Leaf hunting is one of Bailie’s favorite pastimes. She started chasing leaves down the street as a young puppy and has never outgrown her love of it. Leaves are great, but she adores the chase of anything moving in front of her, thus her love of FastCAT as a sport. FastCat is simply chasing a lure, and she is crazy about it. When she sees an object move, she first freezes and you can see in her body position, she is up to something.
Next she takes off after the “prey”. See how she is even smiling as she begins her chase. Olivia is completely aloof as to what is going on. She does enjoy the chase too, but not like Bailie.
With the wind blowing strong over the icy snow, Bailie even manages to restyle her hair during the hot pursuit. How does the girl do it? Notice her complete focus on the little leaf in front of her.
She realizes it is not alive, and not food, so she proceeds to hunt for her next victim, another poor leaf.
It doesn’t take long, and Bailie has another fascinating, blowing, leaf in sight.
With twenty mile an hour wind gusts, leaves move fast. Bailie wastes no time, and heads off on the chase!
Mom says we all hunt a bit like cats. We are calm and quite, stalk our prey, and then bam! Once we are on it, we pounce like a cat.
Time for some more speed as that tricky leaf is getting away!
Bailie is closing in on the unsuspecting leaf.Β Her landing gear, aka paws, are preparing to hit the ground to slow her down.
This is it, the moment she has been waiting for in the leaf hunt.Β The leaf has been captured, and actually smashed into the snow with her front paw.
Bailie is the most immature of the three of us. She is an eternal puppy, but we love her for that. Her curiosity is always fun to watch, and she just enjoys being a silly girl most of the time. Does your dog participate in the fine art of leaf hunting?
We are joining Comedy Plus for the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
She looks so sad that the lead disappeared.
I am sad, but I perk right up when the next leaf blows by π
we love that too… but you are the most elegant leaves huntress ever!!!
Thank you. I love chasing anything that blows by.
(Sorry to be so absent for so long, sick computer …) Glad we didn’t miss this adorable post ‘n’ pictures! Snow Dogs … surprised there was a little leaf to chase …. good catch, or rather good try! We only have crunchy ice atop solid ice with no ice skates.
We have some crunch on top too which is ideal for blowing leaves, and I can crash through without a problem.
Bailie is just so darn funny! She is so fun to watch. A free spirit to chase whatever is blowing in the wind. XOXO, Sparkle
Mom says I’m just a puppy who will never grow up, and I’m fine with that.
Such a sweet Bailie face and we love seeing that happy leaf hunt!
I bet kitties enjoy watching blowing leaves too.
We all have our passions and that’s a good thing. Great shots as always.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to the pups. β₯
Thank you. Some passions that are the best are simple.
Awww, Bailie the leaf hunting master!
I am pretty good at it.
Aw, Bailie is so cute chasing those leaves! Ducky would rather hunt and chase squirrels, chipmunks, and – as I learned last summer – bees.
I also am an avid fly hunter, and of course rabbits and squirrels. Leaf hunting keeps me in shape.
Bailie!! This is Chester β I LOVE hunting for leaves! And my style is pretty close to yours but Iβm a bit more clutzy!! This is an awesome post!! My mom made sure I saw it. Have a great dayβgo hunt leaves! your friends Chester and Lilly
Thank you, Chester. You are probably like Olivia, seem pretty grown up, but often still a clumsy puppy. Enjoy that time as you will be a full adult soon enough π

Love the smile on Bailie’s face!
Nothing like a good chase!
fabulous action shots! I hope Bailie never outgrows her puppy-hood! She is so fun to watch. There has to be at least one clown in every family. I am the Crowned clown in ours! I stalk anything that moves! Elbe aka LB (my birth name).
Bailie is 6 1/2, and still does puppy stuff a lot, so we don’t think she will ever outgrow it.
We love how Bailie makes her own fun! Hmmm….I’m trying to remember if any of our dogs were ever leaf chasers. It seems like at least one of them was, but I can’t remember who!
Mom gets really mad sometimes because I chase blowing things on walks and almost yank her arm out of the socket, or so she says!
You look like you’re having so much fun chasing those leaves, Bailie. I pick up tons of leaves in my beard on walkies but I’ve never chased them before.
I have them all over in my furs too, but chasing is the best!
Of course my cats love leaf hunting too ! but never in such a snow ! They just put a paw in this white stuff and then are disgusted and return inside. Your photos are very nice and I see that the dogs are so happy to play in the snow !
We all love the snow, but the cats, not at all. They would chase leaves if there wasn’t snow.
Bailie, i am glad you have such a fun pastime!
It is fun and keeps me in shape for real hunting.
hahaha what a fun day out in the snow. Great pictures.
Nothing beats leaf chasing for Bailie, well, except a rabbit or squirrel.
I’ll chase em sometimes (especially in the fall when there’s TONS).
I prefer to chase when there are only a few or just one of something.
Wowsers! That Bailie is a natural hunter!
(of course we read Tuesday’s post before this and know just how good she is BOL!)
xoxo,
Rosy, Jakey & Arty
She is a real hunter and loves it.
Sigh…leaves always leave. BOL!!
They sure do, LOL!
