The Cannon River in Faribault is a real pretty place to take a nice walk. Our nose work trials were close to the river so we went out for a short walk during the lunch break. It was very hot and humid, but the walking trail was about fifty percent shade.
We are right in an industrial area, but the river is still a really pretty spot for a walk. Down the path a ways, we found a little dam. Mom was going to have us pose on the bridge over the dam, but she worried we might fall in, so we stayed on the side.
As we looked across the Cannon River, we saw the Faribault Woolen Mill which has been around since the 1800’s. At one point in time they produced about half of the wool blankets in the entire USA.
When Mom was a little girl, the family would sometimes take a Sunday trip to Faribault and always stopped to shop at the mill store. We didn’t stop as with the heat, a wool blanket was not real appealing, but Mom was happy to see it is still there.
Now I will leave you with my best happy, tongue out Tuesday shot from our little walk!
My GBGV Life is happy, so weβre joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
oh what great place.. and even with so much memories… and it is still there… that’s liek a little gift when things are the same as the ones in our memory ;O)
Mom has great memories of Faribault, but never goes there anymore.
Definitely you get the longest tongue awards.
I’m afraid I may trip over mine one day!
You girls sure do have SuperLong tongues!
You know it is hot when even Olivia’s tongue dangles from the side of her mouth!
It’s good the mom takes you on so many wonderful adventures. We did the same with our Little Bit. She so enjoyed exploring new places.
It is good when something you remember from your childhood is still in business. That made me smile.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
Unfortunately, the restaurant they always ate at was demolished a few years ago, but the woolen mill makes her happy.
Great place for a walk…probably tooooooo hot for more than your beautiful pictures/
Way too hot for more than what we did, and Olivia still had her trial in the afternoon, so we couldn’t get her too worn out.
It must be a very hot day judging from the tongues! Cheers!
A heat index of around 100, steamy and awful.
WOW! Your tongues are really l-o-n-g! You have some beautiful, scenic places in Minnesnowta. I guess most states are beautiful, but you find really great places along with the stories of the area. XOXO, Sparkle
Every place seems to have something worth seeing. You just have to figure out what it is and how to find it π
It looks like y’all had a lovely Sunday in a pretty place. I like shaded paths to walk in the middle of the summer to protect you from the heat while active. There’s an old logging road in the Smoky’s we’d walk on Sunday afternoons with the kids when they were small. It was a great place to spend a few hours walking in God’s beautiful nature. The walk stretched along a river. It always amazed me how loud the rushing water was in the woods. We didn’t see much wildlife but one time I remember a huge Timber Rattler stretched itself across the road. We didn’t approach it but turned around going back the way we came for several minutes to give that thing a chance to slither off into the brush. I sure wouldn’t want to make it mad. π It won’t be long before your heavy doggie fur will be the purrfect attire for the cold and snow weather….but your mom might need one of those wool blankets you spoke of. π Have a terrific Tuesday!
Oh, a snake of any kind would ruin our walk as Mom is terrified of them. She can’t even look at photos of them. Glad you all didn’t get attacked or anything. Being out in nature is our favorite place to be.
Those tongues are so long you could use them for paddles is you fell in the river!
LOL, that would be funny!
What a wonderful hike and such a pretty place…Mama sure is missing our road trips, but there are rumors of us heading out in a couple of weeks for a camping trip!
Love those tongues!
We are happy we are back on road trips and we have several more coming up. They are fun. You don’t have to go anywhere fancy, just go somewhere and find the beauty in that place.
Looks like a hot, but fun time.
It was in the 90’s with full humidity, but we still had fun, and Mom was careful to only take short walks and give us lots of water.
Looks like a fun walk!
We always love to go to new places, even if it is super hot.
That looks like an interesting place but quite hot! It feels like autumn here today, I wonder if you are now getting cooler weather too?
We are cooling down starting tomorrow, thankfully, as we have a trial again this weekend…well pretty much every weekend I think until sometime in November.
Very pretty place.
What a fun day! We have heat advisories most afternoons so we stay inside.
We still go out, but with lots of care being taken.
