How are we celebrating Labor Day this year at our house? My sisters and I decided to show you all what we will be up to for the day. Originally, the day was started to give workers a day off. Now it seems most people are working on the holiday, so it really isn’t much of a worker’s day off. At our house, we plan to take it easy today.
I checked with Olivia first. She says it is a day for workers to rest, and claims she is working a lot, so she needs some rest. Olivia plans to work hard on her antler with her new chompers today. We like this photo because it shows off some of those shiny new teeth of hers.
Bailie loves an occasion to celebrate! She is hoping to head out to a park, hang out with friends, and do some grilling. I think it is all a dream as I don’t see Mom letting her have the car to do that today. It’s hard to believe, last year Emma was grilling for us.
What about me? Well, since Mom has me locked up tight to recover from my surgery, I’m hanging out on the floor because I’m not allowed to climb or jump. While hanging out, I’m dreaming about eight days from now when I can start getting my life back!
Hopefully you don’t have to work like a dog today on a worker’s holiday! Happy Labor Day!
We are joining Comedy Plus for the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
oooh bbq sounds good! count us in please ;O) Happy Labor day to you all
I bet Mom will put on a steak for herself and not think of us!
Madison, I feels bad for you. Your mom is doing a better job of keeping you calm than my mom did with Puffin! You know how kids are…they seem to recover quickly. I am sure you all miss Emma’s grilling – I sure do miss Emma. Have a very safe Labor Day! XOXO, Sparkle
Mom is tempted to let me do what I want, but then she remembers that I don’t understand why I can’t be wild and she won’t let me hurt myself, so I’m going to be frustrated for another week. Enjoy your Labor Day. Hope the hurricane doesn’t do much in your area.
Looks like some good plans! Similar plans over here! Amazing to think about last year at this time with Dash and Emma. Makes mom sad. Gotta live and love each day fully. Have a good labor day Madison. Keep resting up and feeling better. your friend Lilly
It is sad, but we have dealt with it and have our new pack. Mom, on the other paw, is still crying a lot, and we, like you, are coming up on days that will be really hard for her. Losing Emma taught us that this quote is so very true. “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.β All that is certain is the moment right now. Hugs to you and your mom, and Happy Labor Day.
Happy Labor Day sweeties and hang in there Madison, 8 days will breeze by before you know it!
I think it may be more difficult for mom because I am quite tired of being on restricted activity, and I let her know it.
Sounds like you’ve got this holiday weekend thing DOWN! Happy Labor Day!
A nice peaceful day is always a good thing.
it is so hard to imagine that beloved Emma is not with you celebrating this day of rest. she was such a great cook. she could teach Bailie a few things abt grilling. i bet Emma is cooking for all of her friends in heaven. sorry you are locked up, but i am sure your mom will let you out to enjoy some of the day with her. Olivia celebrating her first Labor Day. tell her to be careful with those antlers, many dogs crack or split a tooth. just ran into a ems person at the dog show that said his german shepherd split her back tooth in half.
We have antlers and marrow bones. So far, no problems, but we do love them. None of us are real aggressive chewers. Mom really misses Emma.
Special days and even some ordinary days do bring memories – those may make us sad. Yes as you mentioned in another comment, TODAY is a gift to be thoroughly experienced. We still miss our big girl Star (German Shepherd) and sometimes feel she is still here with us.
We see signs of Katie and Emma, but they usually make Mom cry. Still, she loves the three of us, and we have a lot of fun and enjoy any time we have together.
You each are doing your part today. Especially you, Madison. You need to get well before you’re allowed to resume your regular jumping and zoomies. You’ll get there.
All three of you are huge Awwws.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday, and Labor Day. My best to your mom. β₯
Life is boring, so I’m learning to sleep like a cat…that means all day and all night. Next week can’t happen fast enough.
We got a great walk in this morning and we expect showers for this afternoon. Hang in there, Madison. We hope the days will fly by for you!
Bailie had a nice run, Olivia went tracking and got two walks, I got to go around the block and hang out with Mom for a couple hours, on the floor, of course. It is not easy.
It was a drizzly morning here today so we got to sleep in…but, we are starting to see a bit of sun and think it’s about time to have Mama take us out for a walk!!
Happy Labor Day!
xoxo,
Rosy, Jakey & Arty
I got my short walk, everyone else has been out and about having fun. I feel sorry for myself, but Mom says I have to rest.
Having already been to work and done errands, i like your idea, Olivia!
Mom has been really busy today, but she calls it relaxing because work is not binging her email constantly.
We here in St. Louis are laboring to avoid Mom, who is bent on getting the house de-cluttered. LAY LOW and KEEP QUIET – that is our motto!
The Boys
Oh dear! Hide your favorite toys so they don’t disappear!
Sometimes relaxing/resting/healing at home is a GOOD thing! Idle time allows us to reflect, you will be back to your activities in no time!!! Happy Labor Day!
Mom said she would gladly trade places with me, but we don’t know how to make that a reality. She say she would love to do nothing for a week.
Luke had to help me bake cookies today. He loves his job as clean-up crew and chief taste tester though! π
Olivia and Bailie would love that job too! Enjoy the rest of the day.
We relaxed and laid in the sun. Happy Labor Day!
Sounds like a perfect day to me!
The good thing is that on labour day you don’t work ! It’s funny that you have labour day in September and in Europe it is the first of May !
Anyway a day off work is always welcome. I am retired so I don’t appreciate anymore, lol !
Mom will take any days off she can find. She loved living in Germany, especially Bavaria, as they have so many holidays!
A nice relaxing day.
