She is a lot of fun to watch.
We love the pictures of you playing with your sissies, Olivia! Go easy on themβΊ
Especially on me since she is almost my size now.
same here!!! My brother would like to play play play but mom and I keep telling him to take it easy! The wrestling is ridiculous!! I have to let him know whoβs boss just about every day!! He loves wrestling!!! Well stay cool!! Hereβs hoping for some good days ahead! your friend Lilly
Today the heat broke and we have a fabulous day to be outside. Unfortunately, the heat will return in a few days, but we enjoy the cool weather while we have it.
We do not get green paws because we have a different type of grass. I have to deal with my own puppy play which is generally inside the house. Puffin uses my ears as pull toys, and she grabs my neck and lips with those tiny sharp fangs. I cry a lot, but I really do love her. I feel you pain! XOXO, Sparkle
Olivia things my ears are tug toys. I think they may get stretched out if this keeps up!
Try to stay cool you guys.
It’s been miserable, but we now have a couple really nice days.
That Olivia sure has a bunch of puppergy…even in all the heat! We know you and Bailie are doing your best to teach her…but Jakey and I know, sometimes little sister sure can be crazy!
xoxo,
Arty
She is non stop, but when she does stop, she crashes hard which we do enjoy.
I love watching pups play. Looks like a wonderful time.
Mom says she could watch us play forever.
Wow, where does Olivia get all her ENERGY???? I’m exhausted just watching her
Loves and licky kisses

She is one super energized puppy!
to have a puppy in your face is sure special LOL
It gets old fast, but she insists on being in our faces all the time.
That little girl sure is having fun even if it is hot, hot, hot!
She gets pretty hot, but it doesn’t wear her down at all.
Great photo captures! I’d like to have some of that energy first thing in the morning. lol Here’s to those dog days of summer slipping away quickly for my little furriends. It’s hard enough on us humans but you poor dears with all that fur. Ugh! I’d be like, SHAVE IT OFF!! Have a boogietastic week!
My mom has a lot of energy in the early morning, but Olivia has it all day long! We will be happy when summer is done because the hot weather is no fun.
Awww, it’s good that Olivia is fitting in well. Well perhaps not as well as Bailie would like, but fitting in nonetheless. You have such precious pups.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday. My best to your mom. β₯
Thank you. We are not sure why Bailie doesn’t want to warm up more to Olivia, but we keep waiting for it to happen.
Love your pictures!!!!!!
Thank you.
When you are young, you want to play and have fun, no matter the weather or anything else.
This is true. Even at bedtime, she tries to get wild some nights.
who would think I would be missing SNOW lol. Love those giant paws! Hoping you cooled down like we did!
Yesterday was great, but starting tomorrow it will heat up again!
Great pictures of you girls! Stay cool!
We’re having a couple nice days, but then the heat will return π
Olivia, you are just too funny in the photos. Just love to run around and play in this heat. Hopefully, this weather will be cooling off for everybody soon. Thanks for sharing the lovely photos. Have a great day.
She is a wild and crazy puppy, always having fun.
We are so glad you and Olivia are having some fun in spite of the heat! Maybe Bailie will be more tolerant of her once she gets feeling better. β₯
We’ve been wrestling more inside too since it is so hot out. Last night Olivia had the zoomies inside for about five minutes, all over the place. It was funny.
Puppies are so precious but very precocious! We are pretty sure if another dog ever moves in with us, it will also be a senior like us. Mom still gets puppy fever though and we have to talk her down. BOL!
My mom is all for puppies. Even if she ever gets another kitty, it will be a kitten. She just loves the early time, and bonding with the little ones. Everyone has their own likes and choices which is a good thing.
And you and Bailey NEVER got in Emma’s face or wore her out…right????? GREAT shots!!!
I’m sure we did not as we were model puppies, LOL!
Olivia your still so tiny, I love it and all the pictures.
She is already 20 lbs, and growing like crazy!
Watching the videos and looking at the photos of you three girls reminds me of when we first adopted Ducky. She was all puppy and full of herself. And Callie and Shadow were constantly disciplining her in their own inimitable ways. As she got older and a little more mature, she slowed down a little bit but not much. She still gets the zoomies – both inside and out – but not having her sisters around to play with has slowed her down a bit too.
Playing all by yourself is not as fun as with a pal or two. Sorry Ducky is all alone, but she gets all of your attention now.
