It’s time for your dog to have her spring vet visit. Mom scheduled our heartworm test appointments for yesterday afternoon. It’s hard to believe our visit last March was the first time under COVID where Mom couldn’t come in with us. Sadly, it is still that way, but we hope maybe for our yearly physicals she will finally be able to come in with us. We parked in spot 17 and waited for the nice guy to come and get us one at a time. It was super fast as we had everything all wrapped up in just twenty minutes. We are thankful it went fast as we are always a bit frightened at the vet, especially when a stranger takes us away from the car.
Bailie was first. Mom went in age order. Since Bailie doesn’t like the car, she is in her kennel in the back where she feels safer. Lately she has started to squirm out of her seat belt, making the kennel a better option because of that too.
Madison and I cozy up to make sure we each stay as safe as possible. As we expected, our heartworm tests came back negative. We got another year’s supply of heartworm pills to keep us healthy. With the warm weather, we also stocked up on flea and tick preventative. We know a lot of people don’t like pills or topical preventatives and that is fine. Because we are out in the tall grass tracking and doing other things a lot, Mom finds it safer for us to use a pill we take once a month to keep ticks at bay. Natural methods are just not good enough for our lifestyle according to our mom.
We also got weighed in and are happy to say we are all keeping our girlish figures in order!
Don’t forget to schedule an appointment for the spring vet visit for your pup’s heartworm test, and remember with the warmer weather those bad news ticks are out and about too, so protect your furry friend against that threat. We are glad to have the visit behind us and now we are set until our annual physical in late summer.

yes… it is THAT time of the year… and we hope the vet has no time to see us LOL
Moms have a way of getting us all in!
We tried the natural tick remedy too and it just doesn’t cut it. We gotta stay safe!
I get it that it is a nice thought, but we are serious tick magnets and the risk of ticks is just too big to not use the hard stuff.
I’m glad you sweeties passed those tests and it’s a good thing to keep tabs on your health! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
We all want to be as healthy as we can.
Nice work! How about that Madison — is she sticking her tongue out!! Silly girls in the back seat. I am having some old girl challenges so I have been to the vet. I am like you all, I don’t really like going. And I don’t like that mom doesn’t go in with me. But I love our vet so once I see her I calm down. I am on a prescription now and seem to be doing better! I played so hard with my brother last night that it made mom smile really big! Then we all crashed for a good night sleep. Have a great day. Keep on being good girls! your friend Lilly
Old dog issues? You are not an old dog! Glad you seem to be feeling better. I am sticking my tongue out because I can be silly sometimes. How awesome you and your brother had a good romp. It is so wet here right now, we are avoiding going out much. Have a fun day!
We usually do not mind going to our vet, they are all so very nice in there. We don’t like going in without our mom as we have done this last year!! Since we do not have cold winters, we are on Heartworm medicine all year; we are still looking for something to keep the fleas at bay – fleas have become resistant to most of the topicals.
We stopped topicals a few years ago as Mom hated having the mess on our furs. We pop a pill once a month and it works quite well. Even though we have winter, since we sometimes travel, we do heartworm all year too.
I took our kitty Lucy to the vet a few days ago and she was so bad they could not give her her shots. Brother. Have a lovely day!
Oh dear! Our cat bro Bert loves the vet. Mom says we should just leave him there. Sophie is terrified but behaves nicely.
We have to take heartworm pills all year. Puffin and I take our Heart Guard on the first of every month. XOXO Sparkle
We take them all year because we travel sometimes to places not as cold as it is here. It’s better to be safe. We used to take heartguard, but last year they switched us to another kind.
You girls are so darling! We had a vet visit this week – tis the season!
Our vet was super busy, so it must really be the season!
You need to see the vet like we need our checkups. Your mom knows how to take such good care of you and you all deserve the best.
Have a woof woof Thankful Thursday. My best to your wonderful mom. β₯
She takes pretty good care of us, but staying healthy can be tough sometimes because the vet is scary.
We have to get our rabies shot next month. We are going to a new Groomer for the first time tomorrow. Hope we like her. It is a special senior day and mom says were are – both – SPECIAL, and a senior (13 plus years old).
Bailie has a spa appt tomorrow. She is not excited at all.
We’re so glad your visits went well for all you girls! β₯
This appt would be a shock if they found heartworm since we all take the preventative regularly.
Levi has his heartworm test at the end of March, Roary is scheduled to go in at some point in March but not sure when yet! Waiting for their reminder.
Glad the boys are on top of it.
What an important reminder! You guys rock! Cinnamon will get her tests in early May, so will us cats. We have not seen any ticks –yet, but She (Cinnamon) did get covered in burrs yesterday. Many had to be cut out of her dense undercoat and she did NOT like that! It took almost an hour and half to get them all! Cinnamon got some ice cream with Smoked salmon sprinkles for being such a good grrl!
You can keep the burrs, but please pass the ice cream with salmon sprinkles! We haven’t seen a tick, but they are out there, we are sure of it. Our appt for heartworm is always in March because Mom used to only give it to us 8 months a year, but now we take it all year long since we travel.
Great reminder. We are outside all year this year so good to know
It’s important stuff for all pets who are outdoors.
Thankfully, weβve had our well dog check ups and had to get our rabies shot
We do that check up in the late summer or fall, spring is the simple heartworm check up.
Hooray for preventive medicine and good check-ups! Here in the swamps, we have to give heartworm preventive year ’round.
We take ours all year these days too because winters are warmer and we travel to warmer areas sometimes.
With all of Ducky’s hip issues since last summer, I’ve forgotten when she had her last heart worm test. I’ll have to check with the vet. Meanwhile, tho, she does get her preventative every month. Radar’s suffering with and passing due to disease really hit us all hard, so I make absolutely sure that Ducky gets her pill every month on the first of the month. And even with shorter grass, the warmer temps around here keep the fleas and ticks from “hibernating” so I have to be sure I keep Ducky protected.
It is so important. We are still sad about Radar, he seemed like such a nice pup.
