Mommy and me walks are something special in a multi pet home. I love the chance to take a long walk all alone with Mom, getting all of her attention. Usually I have to head out at 6 am which is a bit early, but it is worth it. Yep, that is me yawning on the trail at sunrise. I’m one who would rather sleep in, but once I’m on the road I’m happy.
Sometimes we go on one of Emma’s favorite walks that she named the bunny trails. During warmer times of year, there are often tons of rabbits and squirrels to be seen. Mom talks about Emma to me, and I listen. Sometimes we stop to snuggle because she feels sad, but I don’t mind. My mind is focused on tracking rabbits in the area, no wonder it was a walk she loved.
Did you know dawn and dusk are the best times of the day to see rabbits? That alone makes getting out of bed way too early well worth it. It’s hard to focus on the camera, though because I would not want to miss a rabbit!
We went a bit off road which I really enjoyed. The grass was real wet, and I did start to get dirty, but Mom didn’t care. She says dogs can get cleaned up easily. As long as we are both having a good time, that is what is important on a mommy and me walks. I know a lot of you always ask about my harness. I have a breast bone that sticks out, so the harness sits below it. Once I’m up and walking it looks much better. Trust me, it is not falling off.
It was a real nice walk that we had. It’s a lot of fun having siblings, but sometimes being the only dog is also a great thing to be! My beard was a disaster, but all I had to do was go to the water bowl at home, and it was shiny clean once again! I’m thankful for these one on one walks!
