Meet adorable little Splash, our Portuguese Water Dog pal! She is just 3 months old and came to meet us for some social time. Bailie isn’t a puppy fan, so only Olivia and I hung out with her. Bailie is friends with her big brother Hydro. They did tracking practice together a few years ago, and got their TD titles on the same day.
When we first came out into our yard, we thought maybe someone left a bear cub on our lawn. Isn’t Splash a cutie? We love her name too!
Olivia was very suspicious of her. She preferred to hang out with me and ignore Splash most of the time. There were a few times she did take the time to get up close and take some sniffs of her.
I like puppies. A few times I tried to play, but it was too hot and humid for much wild play.
Splash lives up to her name as she really enjoyed our pool! Neither of us would get into it, but Splash had a blast getting in and out, retrieving a toy.
The humans wanted a group photo. We were not sure how it would work as Splash is pretty young to sit nice, but she did a good job. I whispered to Olivia that the shoot would be a disaster.
Both of us were very curious about little Splash. What kind of dog is she, and is she visiting or moving in? Splash looks a bit perplexed herself.
Suddenly, Olivia and I got some ants in our furry pants and decided to wrestle a bit. Splash didn’t know what to make of our silly behavior.
In some ways, she was like an alien to us. We have never seen this breed as a puppy before.
We let her go and do what she wanted to do. The little one was not afraid of us at all. She is quite brave.
The three of us got fairly close a couple times, but as you can see, it is pretty hot in the sunshine.
We hope Splash comes back on a day when it is not quite so hot. It will be fun to watch a Portuguese Water Dog grow up. She will be doing sports like we do too, so we will see her at events down the road. Thanks for visiting, Splash! We are always thankful to make new friends.

The humans were sad we didn’t play chase, but it was just too warm. We still had fun sniffing together and hanging out. She has curly furs like doodles do.
