Is your dog carrying proper ID? July is National Lost Pet Prevention Month. We don’t want any pets to get lost and not find their home again. Reminders are good, because humans get busy and sometimes forget the simple stuff that could really help us pets out.
Fur doesn’t have pockets, and when is the last time your dog took her handbag along on a walk? The only thing most of us pups wear are collars or harnesses, so that is where the ID should be attached. Why stop with just an ID tag. What happens if you are naked when you go missing, heaven forbid? The microchip is a great back up ID for dogs.
I have my driver’s license, but it usually stays in the car because I have no way to carry it. Remember to keep your dogs information current, just like you keep yours current on your license. If you move, change your information on your pup’s tags and on their microchip service. How sad would it be if your pup was found, but the information was wrong?
Check your pet’s tags every day when you put their collar on to make sure the information is still readable, and correct, and that the tags are secure on the collar. We’ve all lost tags before, or had the information worn off. We love our Silver Paw Pet Tags because the engraving never wears off! Make sure your microchip is checked by your vet every time you go to the clinic too. Is your dog carrying proper ID? We sure hope so! We are thankful Mom does her best to keep us ID’d just in case we ever get separated.
My GBGV Life is joining Brianβs Home Blog in the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
we both have a chip, it is law here to chip dogs&cats….. or the guillotine is waiting for you LOL
Yes, Emma had one from England and one from the USA. They should be mandatory.
I wear my driver’s license on my harness every single day that we walk and my tag is always on my collar and I am chipped! You can never be too safe.
You can never have too much ID!
Great advice
Thank you.
Great advice. I am glad I have a microchip as I go commando in the house now as does Puffin. She loved to pull on my collars (as well as my ears, furs, and tail!) She tightened my collars (ouch) and managed to get them off of me – somehow she managed to unclip them, and then she chewed and ruined the clip on my Up Country patriotic collar! A purse would be tug of war. She is a pest, but I love her. XOXO, Sparkle
I heard that Emma ripped the tags off Katie’s collar years ago and they were never found. Some pups are just nuts, right π
We are all chipped – great advice on all those ID’s. None of us wants to get separated from our Mom!!! (Not even Clarence the cat)
No way! We all need and love our mom. Good for you guys.
You just can’t be too careful and a proper ID is part of that and yes, please do keep it current. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I bet you kitties are chipped too.
We did all this with our Little Bit. We wanted to make sure if she got away someone would know where she lived. It’s the responsible thing to do.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches to all the pups. β₯
It sure is. Mom lost a cat once and never found him. He had a tattoo, but it was worthless.
Good info! I love the ‘have your people call my people’, too fun!
We each have that tag in our own color. It is fun.
Along with those things, I also like a collar that embroiders Luke’s name and our phone number right on it. Just as something extra should the ID tag fall off and I didn’t notice.
We have those for nose work, but Mom likes the collars we usually wear better than the ones with our names in the collar itself. Hopefully we will never be lost or without our ID.
Great idea! I need to get a spare, Chablis just lost his
Oh dear. Chablis, where did you leave it?
Great advice to always check the writing on the tags.
Most tags wear off easily. We love ours because they are still like new after years.
Thanks for the important reminder Bailie. With the exception of Sunny, we are all chipped, and all of us(including Sunny) are tagged!! Sunny will get her chip when she gets her final puppy shops next month :-).
Olivia got chipped pretty young with us too. We all need to stay safe, right?
Coda is chipped and has her tag. Our cat shelter chips every cat as it is adopted out, chips are great for if the cat gets out of the house and lost, too.
Our kitties were chipped when we adopted them too.
We have all kinds of ids including the chip. Of course, we are forbidden to EVER run away so…BOL! *I apologize for having to play catch-up on visiting. I’ve been keeping the grandbabies four days a week and if I sit still after playing all day, I go to sleep. Hahahah!
No worries. Glad you have the grandkids, so many people don’t even allow family members to see each other these days. We are so over this virus thing!
Pawsitive advice! P.S. Love your driver’s license. So cute.
Thank you. I don’t drive much, but it is nice to have just in case.
