We have triple thanks this Thankful Thursday. At our house, we enjoy the Arctic blast we get every year, but this year has been a bit too long. Right now it is the most time the Twin Cities has spent at or below zero in the month of February since 1936. Walks are limited to 30 mins for us and we have to wear shoes. As of Tuesday, we are thankful to be above zero again, and back to walking an hour or more in the morning. Even at single digits below zero, we feel warm. Yesterday it snowed all day, so we are in the snow business again too!
This week we completely switched to a complete raw diet and I must say we are totally loving it. Mom was a bit afraid it might be disgusting looking or messy, but it is not. We love the ground meat, organs, and bones. Looking at it, Mom says it looks just like human ground beef. No, she has not tried it and says it is all for us!
The dog-sports-aholics are getting back into action! We all have different trials going on four of the next six weekends right now, with hopefully more in the coming months. It’s been over three months since our last competitions and we miss them! Olivia and I are kicking it all off with a scent work trial this weekend. Our nose work bag is packed and ready to go. The best thing is we will all have chances to compete on at least two weekends, we will also have chances to have a blast, and maybe bring home some more titles and pretty ribbons.
Finishing off the topic of our triple thanks with dog sports, we are shocked to see the 2020 AKC title results from the GBGVCA. In all there are thirty three new titles listed for the year, and our family proudly earned fourteen of them! Olivia has ten, and I have four. Bailie only earned non-AKC titles in 2020. That is pretty darn cool, and it doesn’t even include our nose work titles since they are not AKC. We hope 2021 will be a pawsome sports year with tons of fun, travel, titles, and bling!
My GBGV Life is joining Brianβs Home Blog in the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Those are really nice thankfuls and your sporting accomplishments are amazing! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
We love doing our sports, it is always a lot of fun.
Brrrrrrrr – your lips look cold, Olivia. Thank goodness that your temps are climbing higher now! I’ve never eaten RAW before but it sure does look yummy to me! Good luck with the titles and ribbons this weekend, girls!
We are enjoying like +11 today, feels like we need to shave our furs, LOL!
Well, look at you girls making the big leagues with your championships!! Holy dog — we are super impressed. Mom said there are other Ethos names on the list and wanted me to ask if those are cousins? We are getting dumped with snow. My brother is so happy! I am pleased too, but my brother just loooves the snow. Mom says he dances when he first sees it in the backyard! Have a great day! your friend Lilly
We only got a dusting and it will start to melt in a few days, but we do love snow too. Ethos is the kennel name, so may or may not be related. Happy Thursday!
oooh that is great 14!!!! congrats congrats congrats!!!
We are happy, and it was a shortened season too!
WOW, WOW. and WOW! FOURTEEN really got my attention, and you earned 10 of them! PAWSOME. Do good this weekend. Gotta go, celebrating my mom’s birthday today XOXO Sparkle
A pawsome happy birthday to your mom! Celebrate large with her today!
We know it was really cold there if your family even got tired of it! π Congratulations on all your titles, and good luck with all your new upcoming trials!
A week is plenty, but we all, including mom, crave longer walks and it was just too cold. Now we are headed back to too warm in a few days. Crazy weather, but better for our scent work trial.
You’ve been hit with some major cold. Mom is smart to limit your time outside.
I hear the raw diet is the rage right now. It’s most natural I would think.
I so enjoy going on your sports events. I know your mom is most proud of yo.
Have a woof woof Thankful Thursday. My best to your siblings and that includes the kitty. β₯
Raw is what we would eat if we had to hunt down our own food. Mom has wanted us to have it for years now, but she didn’t want to be grinding all that stuff. Now that we found it already ground, we are thrilled. Sports will be fun, can’t wait to see how our weekend goes.
I’m glad you transitioned to raw so easily, good for you! Looking forward to seeing more of your sports trials, good luck girls.
It started by eating better and better kibble, then Dr Harveys with raw meat in it, and now the full raw. It is so yummy! Maybe will be better at sports too, who knows!
Cute photos! and your Mom is such a good Mom getting you that delicious food! Enjoy!
She is really pleased we can finally have a raw diet. If she had to grind it all herself, it would have never happened.
What exciting news! You get to go back out and compete. I bet you guys love it and can’t wait. how thrilling that you won all those competitions. We cant wait to see your accomplishments this year. We so love seeing our friends winning. You guys are AWESOME!
We too are getting some warms (finally), though it is still way colder than normal. Longer walks are better! Have a marvellously Happy Day!
Two days now of our usual hour morning walks and we are loving it. Next up, sports and we can’t wait. Enjoy your warms too.
I followed your link from Thankful Thursday, and what a delightful surprise. It is no exageration to say that I am thrilled to hear about your jump to raw diet. My two (60 lb bully breed and 14 lb schnauzer) have been eating the B.A.R.F. raw diet for 3 years. They are ecstatic every mealtime. I fix from scratch each evening for their supper and the next morning’s breakfast, and don’t grind or puree. With raw diet, the stomach ph changes to that of vinegar, well suited to dissolve raw bone. I try to do all organic for them – meat, veggies and fruit – and yes, it’s getting costly, but I figure it’s a lot less than vet bills.
Again, good for you, and good for them!! Amy
Mom worries to much about not having the right nutrients and she doesn’t want to see all the actual parts we are eating, so when she found out about the raw ground and ready to serve, we were in. It is mighty tasty and healthy!
Wowza!!!!! Congratulations!!! Superb accomplishments! Now I feel guilty, Levi is not wearing shoes outside but in this cold I don’t keep him out more than a half hour either.
If it is more than -10, we have trouble walking, Mom calls it paw freeze. Now we are back above zero and enjoying the balmy weather barefoot.
We bet that raw diet is much tastier than that snow
We can wash it down with some melted snow π
Wow!! What a wonderful week!
Right now things are going well at our house and we hope they continue.
As I watch the weather reports on the news, I always think of you girls – knowing how much you love the winter weather. You are so right – you are definitely getting your fair share and then some of this frigid temperatures. Glad to hear it’s gotten a little warmer. We’ve been fighting lot’s of chilly weather (at least for us) and buckets of rain…. So you went raw huh? So happy to hear that all is well.
We’ll take an arctic blast over rain any day! Glad you and the boys are doing well. We are loving the raw. Mom is happy she finally found a way to get it for us π Stay warm!
I am glad that it has warmed up for you! And congrats on all of those titles – that is impressive!
We were quite shocked to see we took up almost half the page! Not many GBGV’s do sports, most are just show dogs. It’s fun to show the world what we really can do besides look pretty.
Yes, it’s been cold, even down here.
Congratulations on the titles!
Canada sent that arctic blast down with a really big push this year. Hope you are staying warm.
Looks like you guys cleaned up on awards. Well done! Have a great wekeend.
Not bad for a bad year in sports where many months of trials were cancelled.
So proud of the four of you going out in 0 degree weather plus all the awards.
We don’t mind the cold. Amazingly, it is below zero again in the morning, but that’s fine. Our furs are built for it.
