Love between a dog and a cat is real, in some cases. Take me and Bert as an example. We fight like crazy, but sometimes we have very tender, loving moments together. It is rather embarrassing, but Mom found it, in her own words, adorable.
Personally, I think Bert just wanted to get the window bed from me and was trying to butter me up. In the end I did leave, and he took it over, so I guess the feline won!
Mom just happened to be at her desk when this whole “love” scene evolved. She captured it with her camera as she does with most everything we do around here. At first Bert wasn’t sure about schmoozing with me.
Then it started…he put his nose to my nose. Either he is very brave or stupid as I could put his head in my mouth if I wanted to.
On the bright side of things, he seems to take a submissive pose which means he knows dogs rule around here.
Cat bro Bert kept wanting to go head to nose with me. Is this how to show love between a dog and a cat? I really don’t know.
I have no logical explanation for why I didn’t bite him or something. Maybe I felt a bit sorry for him trying so hard to be nice to me.
Who knows what kind of weird stuff runs through a cat’s mind? I sure do not. Still it was nice he felt like cuddling with me before stealing my bed. Once he wakes up from his nap in our dog bed, we will give him a good chase again. Maybe we dogs do love him, but it is hard to admit until you are caught on film! Thanks a lot, Mom!

It was a rare shot. Usually we are arguing and he is beating me up on the nose.
LOL! Even crazy puppies can have tender moments. We think Bert wanted you to lick his head and clean his ears. That is what our dog friends who have cats for siblings do.

I will not clean the cat! He beats me up a lot, so I tackle him a lot, but we had a moment of truce.

It is more of a love/hate thing but we do all like him somewhat.

We are friends, but we also spend a lot of time fighting like cats and dogs.

Cats know that they are both predator and prey, so they are wary. Once they warm up to you and accept your friendship, though, you can count yourself as chosen. Rubbing his head on you is his way of marking you as part of his family.
Yes, we’ve had cats and dogs that were good friends. It can happen.
Most of the time we fight. I chase, or he beats on my with his paws and claws, but we did have these moments.

That is so sweet! My German Shepard and my tabby cat were best friends for years. They died a week a part and I’m sure it was from a broken heart.
Normally we are fighting, so this was a very unusual moment!
