Yesterday I had a mommy and me time walk. Bailie and Madison have had some mommy and me outings recently, but I haven’t, so it was my turn. I was super excited as I love to go places, especially with my mom. I’m thankful for any one on one time I can get.
The weather was gorgeous, and Mom wanted to take me some place I had never been. Reluctantly, she decided we should go to Whitetail Woods. My sisters told me they go there about once a year, and it is always a disaster. Mom is a positive thinker, so she figures it will be better next time, and she gives it another chance.
Unfortunately, this year was the worst visit yet! A year ago Bailie and Madison went for a walk there and it was in a shambles. This year only about 1/3 of the park was even open. To top it off, the closed part it Mom’s favorite part. Everything was closed, and work crews had machinery and were working all over the place.
I was still excited for a mommy and me time walk no matter where we went. The trails that were open were all in the sun, and it was really hot out.
The trails were mowed, but I wanted to go off into the deeper grass on the sides. Mom said I shouldn’t because of ticks. I let Mom know loud and clear how I feel about her rules.
We did end up getting about five minutes in the shade of the woods. Boy did that feel good. The original plan was for an hour walk, but because the trails were all closed, and it was so hot, we only got in a half hour.
If you are like us, you are sick and tired of the whole pandemic thing, but there is no way to get away from it. It is on the TV, radio, internet, even Facebook put a tab on our page and they will not remove it despite the fact that we don’t want it on there. Going out in nature should be a perfect way to escape it all, but no! These stupid signs are all over the place. It really is a shame they can’t just let people be, I mean everyone knows way more than they want to about this virus. Oh well, I still enjoyed the walk with my mom.
Before we were back at the parking lot, we found this grassy area. I worked on sitting for a photo once again, but it is tough when it is so warm out! We don’t recommend Whitetail Woods at all, and Mom says she won’t be back, but chances are curiosity will win her over and she will take us back again some day. Our advice – check to make sure the park is open and in good shape before going.

Sure looks like you had a great walk. Lots of fun. Have a terrific Thursday.
It was a bit warm but I had fun.
I wonโt demand a repeat. You deserve another Mommy and me walk.
I’m sure I’ll get another chance at one on one time again soon.
Since they are working in hte park, maybe it will be better. Well Olivia you need another Mommy and me walk. I agree with you that we are inundated with info on the pandemic. Hope you all have a great weekend! How is your Grandma – will she get another kitty?
According to my sisters, this park is only a few years old, but has been torn apart for several years now. Weird. Kitty…hmmm…we will have to wait and see.
we had this on our furst day of freedom, working crews everywhere and still closed areas… what a fun to walk through lawn mowers hedge trimmers and tractors… but at least you had sun and you two enjoyed the time together…
We wanted shade because the sun is so warm, but it was still okay because I was with Mom.
If your mom never has been happy going there then I wouldn’t even think about going. Some parks just don’t have a good vibe.
We are with you on all the things being closed. We’re tired of it too.
Have a woof woof day. My best to your siblings and your wonderful mom. โฅ
We don’t know why she feels the need to go back as she has never once had a great time there.
Curiosity is a good thing. So is SHADE in hot weather! I’m glad you enjoyed your walk even if you didn’t like your mom’s rules.
The walk she wanted to take had lots of shade, but of course, that was closed.
It looks like your weather is warming up too fast! Hope you have another Mommy and Me walk soon
We are just not fans of heat. Cool weather makes for a lot more fun.
Your doggy smile says it all Olivia! Glad you enjoyed your special walk.
I’m such a mom’s girl, I love anything I can do with her.
Glad you enjoyed your walk with your mom.
I sure did, even though it was too warm.
I’m glad you had a good walk with your Mom, that looks like a nice park! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
It was a weird walk, and not what we planned, but it was still fun to be together.
Even if itโs not a good park for you, i am glad you had some one-on-one time.
As long as Mom is with me, I’m a happy camper.
We are so glad you got some Mommy and Me time….even if the trail wasn’t the best. Our state parks just opened their parking lots so we can finally get out and do some hikes this weekend!
xoxo,
Rosy, Jakey & Arty
Happy hiking. Thankfully, our parks never closed, but so many people are out, it is no fun.
It doesn’t matter where you go as long as you’re with your mom and having fun, Olivia.
That is 100% correct, but still Mom was not happy about the huge mess and closed trails.
Olivia, that is such a shame that your trip to the park didn’t work out so well. Perhaps you can some open trails in another park – ones with some shade – before too long.
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
Mom wanted me to go to a park I have never been to, but it was not a good plan. No worries, there are plenty of places for us to go and walk.
How nice to get out and walk.
It’s nice to go to new places.
I’m glad you and your mom had a nice walk anyway, Olivia๐๐ธPawkisses for a Happy Caturday. Stay Safe Healthy and Yourselfie๐๐พ๐ฝ๐
Just being together is fun for me.
We agree, we are SO tired of everything everywhere being about the pandemic!!
Mom says it is like crime, no one pays attention anymore because it is always happening. Now no one watches or listens to news anymore because it is all about the virus and we are over it.
We would love to have mommy and me time but if we are separated, we cry and fuss so we go as a duo everywhere except the groomer. Bentley is so upset when I leave. This stupid pandemic is no fun at all. I’m glad our state is getting back to normal even with face masks. LOL!
Mom always makes a point to do one on one things so we are used to being on our own, or with one sister or the other. We are over the virus thing, but Mom doesn’t wear a mask. Today she had to because we went to dog school, but she hated it.
