Moose Lake State Park sure makes me smile! Yesterday was a special day for just me and Mom to take a one day road trip. She signed me up for a private nose work lesson in Moose Lake. It is a two hour drive from home, so we left early and stopped for a walk at Moose Lake. We were there almost five years ago now and know it is a nice place for walking.
It was an absolutely perfect weather day – cool, and sunny. We were super shocked to see leaves turning color already as we got north of the cities. It seems a bit early, but we are lucky to see some pretty fall trees. Moose Lake State Park has trails around a couple lakes, so we were optimistic about seeing some nice fall color.
Mom is directionally challenged, so we had to be careful about where we chose to walk. Being late for my lesson was not an option! To be safe, we took a photo of the map and headed off. After about fifteen minutes, Mom realized we had gone in exactly the opposite direction of where she had planned to go! Oh brother! Mom wanted to head north to wildlife pond, but we were actually south at Echo Lake.
Thank dog for trail signs now and then. I could sniff my way back to the car, but Mom wouldn’t trust me, so she has to try to know where we are at.
Sure enough, at the first clearing we saw some color across the lake. They are kind of funny with some yellow, and a couple bright red trees scattered about.
Here I was down by the beach. I didn’t want to get all sandy since we had to go to my lesson, so I didn’t get to go on the actual beach.
This dead tree in the water we thought made an interesting addition to some more fall leaves across the lake.
Being Purple Girl, I was happy to see lots of these cute, little lavender flowers along the trail. The trail we chose to take went right along the lake shore and was very pretty. We didn’t even run into more than a couple people which was nice too.
This is our favorite shot of the fall leaves. There is something about the colored leaves across a still body of water that seems so pretty and calming.
It’s time to get back on the trail so I can make it to my lesson on time. We spent about an hour walking, but we could come back and spend all day walking. If you are wondering, we were on time for my lesson and it was really good. Mom got a lot of great nose work tips to get me back on the nose work road again, as well as some tips for my sisters too. All in all, it sure was a fun day…except for the car part since I don’t like riding in the car!

oh the colors!!! bob ross was there right?
We didn’t see Bob, but we saw some men and don’t know their names.
Moose Lake Star Park looks like a brilliant place to explore, and those red autumn colours are splendid. But you omitted the most important piece of information. Did you meet any moose?
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
Well, no real moose.
That looks like an amazing place for a walk about and I’m glad your lesson was good!
It was a perfect day all around.
Looks beautiful and peaceful
It is really peaceful, we love that.
Oh my dog, fall is so pretty, at least that is what my mom tells me about fall. She says that in a couple of weeks it will be really gorgeous just like you, Bailie. Glad you had a good day trip (except for the car!) Have a wonderful weekend. XOXO, Sparkle
Fall is really pretty especially up north for some reason.
I can see why it makes you smile. What a beautiful place. I would love to go for a walk with you. I’d let you go wherever you wanted.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your siblings and your mom. β₯
I would like that. Mom usually decides where we walk, but I would love to decide.
Looks so very peaceful and lovely for a day out.
The weather was absolutely perfect, cool and sunny.
Oh Wow! It’s gorgeous! Glad your nose work lesson went so well! I’m just sorry you don’t like car rides! Ducky loves them. Have a great weekend and give your Mom and siblings our love.
It is truly a beautiful spot and real quiet right now. I’m the only dog Mom has ever had that doesn’t like the car, but she says sometimes I just have to deal with it.
Moose Lake is just beautiful and you found lots of pretty things, Bailie! We can’t wait to see colorful autumn leaves on our walk!
We were kind of shocked to see so many on the drive so early in the year.
We love seeing your adorable smiley Bailie! What a fun and pretty place to walk…and the leaves are starting to look very festive!
It’s fall y’all, right π
Oh my goodness what a beautiful Nature Friday post…and with such a gorgeous hostess too.
Our dogwood leaves are just starting to have a hint of fall color in them.
Brrr monday morning the weather geeks are predicting temps in the 40’s in Dixie
Hugs Cecilia
We had some frost this morning and are just loving it. Cold is our thing around here π
We love your smile, Bailie! That looked like a very nice walk, and the colors were pretty on the water. Glad your lesson went well too!
My lesson was really important. Mom says she learned more in that lesson than she has all year when it comes to nose work. Very good lesson.
That was a beautiful place, i hope you get to go again. Also, i hope the nose work tips and lessons give you back your spark!
We got lots of information, now we have to start rebuilding our team and it will take time, but we can do it with some help.
It does seem early to see the colored leaves! Moose Lake looks like the kind of place Cinnamon would LOVE to goes for a hike!
Wes hopes yous has a super day!

We saw lots of color on our drive through Wisconsin today too. Trees are turning early everywhere it seems.
Wow! It is really beautiful there. I can’t believe you already have such gorgeous fall colors. We don’t change colors down here until November. LOL!
We saw lots more color driving through Wisconsin on the weekend. The leaves are changing early this year.
