National Hugging Day is January 21st. We are a family of huggers, especially Bailie, Olivia, and Mom. Olivia loves to hug people and other dogs whenever she has a chance.
Bailie is Mom’s first hugging dog. She has the nickname huggle hound because of her hug/snuggle combination. She took this selfie with Mom for the special day today. Bailie wraps her paws around Mom’s neck and if she isn’t ready to stop the hug when Mom wants to stop, she squeezes tighter.
I’m not much of a hugger, most likely because I am short. Being hugged is great, but I don’t initiate hugs on my own. Mom loves to hug and cuddle me. I’m really good at standing on my back feet so she can give me a real good squeeze.
Olivia is the most huggly, snuggly creature roaming the planet! We can’t even count how many hugs she gives to Mom in a day. Being tall it makes it much easier for her to hug, but she also loves doing her leap (video below). Once Mom catches her, she hugs Mom and gives her kisses all over her face and ears. The two of them are kind of weird but their ritual makes them both happy.
Happy National Hugging Day! Make sure and give your pets and humans you love some extra squeezes today! Good hugs are something to be thankful for.

Sometimes that happens when Olivia leaps without the command, but they both still like the idea of it all.
Ha!! We are both huggie dogs! I am the best though — ever since I was a puppy. Now mom worries about my back legs so she doesn’t let me stand up too much but when I can get a hug in — I do! Olivia is really into leaping and then smothering Mom with hugs and messy kisses. Bailie sits and then puts her front legs around Mom for her hugs, she doesn’t stand to do it. Maybe you could try that? Happy hugging today!
Clover is a kissy dog. She could kiss you 24 hours a day.
Sounds a lot like Olivia. Mom has to keep hiding her face from the little monster.

I am a huggle hound too! Wow, I just love the leap and hug, now that is amazing. My mommy’s back has been awful the whole time I have owned her so our approach is much different. In bed, first thing in the morning I start by giving kisses ang gently slide on top of her continuing kissing and adding hugs.i could do this forever. Now I must be so very gentle. When Mom is I’m her recliner I gently jump into her lap. Then I flatten .my long body and pull myself up so I have my paws on her shoulders. Then comes the hugs and kisses. I’m ready to do that right now but she has her stupid phone in her hands! XOXO, Sparkle
Olivia loves her leap and Mom thinks it is fun too, but Olivia is heavy! She also gets Mom when she is working at her desk using your technique. I just wait for Mom to come and cuddle me. We all have what works best for us, right? Be super careful with your mom!

We LOVE the hugging! Doggy hugs are the best! Cinnamon hugs, but only lying down. As I was not feeling well, yesterday I got loads of hugs (and kitty kisses and doggy kisses). We just loved seeing you get hugged in the video! Have a marvellously Happy Day!

That is so sweet! Luke loves to tuck his head into our necks, and he loves to get kisses. He does hugs once in a while too, but I don’t think they are his favorite.

Pierre is a snuggler and Bentley gives serious hugs. Nothing feels better than a good hug in the morning to start our day.
