Pooch Smooches are the subject of the next day of Valentine’s week! Love often includes smooching, and we pups love to smooch our humans. Fresh breath makes it much easier for us dogs, so today I’m making breath freshener cookies for us pups!
I’m trying my paws at some more baking. This is a bit more complicated than my previous endeavors. There are six ingredients needed to make these tasty, cookies for good dog breath. You can use either mint or peppermint extract for flavor. Actually, I also added natural red food coloring made from beets to give the cookies a pink coloring.
For starters, you will need a mixing bowl and a big spoon to stir with.
Put all the ingredients except for the water into the bowl and mix it up nicely.
Slowly add water until it is a good consistency
to lick, I mean eat, I mean to make into cookies.
Uh oh! I made my cookies, put them on the cookie sheet and then Mom told me I forgot to grind up the oats into a powder. I said it doesn’t matter because they taste so good, but Mom says they don’t look nice. If I look at it now, I can see it is kind of a mess.
Since I don’t know how to grind up oats, Mom stepped in and made some with ground oats. They do look a lot better and Mom could cut them out in heart shapes.
The cookies came out of the oven and looked great. Nothing like a heart in a heart for Valentines day! I sure hope the Pooch Smooches give me really nice, kissable breath!
I was ready to have a taste. Because they smell so nice and minty while baking, I hung out around the kitchen the entire time.
If you would like to make your own Pooch Smooches, it is not that hard, and they taste great. Even better is the fresh breath your pup will have! Click here to download my recipe, and happy baking!

We are ready for lots of smooching!
We are going to make some this weekend!!! Thanks for the recipe. Maybe you should think on making a cookbook with all your delicious recipe ideas – “The French Hounds Cook”?
We always wanted Emma to make a cookbook as she was the master. Maybe one day we will make one.
They look so yummy and we LOVE your apron! We saw you girls at Westminster last night and we cheered for youβΊ
Thank you. I think it is the second year for us at Westminster.
Those sound so good. Will have to try that!
They are easy if you grind the oats, but I didn’t figure that part out. Moms can save a pups day.
Not too bad for a beginner. I bet you all have lovely kisses without the minty fresh cookie! I know I have nice breath to give my daily kisses. XOXO, Sparkle
I’m an in the face kind of puppy, so I really need nice puppy breath. Enjoy your kisses.
Perfect timing! we are low on treats and it is cold here. we just need to break out the cookie cutters!! Elbe has never even see them, but I have! Chablis
OOps! We forgot to thank you for the recipe!
Make the cookies, eat some, then go hunting for girls π
Guess what we’ll be doing on Saturday. Alex just loved the other cookies – the ones with bacon fat. Hope he like mint.
I bet he likes mint. Mom couldn’t believe how crazy I was about these cookies. I could barely get them in the oven because I just wanted to eat them.
Yummy! Those sound delish and we all need kissable breathe!
A pup must have kissable breath!
What a great recipe, and wonderful tutorial! Mama has printed out the recipe to add it to our collection!
xoxo,
Rosy, Jakey & Arty
I bet you guys will love them, and fresh breath is always a good thing!
Those are quite similar to the Minty treats we make and sell in our shop! Your heart shape definitely makes them more attractive though!
I’m glad you have breath freshener in your shop. We pups need it sometimes and these recipes are tasty!
Those would be great to make with our pooch, Jezzie. Thank you!
I bet Jezzie will go nuts over them like we do! Enjoy!
What a great recipe and ‘pawfect’ for a furry loveβ£οΈ
Kissable breath is a must!
Oh, they look good enough for us hoomans to eat!! I just opened a new bag of Miss Jan’s minty fresh dog cookies for Ducky last night. (She loves them!) I’m not a baker, but your recipe looks easy enough.
It doesn’t get much easier to make. You could do it!
