Olivia had her Tracking Dog Test at Kinnickinnic State Park in Wisconsin just over a week ago. It was a gorgeous day, and after her test, we did some hiking around the park for fun.
The morning and the view in the park was stunning. This photo is the actual area where Olivia had her test. Olivia loves to track, and she is really good, especially for a puppy, but she is a puppy. It was a rough start as she kept going off track the first leg, but finally she made the first turn. Rather than getting going, she chose to track something else, and after a time, the whistle was blown. Who knows what she was smelling, but she was really into it. Dogs are allowed to finish their tracks if they would like, which Mom had her do. She was put back on the track, and she ran the rest of the track perfectly, at her usual high speed. Stuff happens! She will try again in the spring.
Rather than be all bummed out, Mom was happy Olivia found her groove again and finished her track strong. Since we were already in the park, we decided to do some hiking before we went to our play date with Birdie. We went down by the river for our walk. The trees were pretty, and they reflected nicely in the river.
Two things we don’t like about Kinnickinnic State Park are that they don’t allow dogs in many areas, and they have no trash cans. It never fails that someone has to do their business, but who wants to drive home with that in the car? Luckily, we reviewed the Poo Vault a while back, and keep it in our car. Olivia was the poo culprit this time, so we locked it up and didn’t mind having it with us in the car at all.
Dogs are not allowed on beaches or in picnic areas. We found this dock that was pulled up on shore at the edge of the beach. We decided to go on it for a photo anyway. Mom never has a problem breaking such rules.
The last shot we took was me on a log…aka…a dog on a log. It was a fun little hike on a perfect weather morning. I’m sure we will be back for future tracking tests.

It was absolutely picture perfect, except for not passing the test!

It was a perfect fall morning!
OhMyPups …. such a beautiful place, and the pups posed so well … your photos are beyond awesome!
Thank you. We enjoyed our little hike there in the woods.
Wow! I am amazed you can spell Kinnickinnic! That is a woofer full. Those are lovely autumn pictures, but you make them beautiful. XOXO, Sparkle
It is a tough name to spell, but since we all test there, Mom has learned it pretty well.
Awesome post! Looks like a fun hike!! Mom and I giggled when you said, “Olivia was the poo culprit.” Ha! Chester would be that for us. I swear the guy has to go whenever we go somewhere fun! Whenever we go anywhere! The colors on your hike look beautiful. So glad you could share such a nice morning! have a good day, your friend Lilly
Actually, Olivia rarely goes anytime but first thing in the morning. Of course, on the day she had a test, she didn’t go, so she went later on our walk! Chester may need a Poo Vault!
Such a pretty place for a hike and you are a wonderful log dog!
Just a couple of dogs on logs make for nice photos.
Wagnificent hike! πππΎππΎ
It was the ideal morning for hiking.
Lovely ladies in a lovely park!
Why thank you. We are blushing under our facial furs.
Your autumn colors are just outstanding! Beautiful photos, girls!
Thank you. It was the perfect fall day!
It looks like a great place and a great day, and once Olivia gets used to staying at it, sheβs going to be awesome!
In all her sports, the first time or two are usually tough, but then she gets it and does great. She’s young, plenty of time to try again.
wowzers some very nice photos.
Thank you.
oh the colors are glorious!!!!!! I hiked last fall in a gorgeous park we have here, haven’t gotten there yet this year……hoping I do before all of the leaves are gone!
Our leaves are really on the way out with the frosty weather we have now. Hope you get out to see some before they all fall.
What a beautiful day and a wonderful story of little Olivia, we love hearing about her progress. I love the dog on a log and giggled when you told us about your poo vault – MOL! It’s a practical thing, a poo vault, but still makes me giggle.
It is a funny but practical thing we seem to need a few times every year!
What a pretty place to have a test and then get to walk afterwards. It’s too bad about the restrictions, but good for your Mom breaking the rules a little! Who’s going to be on the beach this time of year anyway? π
We figured only some nutcase would be on a beach in the cold, so breaking rules was safe.
What a beautiful place for a walk! We can relate to the “no dogs” thing. Do you know that none of the Redwood National Parks forest trails allow dogs?? Sheesh!

It’s sad when no dogs are allowed. Sometimes there are good reasons, and sometimes it is just because some humans don’t know how to follow rules with their dogs.
What a wonderful place to visit! Your trees have already changed but ours are just beginning to turn.
It’s a leafy mess now, as most of the leaves have fallen with our cold frosty mornings.
