Have you wondered if your dog should sleep in bed with you? It seems to be rather controversial, but we have ten great reasons for dogs in bed. At our house we love being in the big bed at night with our mom but her previous dogs were not bed dogs. She is super happy having us all there with her at night and feels bad her other dogs didn’t get that opportunity. Let’s take a look at why dogs in bed is a good thing.
10 reasons why your dog should sleep in bed with you
- Our favorite reason is cuddle time We get to spend the entire night cuddling and snuggling with our human.
- We keep the bed warm, and sometimes warm up Mom’s spot before she comes to bed. It’s great in the winter.
- Dogs love to be with their people, even when they are sleeping.
- It builds a stronger bond between dog and human.
- Humans tend to feel safer having their dog with them while they sleep.
- Sleeping with your dog in your bed helps reduce insomnia.
- Overall sleep quality is increased.
- Blood pressure is often lowered when a dog is in the presence of the human.
- There is less depression in humans who spend more time with their dog, including sleeping.
- Stress levels are decreased whenever humans are in contact with their dog.
Now we thought we would talk about what we love about sleeping in bed with mom. What do I like? I sleep at the foot of the bed. My favorite thing is being the one who hops out of bed with Mom every morning to get some extra loving before my lazy sisters actually get up.
Madison sleeps curled up in a ball on one side of Mom’s pillow. Her favorite thing about being in bed is when Mom first wakes up because she gets a nice belly rub.
Olivia is the crazy one. She sleeps with her behind up by the pillows and lays right up tight to Mom. Almost every night she kicks Mom in the face with one of her big back paws while she is dreaming. She also tends to snore like an old man! Mom says she doesn’t mind, any of that nonsense.
Mom loves having us all in bed, despite it being a bit crowded, and we also love all being together. What do you think, does your dog sleep in bed with you?
My GBGV Life is happy, so weβre joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
our mama said she can not sleep without us… and every ned needs a dog… well maybe not really da Neilson who sleeps wrapped around her neck like da snake of lord voldemort
Gramma says as a kid Mom slept with a whole pile of stuffed animals. Now she does the same with real animals.
I don’t sleep with mom. She has tried putting me in bed with her and I jumped out. I prefer my own beds.
Mom’s previous dogs were not bed dogs. We all slept in bed with her since the day she brought us home, so we learned how nice it is to be cozy. Every dog is different and some prefer their own space.
It is the best to sleep with puppies.
The three of us slept in mom’s arms in bed since the day she brought us home. We all love it.
OH MY GOODNESS! We completely agree!! You should see my brother at night. Mom says, “time for bed!” He runs to the toy box, selects a particularly good stuffie, and runs upstairs. Hops on the bed and curls up on one of the pillows with the stuffe snuggled next to him!! EVERY NIGHT! And then he sleeps right next to mom. I have to get help getting up on the bed and I sleep at the foot of the bed, usually with my head on her feet. Some nights I get a little warm so I will jump down and finish the night on the floor next to mom. The whole thing makes mom smile every night! But sometimes she has to shove my little brother because he can plop down RIGHT in the middle and leave just a little room for mom. We are glad you wrote this post — YES! dogs in bed! we agree. have a great day, your friend Lilly
It is the best isn’t it? Olivia is so very long, she stretches out to the entire width of the bed and Mom has to move her aside so she has space to put her feet. Then Olivia takes her spot on Mom’s side. No idea why she has to do the same routine every night, but she does. Glad you guys also love sleeping by your mom.
Those are darn good reasons and #1 is #1 for a very good reason!
Cat bro Bert also sleeps on a corner of the bed with us all night long. Sophie comes by when we first go to bed, but then she leaves.
We totally agree with all of these reasons. And if one of us gets too warm in the bed we have beds and pillows right next to the bed.
Oh, yes I do! Sometimes I curl up an sometimes I stretch out, but I am always to the right side of my mommy. Puffin squeezes between me and mom, but sometimes she dives under the covers and sleeps anywhere on the bed. When my mommy wakes up I greet her with kisses; sometimes crawling on top of her to give her my morning kisses! Puffin waits for me to finish kissing then (and only then) it is her turn. I am the senior member of the clan. Finally, I have been known to kick Mom in my dreams or if I am having a happy dream my tail wags and hits her! We love ALL the reasons for dogs to sleep with their humans! XOXO, Sparkle
Mom just has to say Madison go on your spot and I’m right in my place for the night. Olivia takes her time stretching out and then eventually gets to her position on the other side of Mom. We have slept in bed with Mom since the day she brought us home, so we can’t imagine sleeping anywhere else. Sleep well!
Alex is an 18 pound bed hog!! AND I love it! Where ever I sit, he has to snuggle with me. He’s my shadow.
That is so sweet! Mom just loves having us close as much as she can.
Our Angel Little Bit slept with us. We loved having her sleep with us. So precious. Love all the good things dogs do for us humans.
You are all so precious.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. My best to your mom. β₯
We are good for each other I think. Dogs and humans are a perfect match!
I think my #1 reason would be cuz they are just so incredibly cute!
Well, we won’t argue with that, LOL!
We wouldn’t have it any other way! It’s funny to us when sometimes Luke will go to bed before we do. I think maybe he just wants to get it warmed up for us! π
We do too when we are tired and we usually warm up Mom’s spot. In the morning when she gets up, we move over on her spot too.
Cute snoozers- we only have one cat but she keeps me warm all night by sleeping on top of me! and she does not snore! Cheers!
Cat bro Bert sleeps in bed too. Mom doesn’t like it when he sleeps on her because it wakes her up when she wants to move, so then he goes off to the end of the bed.
Coda does sleep with Little Girl. In our house, the cats are in bed with us, and it is Hope who used to snore.
We are worried about Olivia’s snoring getting even louder as she ages, but we still want her in bed with us. It is nice and cozy! Our cat bro Bert is also in bed all night, Sophie just visits for a short time before we fall asleep.
Sunny and Jakey love sleeping upstairs with Mama and Daddy, but for now, Rosy and Arty sleep downstairs.Hopefully one day every pup will be able to sleep in the big bed again!
We totally get that. Hope everyone can be back in bed soon and there is space for your parents too.
Yup, we totally agree with you. Now if only one of the dogs wasn’t the consummate bed hog! π€£
Olivia is a hog until Mom goes to sleep, then she gets in her spot and is good.
All of our dogs have slept with us except for Bentley. I have always been scared heβd hurt his back. He doesnβt like to snuggle either. Heβs very hot natured. Pierre sleeps next to me like a layer of skin. Hahah!
We are all such serious snugglers, bed it the best place to be. When we are little Mom helps us in and out of bed. Once we are a year old, we are allowed to do it ourselves.
