It’s Sioux Falls road trip time! This time was my third, but it was all new for Olivia! We buckled into our seats and waited for Mom to get us out onto the open road! Going to South Dakota also added a fifth state to the list of states Olivia has been to. From our house it is a super easy three hour and forty five minute drive.
On the way, we had to make our first stop in Blue Earth, home of the Green Giant. Bailie and Emma first went there in 2015. I made my first visit in November 2018, and now it was Olivia’s turn to meet the Green Giant and Lil Sprout. Because the real Green Giant is so big, we didn’t do any photos with him this time. Instead, Olivia posed with Lil Sprout.
Cruising along the I 90, our next stop is always at Jackson. We like to visit a friend there, and this time we took a couple photos at the fairgrounds too. This old rail car made for a fun photo opp. Do we look like a couple of bums riding the rails, or what?
The old gas station also makes for a fun photo. There was a lot of water, ice, and mud, so it was a bit difficult to get the right set up.
When we arrived in Sioux Falls, it was almost dinnertime. Mom wanted to take us to Scheels, a big, dog friendly store. She says it is a good experience for us. We went, but it was super busy, so we didn’t do photos, and only stayed about ten minutes. Olivia has never been in such a store, and it really wore her out! On the way to the car, we did stop by one of their Christmas trees for a quick photo with the phone (a bit blurry).
Saturday was a beautiful day and we had planned to go for a fun walk by the river, but since our trial ran so late, it was dark, and we were all too tired out. During the day, we did take a walk on the road to the greenhouse place where our trial was at. It was nice to just get away and stretch our legs a bit.
The scenery on our walk was fabulous – dirt and dried up corn. Actually, we enjoyed sniffing all the good smells in the ground, but Mom found it a bit boring. The whole walk was only about a mile, but it was enough for us.
Right before the parking lot, we stopped for a last shot with the water behind us. Maybe on our next Sioux Falls road trip we can get to some more interesting places if we don’t have to stay at the trial so long.
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.
Great post. Gail and I love the ‘two bums riding the railroad’ photo!
And Gail and I often don’t quite agree on what constitutes a scenic and interesting walk. These humans with there feeble sense of smell are so limited, aren’t they?
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
I know, they miss the best part of walking by not sniffing. Walks are great, but we need more sniffing time.
There are beginning to look like twins.
We look very similar, but I am a lot smaller, and Olivia is all white on her left side, I have my black spots all over my back. Sometimes in a rush, Mom mixes us up.
we love the green giant and also da ole rail wagon… we hope we can sleep in such a wagon next year when we go on tour (if we will be well-bee hived)
Here we can’t do that, but Mom has told me about how her dogs in Germany road on trains. Have a howling good time!
Lovely photos!
Thank you.
It sure looks like you two got to see lots of fun things on your road trip!
We love car rides, but it is good to get out and see fun stuff too.
What a fun trip you had with the mom. It’s good to get Olivia up to speed on your trips. So fun.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your mom. β₯
She has a lot of catching up to do, but we know she will be traveling plenty and get to see lots of things in the future.
It looks like it was a very interesting trip! We can’t believe how big Olivia is getting. We have to look twice now to figure out which of you is which! We can see the differences though and think Olivia’s face looks more like Bailie’s.
Olivia and Bailie both have tan freckles here and there, my face and ears are jet black, and Olivia is white on her left side, I have spots. Other than that, Olivia is exactly between me and Bailie in height. Mom sometimes confuses the two of us if she isn’t paying 100% attention.
I think Lil Sprout is so cute. The train photo is terrific too!
We love Lil Sprout. The Green Giant isn’t really cute, but Sprout sure is.
NOTHING is as BEAUTIFUL as you both! Have a happy weekend! XOXO, Sparkle
Thank you. Hope you are having a great weekend.
great shots! Yes, you look like (ladies and the) Railroad tramps
We had some fun with some interesting places.
Wow, this looks like you had such a pawsome road trip. Just look at all of the wonderful places you were able to visit. Thanks for sharing the lovely photos. Have a wonderful upcoming weekend.
Thank you. Mom says it is important to her that we get out to see as much of the world as we can.
It sounds like the trials really were a bit of a trial this time! Glad you snuck in some fun wherever you could.
It was a rough weekend for me. Olivia did pretty well, but stuff happens. We still had a fun time.
Wow! Madison, I didn’t realize you are the smallest. When did Loivia get bigger than you?
I’m a really small Grand. Olivia has been towering over me for a while now.
Luv dat pic of y’all on the rail car!
Thank you. It was a good find.
What a fun trip and you are so brave to stand so close to Lil Sprout, Olivia!
She is pretty brave if things are not moving.
lil sprout is so freaken cute I would want a picture by him too.
Simple head west on I-90 and get off at Blue Earth. You can’t miss it!
