The annual family vet visit this year was very different from other years. Since I arrived in 2014, it has always been three dogs and two cats, but this year, it was one dog and two cats. Olivia came along only because Mom wanted to check her weight. Mom has been doing family vet visits since 2001, and while the process is not easy, it is worth it to have all of us done and on the same schedule.
I was up first. Of course, I’m the nervous Nelly in the family. Car rides, specifically Mom’s driving, makes me a wreck, and going to the vet does too. I shake and quiver, won’t even eat a treat. It must be done, so I put up with it all, but boy am I relieved when it is finally over with! The doc checked my ears, and they look real good.
My teeth also look fantastic. Out of a score range of four, I am barely a one which means my teeth are almost like brand new. My problem is that belly rash/infection I had last month. It hasn’t gone away completely, and is coming back. I got some topical stuff to put on it, as well as more drugs for two weeks. It doesn’t hurt or itch, but I wish it would leave me alone. None of us dogs needed vaccinations this year, which is super nice!
Bert was happy to be next up. He usually wishes we would forget him at the vet. According to Bert, the vet visit is the best, and most exciting day of the year. That feline is really crazy! Turns out he has tons of dirt and stuff in his ears, so Mom has to clean them out more often I hear.
Sophie is terrified to leave the house, and is nearly impossible to get out of her kennel. She doesn’t fight or bite, but she growls and hisses a lot. Kitty sis Sophie looks great all around, except for some fur mats here and there. Both kitties had to get vaccinations. They are on a different schedule than we dogs are on. For some reason, this time the vaccinations really knocked them both for a loop and they disappeared without eating or anything for about a day.
What about Madison and the annual family vet visit? She had a full exam and complete blood work last month when she was going to be spayed, so she got to stay home, and put her paws up. Does anyone have a guess at how much Olivia weighed in at? She came in at 24.5 lbs. Somehow we need to stop her from growing so much!
We’re joining joining the Brianβs Home Blog Thankful Thursday Blog Hop because we’re thankful for good health!
Vet visits are very traumatic at our house. When kitties see the carriers come out, they take off!
Sophie hits the road, but Bert loves to get out and go to the vet. Weird cat!
WHAT?! Bert not eat? I cannot believe that! I am wondering how much Olivia will weigh when she grows into those paws. Bailie, I wish your rash would go away! XOXO, Sparkle
We really wonder how big Olivia will get, it will be fun to find out one day.
Your mom is very courageous to take all of you at once!!! We do that sometimes but we need two people because of the mayhem π
She brings us all in in a couple trips, then out in a couple. Sometimes the vet tech helps us get in and out too. It’s not easy, but then it is all done for a year.
We agree with KB. That’s a lot of work taking 4 of you at once!
It is, but Mom prefers it over making a couple trips.
Our vet has bunnies and cats in the office so Katie loves to visit.
If our vet had bunnies, they would not have bunnies after our visit! We would be nuts.
I sure am glad all is well and I know you’re all glad to have it over with. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
We enjoyed a day off from the kitties while they went into recovery from their vaccinations but things are back to normal now.
I’m glad all went well, but I was surprised at how much Olivia weighs. She looks so small.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches to the pups. β₯
She is about the same size as I am…already!
Wow…Olivia is bigger than all of us! She sure is growing up fast!
We sure hope your rash heals up soon, Bailie!

Rosy, Jakey & Arty
We think Mom is putting Miracle Grow into Olivia’s meals, LOL!
Whew! Mark that task done! Good job.
Thank goodness!
I’m glad y’all had a good vet visit. We always go together even if one of us is only there for moral support. I hope your rash goes away quickly.
That rash of Bailie’s is a real problem. Hopefully this time it will really disappear.
Glad it went well π
We are glad it is done!
WOW!! Olivia HAS grown fast! I am sorry but the Bert photos are my absolutely FAVORITES! OMC that boy DOES love the Vet! Cody doesn’t mind the Vet usually, but I think that Bert enjoys it even more than Cody! Cody tolerates it, he doesn’t cry in the car or anything. Dakota is super good at the Vet……….always has been, we are grateful for that. Cody doesn’t handle his vaccines that well lately either……..I think as they get older kitties handle them less and less well. They knock Cody out too! tell your kitties, happy International Cat Day! Thanks for all of the well wishes for our Dakota too! xoxo
Mom has never had cats passed out for a day like that. She was ready to take them back to the vet, but they started to perk up again. Keep on feeling better, Dakota!
Mom wishes she could take us both but one of us barks or whines or something. it puts her on edge! Glad you had a good visit!!! your friend Lilly
Mom is stressed the whole time, but still wants to get us all done together.
It sounds like everything went as well as could be expected. Olivia is getting to be such a sweet, big girl!
Olivia is growing so fast, but she is a super good puppy.
We’re glad to hear your vet visit went well and everyone is doing good!
You never know what a vet might find, so we are happy to be in good shape.
that is a haul to take to the vet, 3 dogs and 2 cats..i rarely see pics of baby sis cat, is she camera shy?
Sophie is a hermit. She rarely comes out, even when we are home. Mom says she has always been shy. These are the first two cats Mom ever got as adult cats. If she gets another cat some day, she will go back to kittens as you can train them better and they don’t have the weird quirks that these two do.
Paws up for one brave Mom!
Bailie says we pets are the brave ones because the vet office is a scary place!
Aw, poor Bailie, I hope this new round of treatments for that belly infection finally knocks it out permanently!!
Goodness! Another 5.5 pounds and Olivia will weigh the same as Ducky!
Olivia is huge! Mom says she won’t be able to carry her around for much longer.
I’m glad everyone is in good health except for the rash. It would be great to get all vet visits out of the way at one time. We could not do that because one was all I could handle at a time and all the vet could.
We take up a good hour block of time, but it is great to get it all done at once.
I’m not sure I’ve ever had a dog OR cat who liked going to the vet! That Bert is a crazy one. π Sounds like this year’s visit was a little bit easier, and that Olivia is growing like a weed!
Olivia still likes the vet, and I am not really too upset about it, but Bailie is always terrified.
If she grows into those paws, she is going to weigh 100 lbs,.
!
We think her dad may have been an elephant. Where else could she get such big paws.
I have two cats left now used to have 5 but when they turned 20 the two last years, they said good bye forever. Now the oldest one is 17 and I had to take him to the vet. He changes from a cute, soft, social cat into a wild one. Impossible to take him out of the carrier. The vet had to put him asleep to examinate the poor boy and he had two teeth removed. When I picked him up after 2 hours he was his old self again …. in the car ! He loves riding in a car !
Years ago my mom says she had four cats. We have two now, and that is plenty. Too bad your one is so terrible at teh vet.
