We have our scent work results from the weekend for you all today. The first day in Grand Forks was raining all day with random thunderstorms, and cold. The second day was perfect, warm, and sunny! We had a blast on our little road trip, and Olivia really cleaned up the place, keeping up the momentum she had prior to the pandemic.
No joke, the trial took place at the Fido PurPur Ice Arena. Who can make up a name like that for a dog trial? We loved the winking water tower looking over us the whole weekend.
Mom is not a believer in the whole pandemic thing, but she has to wear a mask sometimes at dog events, so she bought a dog one that would match her outfit. At our house, the motto is, “It is not always what you do but how you look doing it.” Luckily, she only had to wear it a few times on the weekend. We didn’t mind and are not afraid of her if she is wearing one.
Now for our scent work results. Olivia had 3 titles on the line over the weekend – her novice container and overall novice titles were both on Saturday. She rocked her Saturday searches passing her first two advanced interior searches which were in penalty boxes on the side of the ice rink, then she went on to pass, both in first place, her novice container searches. This gave her her overall novice title. Mom was super happy, and so was Olivia as you can see, they were celebrating a little bit. Me, I bombed out on all my searches Saturday.
Sunday was a new day! I had a chance at an excellent container title, and an excellent exterior title. My day was better as I passed three of my six searches and earned my excellent container title! Olivia continued on her streak of Q’s earning her advanced exterior title and Q’ing in five of her six searches. We had a chance to bring home five new titles, and brought home four, which still makes us all happy.
There was no good place to take photos at the trial site because it was super windy and our ribbons kept blowing away, so we decided to take our overall photos at home. This my excellent container title, my three Q’s, and the fourth place ribbon I earned in buried hides. My updated fancy name is now:Β Ethos Intel Inside TD NAP NJP SWA SIE SCE RATM CGC NW1 NW2 L1E L1C L1I
Olivia had the biggest pile of ribbons with 9 of 10 Q’s, including two first place ribbons, two element titles, and her overall novice title. Mom is very proud of what she can do at her age! Olivia really loves to work, and she loves how happy Mom is when she is successful. Olivia’s new, updated fancy name is now:Β Ethos Loving The Northland CGC SWN SEA RATO ORT
**A side note, each overall title in scent work is made up of four element titles, buried, interior, exterior, and container. Once you have the overall title, AKC drops the element titles and the four are replaced with the one overall title, so our names get longer and shorter as we keep competiting.
My GBGV Life is happy, so weβre joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
DiD you leave any ribbons for the other people?
Oh yes. Now that Olivia is not in novice, she isn’t getting as many placement ribbons, but maybe next time.
Well done! Congrats on a great weekend.
Thank you.
What a wonderful weekend you had. Olivia did an outstanding job too. Excellent. You had fun out and we took our first cruise since this virus shut things down. We had a great time too.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to the pups and a hug to the mom. β₯
So glad you are back cruising. You really realize what you love when it is taken away for a while!
That was some fantastic weekend! Big congrats to both of you!!!
Thank you.
Wow Congratulations to both of you!
Thank you. We sniffed our little noses off.
Congratulations to both of you! Look at all of those beautiful ribbons!
We need some title certificates so we can hang them on the wall with the others, but it takes a few weeks before they arrive.
OH MY DOG! Olivia, you did fantastic and so many ribbons. Madison, you did okay but your name is getting sooooooooo l-o-n-g. You both had a successful weekend under the winking water tower. XOXO, Sparkle
Once I finish excellent buried and exteriors, my name will shorten for a while again. Olivia did amazing…again!
Congratulations girls!
Thank you.
WOW! Congratulations Girls!!! That’s awesome!! ππππππ
Thank you. We had a lot of fun and successes.
you had such a super weekend and we jump with joy for so much ribbons you won!!! congrats to the best noses of slice earth!!!
Thank you boys! A girl can never have too many ribbons.
You girls rock the Scent world. I REALLY appreciate your mom explaining how scent titling works so that your name changes. Now it all makes “scents.”
It is kind of weird because some of the most titled dogs have the shorter names.
Congratulations! Your ribbons are beautiful too. I love your Mom’s mask. We hate wearing them too but it is sometimes necessary in stores, etc.
Mom hasn’t gone to any stores requiring a mask yet. They are no fun to wear, so she bought ones that at least look fun.
Wahoo!!! Go Olivia and Madison!!!
That sounds like a very successful weekend! Great job, girls!
We love your Mom’s mask! If we must wear them at times, we should at least be stylish, I say, so good job, Mom. π
Thankfully she rarely had to have it on, but this weekend she will have to wear it a lot.
THANK YOU! Luv all the pics and thanks for sharing! God bless……..
Thank you.
Nice ribbon collection! Well done everyone.
Mom says she hopes my certificate comes soon because I have so many ribbons from Novice she can hardly get the drawer closed. We hang the certificates with the ribbons.
Excellent job! Sometimes it takes a bit of time to get back into the swing of things, and sometimes it doesn’t, but that’s okay, you both rock!
Olivia is doing really well. I’m having communication issues but I have had them on and off forever. Sometimes I get better, then I forget again.
