We’re back in the rat race again! Dog schools are opening up, and that means Mom can rent the barn hunt ring for us to practice. We did just that on Tuesday, and had so much fun! Barn hunt is a great sport for us scent hounds.
Olivia and I went, since we are the rat lovers. Our first runs were not so great, but then we remembered the game and really got into it. We had been away from the ring for almost three months, which is way too long.
Mom was very impressed with my love of the tubes this time. I wanted to get that rat tube, bite it, growl at it, try to get it away from Mom. This is something new for me.
Olivia had a beautiful head snap as she passed the hidden rat and then realized it. She circled around and alerted to Mom that a rat was there.
I love standing on my back feet, and it is fun to find a rat right in front of my nose. Hunting is very serious business.
Olivia is all business, but she is also funny while she is in her working state of mind. She knows there is a rat up above somewhere.
I was accused of being a lazy rat hunter with this shot. Sometimes lying on the straw, taking in all the scent is pleasant and relaxing!
Being back in the rat race works up a girl’s appetite. Looks like Olivia is thinking about some rat for dinner?
One last rat for the road. The hour time slot sure flew by fast. We had so much fun and can’t wait to compete again. We are hoping to be in a trial the end of June if it doesn’t get cancelled. After our long break, we are super thankful we get to practice once again!

that is a such a pleasure to see you at work!!! what a fantabulous breed!!! … rat-atouille tonight?
We wish. So far we have not managed to open a tube to get a rat out!
So happy you are able to get back you your favorite sport. Enjoy
It’s one of our favorites. We love all the ones we do.
Thatβs so awesome, your gonna have so much fun.
Paws crossed they don’t cancel the trials we are entered in. We are going out of state as MN is no fun and cancelling everything.
YES!We will all find normal now…..Except for out here it has been just too hot to do much of anything. We are looking forward to our nosework classes!
We get to start those next week, yay! Hopefully we can get into some trials this summer if they actually happen. Happy sniffin’!
Rats! You both are just awesome. You had fun. Me, fun for me is playing with my Puffin. XOXO, Sparkle
We love to play dog games too, but our sports are extra fun and we only get to do them sometimes, not when we want.
Rats! You both are just awesome. You had fun. Me, fun for me is playing with my Puffin. I did go out to the horse farm last weekend which is always full of wonderful smells. XOXO, Sparkle
You two sure were having a grand time and you sure are excellent ratters! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
We still think they should have barn hunt for cats too. You kitties would rock the sport!
Wonderful news. You’re doing what you love and we’re going to the boat this weekend. We’re both getting to do what we love.
Have a woof woof day. My best to your happy mom. β₯
We thought the same thing when we read your post this morning. Enjoy!
OH! OH! Rent a Rat!!! Lucky you! Sure looks like you are having bales of fun and great exercise!
Chablis
We got 4 rats because we rented an hour. It’s very practical as Mom doesn’t want to raise rats and keep straw bales here at home.
We’re so happy that you get to have fun hunting the rats again!
We hope sports are back in full swing really soon because we sure do miss that fun.
Go get those rats! Glad you’re able to get back to work pups, enjoy!
We sure are happy about it too!
It’s so awesome to see you girls back out doing what you love.
Have fun!
xoxo,
Rosy, Jakey & Arty
We hope we can get back to trials too. Mom really misses them.
Hah! How fun for you….your rat race is super fun!
Rat hunting is a great sport!
We’re so glad you girls got to finally get out and have some fun with your sports!
We do nose work at home and around the area, but classes are fun and they start next week. Hunting rats we can’t do on our own, so it’s great we can rent the ring again.
That looks like quite a bit of fun but too much work for a feline. The last time there was a mouse in our house we just sat and stared at the wall until the Human called the exterminator to get rid of it.
Purrs & Head Bonks,
Alberto
What? Our cat bro Bert is an amazing mouser. He loves to hunt them.
Such fun! Thatβs a good kind of rat face, for certain.
We think so too. Our job of finding those rats in tubes is loads of fun.
OMD!! How exciting!! I know those rats were thinking they were on Easy St. with everything closed down.
We sure hope the trials we have entered will actually happen next month. Trials are so fun and we all miss them.
Don’t let the rats win! π
Never! We are really good at finding them.
