A backyard is such a wonderful thing to have. Being hounds, our recall isn’t the best, so we are not allowed to run free in unfenced areas. Mom doesn’t like or trust the invisible fences, so we are lucky to have a regular fenced yard. A yard is good for so many things dogs and humans might want to do.
As you know, sometimes we enjoy racing and chasing around. Being able to run around helps us stay in good condition and burns calories so we can have more treats. Running doesn’t always have to be with another dog or person, it can be simply racing around with a favorite outdoor toy.
Bailie enjoys sniffing around tracking rabbits and sometimes squirrels. This area where she is standing is where many rabbits get in and out of our yard. We actually caught one there a couple years ago as it tried to escape but got caught in the fence.
Olivia finds prancing around teasing others with a stolen toy to be a lot of fun. Being young, she doesn’t just hang out doing nothing very often like Bailie and I do.
In the evenings, Bailie loves to just lie in the grass, sniff the breezes, and watch the world go by. For her it is very relaxing.
We have a few chew bones around the yard and Olivia loves to hang out and chew on them sometimes. Being outside is a nice change from indoors with all the fresh air.
You all know I love to roll around in the grass, but I also love to stretch out. It feels so good to have a good stretch. Mom says when she was looking for a house when she moved back from Germany, she had some criteria. One was a deck, and the other was an already fenced backyard. We are super thankful she found the fenced backyard! Does your dog have a backyard she loves?

Thatβs one thing we would need to do if we wanted to get a dog, fix the fences. You are all beautiful when you are playing!
A good fence is important. Mom is always checking ours to make sure nothing is broken.
I have a big backyard too and it is fenced as well. Puffin and I usually go out together (we have doggy doors.) We run, play, roll in the grass, stretch, and sunbathe in the yard. Sometimes we sneak a toy into the yard. We also chase any critters or birds that are in the yard. Yards are so much fun! XOXO, Sparkle
We do love ours but Mom lets us in and out because she likes to know when we are outside so she can keep an eye on us.
You are lucky to have a backyard. We donβt have those in the city.
In the city it would be tough, but if you are not used to a yard, you wouldn’t miss it.
Alex likes to sit on the patio next to me! We also play fetch and tag!
Fetch doesn’t work with us because we never bring things back, but we love to chase.
Hooray for back yards! We love ours too! My brother Dash used to bury bones and then he would go out and search for them. It always made mom laugh. My brother Chester just LOVES to run and run and run in our backyard. Lately mom has watched him sitting on the edge of our patio and just watching. That makes mom smile too. Me? I like the backyard okay. Mom wonders if being a little older I am more of a sit near mom kind of dog now. Great photos! Awesome post! your friend Lilly
Mom says no matter what age, her dogs have always loved to be out in the yard. Hanging out close to mom is a good thing to do, though. We all love some time with our mom. You probably do too.
We have a backyard too, although we do not have any lovely grass like yours does.
Our grass is just getting green now, but it has been ugly brown for a long time from the winter. Mom won’t water it because she doesn’t want it to grow too much.
You sure were having fun with in your backyard and you’re lucky to have a nice fenced yard. When we had our doggies they had an invisible fence but before they moved here they had a big backyard, and they totally loved it. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Many do have the invisible fence, but Mom doesn’t trust it. She doesn’t even trust our fence, but she is kind of a helicopter mom.
Hey, you girls took our tennis shoe!!! I wondered where it went! Our mom fenced our yard right away after they moved in (before we were even born). Dad put a hang over ledge on it (that has become a squirrel racetrack) because LB climbs!
Chablis
Wow, a climber! So far Mom has never had a dog try to jump or climb over the fence, even with deep snow, and she wants it to stay that way.
Mom is right about a fence. It eliminates all kinds of worries and you all need to be able to run and play. I sure enjoy seeing you run and play.
I’m thankful I found you and your mom.
Have a woof woof Thankful Thursday. My best to your smart mom. β₯
Thank you. We are thankful to have you. We miss your boating adventures. Hope you can get back to them this summer.
You’re sure putting that backyard to good use. You all look so cute and are so joyful, have a great day pups!
Mom says the only thing missing is a revolving door because we want to go in and out all the time, but she doesn’t want a doggy door.
Ducky and I could not agree more, Madison!! We love our fenced-in yard! Ducky’s recall isn’t the best, either, but that’s more my fault than hers. Besides, one of us is always in the yard with her because we just don’t trust the one neighbor.
Ducky also loves running around the yard – either playing “catch me if you can” with us or the squirrels or with her Kong Bounzer in her mouth (or both!). She also loves stretching out in the grass and rolling around in it. And I love watching her have fun.
Our recall is perfect when we are in the mood! Mom always has eyes on us too when we are out, but just because she always worries about us for no real reason.
you are very lucky to have your own backyard, we have a courtyard that we share with others, but we have a HUGE area to walk at our complex so that makes us pretty lucky too.
That sounds pretty decent. We walk all over the world it seems, but we love exploring.
yes indeed fences are a good thing!
For hounds like us and our mom’s peace of mind, they sure are.
There are times when I really miss my fenced in yard. It was fun while it lasted.
It seems like you do fine without a fence. We would never stay home if there wasn’t a fence. We don’t want to run away from home, but we would get busy and not even realize we had left.
We agree, having a big fenced backyard is awesome!!

It makes it easier for everyone.
We own a crazy but wonderful Rottweiler, Eskin. Unfortunately, our house didn’t come with a fence, but we have enough space in the back that he can run freely. Thankfully, the one mischievous thing Eskin doesn’t do is run away π
We wouldn’t want to run away, but we chase critters and if we start, we forget everything and we would be gone.
Ever since we first fenced in our yard at our old house, we knew we would never do it any other way. I don’t trust the invisible fences either, so we love having an actual fence. Luke can run in and out of the house as he wants to, to chase chipmunks and squirrels out of his yard!
We love running and playing in our backyard. We wish it wuz bigger though. Like y’all, we’re never allowed off-leash elsewhere.
You probably have a helicopter mom like we do. It’s nice to be so loved, but it does keep us on leash or behind a fence.
Backyard play is such fun! We love to run or just soak up the sun.
It is loads of fun, especially if you have a playmate or critters to chase.
What a great backyard you have.
We have a lot of fun in it.
