What battle of the coveted window seat are you talking about? Mom always gets tired of me and Olivia battling with cat bro Bert overΒ who gets to sit in the dog bed on the window bench. Didn’t I say DOG bed? That means the dog, right?
Bert loves to have his afternoon nap in a comfy, sunny spot which is unfortunately our dog bed. He really takes in the heat and stretches out long in OUR bed.
If we are in our bed and he wants our spot, he will sit on the floor and pester us until we finally get sick of him and leave. I tried hard to hold my own, but a girl can only battle a cat for so long. Eventually, I gave up and let him have the coveted window seat.
In an ideal world without a pesty cat brother this is how the window seat area would look. A dog in the DOG bed, and another dog also looking out the window, watching the neighborhood. Cats just make a dog’s life difficult.
Unfortunately, we live with Bert who considers himself not only to be a dog, but our boss. He gets all settled in and thinks we will just leave him alone, but that doesn’t happen.
Olivia and Bert battle it out constantly. She has no problem sitting on him, resting on him, irritating him, whatever it takes to get him to leave. She has even learned to push the bed off the bench with one of her jumbo paws. When that happens, Bert lands on the floor and is mad as a hornet!
Sometimes, he will put his head into the side of the bed, we think to pretend we are not around. He is trying to get some alone time.
Olivia spends a lot of time arguing and fighting with Bert. Neither of them ever give in, so Mom usually breaks it up. I guess it would be boring if we didn’t have Bert around, but it would also be more peaceful.
We are joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop held by Comedy Plus.
Oh my goodness what a pest!!! My brother Dash loved to make friends with cats! Truly. Our old neighbors had cats and Dash would talk to them over the fence, would lie with them when they would come over to our yard. He was crazy! I never made friends and would tell them to go home! I agree with you and Olivia. What a pest that Bert is!!! great post, we loved it! have a great weekend. your friend Lilly
We all find Bert to be a real pest, but we do hang out together, his choice. He is fun to chase around the house, but we get in trouble for that. Mom says she isn’t sure she will get another cat because they are a lot of trouble. We will see what happens down the road but for now, we have daily stand offs with Bert. Have a fun weekend. We will be hunting rats most of the weekend.
Aww! their photos are soooo cute heheh1
Have a safetastic lazyweekend π·π·π·
That darn cat!
Itβs a love hate relationship but mostly the later.
He gets mad at us and we are so frustrated with him!
My gang fights for the patio door spot. Enjoy your view gang.
Every multi species home must have disagreements.
Brothers and sisters always fight, so it goes without saying even furblings of opposite sex and specie will do the same. It’s a good thing Olivia keeps Bert on his toes. I always felt sorry for our son who was not only the youngest but had two older sisters to put up with. Poor fella took his share of unfair treatment. Those girls could be merciless sometimes. He is a good brother to take it most of the time, too. Here’s to y’all living in harmony and finding away to enjoy that comfy window bed. Great spot for lounging lazily. Have a furtastic weekend! π
We are always jockeying for the coveted spot. At least in the sunshine we get too hot, so the cat can have the bed then for a while.
We all know if the cat is in the bed it’s a cat bed and they won’t move until they are ready. It’s the way of cats.
Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.
Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Scritches to the pups and Bert. My best to your mom. β₯
Cats want to take over the world, but we are not going to let them!
My girls – when Callie and Shadow were still with us – used to vie for the corner of the couch closest to my chair. Ducky used to bark at my brother when he was visiting because he sat in “her” spot. Now I no longer let her on the furniture because jumping down is too hard on her hips.
Poor Ducky. We feel so bad for her and those hips. It is just not fair.
Maybe you just need another bed….or maybe a cat sling? Our cat just stays in the spare bedroom because he doesn’t want anything to do with us dogs.
Sophie keeps to herself, but Bert insists on being in the midst of it all. Believe me we have at least a dozen places just for cats around the house and some in windows, but he wants our place.
I think I am thankful we don’t have a cat! Bert does have his rights as he has been there the longest, but I am still thankful we don’t have a cat. I share my bench with little Puffin. We do not have a dog bed on our bench, but it has a comfy cushion. Have a great weekend! XOXO, Sparkle
Cats can really be a pain in the furs, that is for sure. You are lucky you don’t have to share with one.
You need on of those take a number things so you can each have a turn when your number is called!
LOL! Now that would be an idea.
we love your cat brother!!! send him to us, please ;O)
Let me see if I can find a box and if we have enough stamps. He would love you boys and being gray/silver, he would match with your furs.
Madison, tell your mom to get a MUCH longer bench, so ALL of you can sleep on it. and even guest people can sit on it when they come. Elbe broke one of our front picture windows in January, and HOPEFULLY our new windows are coming in later this month. they will have a storage banquet built along the entire length – something like 114 or 124 inches long under them. we have a weird vent that will need to be rerouted inside the banquet, but where your vent is an even easier job to re-rout. Maybe if you ask now, you could get it for Christmas??? then all 4 of you could be on it and you would just have to jostle for who gets the most sun.
Chablis
Hmmm, broke a window, now that is bad! We have scratched up the wood when we see squirrels and bunnies, but nothing more than that. If we had a new house, Mom would make a nice window place for us all to be on.
Haha, apparently Olivia hasn’t yet learned that you mostly can’t win an argument with a cat! Bert seems like an especially stubborn one too! He looks so cute and cozy in that bed though!
Maybe Mom needs to add another bench and bed to the front of that window! π
Bert will never give in to a dog. He tells us that all the time.
Oh you all make me laugh, too funny! Never a dull moment at your house!
Around here, there is something going on all the time.
Poor Bert but it is YOUR bed. That is just the perfect spot for your bed too!
Madison and I love to lay in it and watch the comings and goings of our neighborhood. It is the best spot in the house.
Cute photos and the last if the funniest! Cheers!
Thank you, like to keep everyone smiling.
It looks like Bert has other ideas whose bed it is!
He believes everything including the house is his.
Donβt you have room for two beds up there, a small one for the cat and a big one for the dog? Trust me, they can learn to share.
We have had two, but one always falls off, so we stick with just one and fight over it on a daily basis.
Bert sounds just like a sassy older brother. I think pushing him off the bench is hilarious. Be careful though, he does still have claws.
Mom says I’m clever in how I figured out how to push him onto the floor, but she also says I should not do that to him. Booo!
Cats usually always win ! Rosie is lucky she has all napping places in the house for herself ! She is an only “child” her four siblings died after 20 years, this year and the year before !
Wow, 20 years is a long time. We think our cat bro Bert is around 14, we know he is at least 13 because of when Mom first got him at the shelter.
