We are preparing our kitties for winter at our house. The past week has had highs in the forties, and we will be back to that in a few more days. Last weekend, we even had some snow. Kitties love warmth, so we are making sure they stay warm with the colder weather. Sometimes I’m not sure cat bro Bert appreciates our help, but we try our best.
Fall Scratcher House
Every year Mom buys the cats a scratcher house at Christmas time. This year, Gramma told us Aldi was selling one for fall. Of course, Mom had to go and get one. Both Bert and Sophie like scratcher houses, but Bert is the biggest fan! As soon as construction was completed, he moved right in.
This house is a real bargain at half the price of the ones Mom usually buys, and it is a double long, not to be confused with a double wide in a trailer park. It is actually the size of two of the usual homes we buy for half the price of one!
Not only does this home has a front door, it has a side door, and lots of windows, plus two scratcher pads! Mom is a Realtor, and she says it is the best deal on the market for homes this fall!
Our only hope is that we don’t end up with a domestic dispute again! Bert and Sophie sometimes get a bit rough. Back in 2016, they destroyed their home and we had to call in the cops!
Cat Snuggle Cube
Bert also loves this soft sided cube bed he reviewed a while back. During the warm months we put it away because he won’t use it, but now we find him snuggled in there quite a bit.
Olivia has taken it upon herself to remove the pillow often and shake it out. Bert complains of a slobbery wet pillow after she is done, but we feel she is doing him a favor!
Fireplace Wars
Soon it will be time for the evening fireplace wars. Thankfully we dogs outnumber Bert, so we do usually get the best spot, but he does fight for the spot he wants.

Bert should have been named Trouble as he is always in trouble. He spends a lot of time in the basement to keep him out of mischief in the rest of the house, but overall, he is a nice guy.
They sure look ready and quite happy too!
Sophie is still pretty much either on or under our bed all the time, but Bert enjoys being out and about, getting new things.
It’s good to have places for the kitties to hid. I love that last shot the best. So typical of cats and pups living together. The cats always win.

Evenings by the fireplace are one of the highlights of winter.
What a cute Fall house. We hope this one is well built to withstand any battles that happen. We are laughing at you removing Bert’s pillow from his cube bed, Olivia. Your kitties look like fun. I’ve never met a kitty so I wouldn’t know.
Overall, kitties are a real pain in the furs for dogs, but we manage. Hopefully the double long won’t be blown up like the other houses the felines have had.

We asked our cat how we could help her get ready for winter and she told us to go away and leave her alone.
That would be our kitty sis Sophie. She spends her life in voluntary isolation upstairs on or under the bed. We rarely see her.
Wow, that is quite the scratcher house! We’d say your kitties have it pretty good, and are all set for winter. We love how Olivia shakes out the pillow for Bert!
Bert is not happy about his pillow being messed with, but Olivia feels driven to do it for him, a lot.

That cube looks like something Pierre would like too! A fireplace is a must-have where you live and I don’t think I’d ever move from in front of it. LOL!
We all pile up there pretty much every evening if we are home.
We are getting the cat beds ready, it keeps the cats off the cold floor so they can sleep in comfort.
I don’t think our cats have ever lacked in the comfort department, but they are pretty spoiled.
