Today, let’s look at the firsts in my second six months of life. I’m a lucky puppy as I have gotten to do a lot of things many pups don’t get to do. Mom loves to make sure we all get to experience as much as possible in life, and I have gotten to do that.
At six months old, there was a lot starting to go on in my life since I was old enough to start doing some sports, and October is a month with where holidays start to pop up. Right before turning seven months old, I went with Madison on my first road trip. We went to Iowa, and I got to also stay in a hotel for the very first time. It sure was a lot of fun, but Mom wasn’t happy that I wanted to be so loud in the room all the time. With practice, I’ve gotten better about keeping my voice down.
I turned seven months old the end of October. For my photo shoot, Mom took me to the apple orchard. It was a fun place with lots of things to sniff.
Halloween is also in October. It was my first one, and I dressed in orange. My sisters and I were trolls, each in our own color for the big event!
Early November brought me my very first snowfall. I fell in love right away. It’s easy to see why my family loves snow and winter so much.
I turned eight months old the end of November. The snow we had was long gone, but we were hoping for more.
November also brought me my first Thanksgiving. Since I love to eat, I was really excited about all the food Mom was making for the holiday, but then I found out it was not for us dogs and that was quite disappointing!
December meant my first Christmas month. Boy is that holiday full of activities! Mom brought us each our own
treat dispenser Advent Calendar. How fun is this thing! The only problem is I was limited to opening just one door a day.
I was forced to go visit this weird dude in a big red outfit with a fake beard. Mom was so excited about it but I found it positively terrifying and even worse that she actually let that guy try to hold onto me! Humans have strange ideas about fun at times. Thankfully I wriggled myself out of his grip and we got to go home.
We had to pose together for a Christmas photo with our tree. That wasn’t so bad. Christmas overall is a pretty fun holiday to celebrate.
On Christmas Day, I turned nine months old. It was great as that snow was back which is not only fun, but pretty for photos.
Next up came my first new year, 2020, the year of perfect vision. Our visions were perfect until the virus thing hit, now 2020 is a most imperfect year in my eyes.
January was my first trip to the torture chamber. Once again my mom failed me, leaving me with strangers who did terrible things to me like a bath, blow dry, messing with my furs and nails. Poor Madison was stuck going along with me too.
I turned ten months old the end of January. Mom told me I was a perfect ten. Most likely, she is right about that as I am pretty proud of myself and think I am the best hound around.
In February, I turned eleven months old. No big firsts really in February besides Valentine’s Day, but since I’m too young for a boyfriend, it wasn’t a big deal for me. That pretty much wraps up the firsts in my second six months of life. Tomorrow I’ll be howling about my accomplishments. Stop by for some of my proud moments.
I’m joining Comedy Plus for the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
You and your mom make a perfect pair. Love finds love.
Yes, we are pretty tight, but she has a special bond with each of us.
The second half of your year was awesome too, love the Halloween photo.
Nothing like Mom dressing me up like a troll!
That was a fun look back, you sure got to experience lots of fun things!
Until about a week ago, we were always out and about doing new things, seeing new places. Now we are only out and about for walks in places where no one else it. This will pass.
A wonderful wrap up!!! Canβt wait for tomorrowβs post!!!
Thank you. We just wish we could get back to our sports. My tracking test yesterday cancelled which was a bummer, and so have three other trials I was entered in for nose and scent work. Mom says she thinks it will be summer before we will get back to competing. It’s such a big part of our lives, it is weird without it.
omg so much things you did the first time!!! we love the santa photo this is priceless!!!
That guy is a weirdo. I don’t want to visit him again. What was my mom thinking handing me over to him???
Yes, the Santa photo is priceless!!! So fun to see all you have done in your first year of life. You are one lucky hound!
I’ve had a pretty fun and successful first year, but for me it is the norm.
BOL BOL BOL ‘who is this clown’!! That was off the charts priceless. You had so many wonderful experiences.
Way back about 1973 or ’74, we took a daughter to visit the Easter Bunny. One look at that bunny with a head the size of Texas sent her running down the mall. When her daddy caught up with her she said, ” that monster bunny better not come in my house”.
Santa didn’t bother her but oh that Easter Bunny
Hugs Cecilia
My sisters went to the Easter bunny last year, but thankfully that won’t happen to me this year! The only good thing about the virus social distancing. Santa was just plain weird and I hope I never have to see him again. Mom says none of her other pups have ever not liked him, but I’m smart and can tell when someone is not right.
Well, at least almost all of your new experiences were good ones, Olivia! We imagine you’ll get used to those that you didn’t like (hopefully!). We can just imagine how long your list of accomplishments is going to be!!
I have some things I don’t like that seem scary, but we keep working on those.
You are all so special and your mom is the very best of all. What a wonderful birthday you’re having.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. My best to your mom. β₯
So far, I’m really liking this birthday thing.
We loved seeing all your flashback photos. They are all lovely and so are you!
Thank you. It is fun to go back and remember all the things I have done since I was born.
You are the cutest girl ever, Olivia. Love your first snowfall picture!
For snow and I, it was love at first sight. What a great and fun thing snow is.
You have been growing up so pretty and so smart! You have a wonderful birthday sweet Olivia, you earned it!
I know I will have a real fun day!
You have done so much in just ONE year! I have had my paws full puppy sitting my little stinker – I mean sister – Puffin. she is a paw full! XOXO, Sparkle
I have my mom and my sisters to take care of me, so the burden of my puppyhood is shared. Overall, though, I’ve been a good puppy.
What a wonderful first year you had Olivia…just imagine what the next year will bring!!
xoxo,
Rosy, Jakey & Arty
Right now my year of one looks like being stuck at home, but we hope things improve and we can get back to travel and sports.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful post. We enjoyed so much the second half of the first year so much as well. We love all the wonderful photos that you shared of all the great times. Have a wonderful day and hope next year will be pawsome as well.
Thank you. We all hope this virus mess clears up in the world so we can get back to our regular lives soon, but it sure doesn’t look like that is happening.
You sure have had a remarkable year!
Mom did pretty well at her first dog homeschooling attempt.
Youβve become a beautiful young lady dog!
Thank you. I’ll probably turn from cute to pretty soon.
You are so lucky to be in your family! You really have done more in your first year than most dogs ever do. Weβre looking forward to see your second year of fun.
We sure hope we can get back to sports trials soon, but Mom says she thinks it will be a while until things start up again.
