I turned two years and two days old and earned my NW2 Nose Work Title in Winterset, Iowa! Mom and I had a fantastic day of searching. For some reason I has trouble finding the second container hide but I did find it eventually. There were five searches and I earned a pronounced in four of them! Nose work is mentally exhausting so I was happy to lounge in bed when we returned to our hotel.
Speaking of hotels, Iowa is a farm state. One of the more amusing part of our weekend trip is the social distancing stickers the hotel has on the floor. Cows, who knows how long a cow is? We found it pretty funny!
This trial did not offer photos or videos, so there won’t be any documentation of my searches. It is a bummer, but the main thing is I have a pretty ribbon. The trial site was a middle school and their mascot is a Husky. Isn’t he cute? Mom snapped this photo before my last search of the day when I was pretty tired out, but we really wanted a photo of this cute pup.
Not only is nose work mentally taxing for us dogs, learning to sit in the car all day waiting is also something we have to learn to do. I’ve been doing it since I was a young pup, but still, I get bored and tired. Our hammock seat cover makes a nice head rest for me. I like to hang my head on it and give Mom that look that makes her feel guilty I have to wait so long. Don’t you think I do a good job of it?
There were eight hides to be found in my trial. I found them all. I placed twelfth as far as total search time which is pretty good too. Sometimes I forget I’m a pretty young pup still, but I do keep up well with the older dogs who are more experienced.
The really cool thing is that I’m the fourth GBGV to ever earn an NW2 Nose Work Title. Guess who the other three are? Yep, Emma, Bailie, and Madison! Sometimes being a rare breed can be really neat.
On the way back to our hotel, we decided to stop for a photo at one of Madison County’s covered bridges. Do you remember the popular movie in 1995, The Bridges of Madison County, there is a book too? Stop by tomorrow when we show you some of the bridges we found.
My GBGV Life is joining Brianβs Home Blog in the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Your a super star
I do pretty well, but I love it so much it is easy.
YOU TOTALLY ROCK!!! Congratulations!!!
Thank you. My nose is pretty good.
that is amazing… da best noses of this planet congrats congrats congrats!!!
I think I have the very best nose and I nose how to use it too π
You did great getting a title at 2 years and 2 days old! Pretty cool that the 3 other GBGVs that have that title are your sisters. XOXO Sparkle
It is fun when you are a rare breed you get some special things like all the NW2 titles in the family!
Congratulations!!
Thank you.
You’re going to get better and better and when they see you coming you’ll be the pup to beat. Wait and see.
Have a woof woof Thankful Thursday. My best to your siblings and your wonderful mom. β₯
It is true that experience is key. Mom can tell how easy a puzzle is to solve for Bailie, but it takes me longer to figure it out. I’m working on it.
Such a wonderful day! Happy Birthday and congrats on that special and wonderful title!!! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Thank you. It was a great day and the title was a perfect ending.
What a great way to celebrate your your two- day! You have lots to be thankful for on this Thursday! And the hang-dog expression in the hammock say a lot!
Thank you.
Congratulations Olivia! (and your Mom)
Thank you. I do all the work, she just has to communicate with the judge. We had a lot of fun.
wow- Happy Birthday and congrats on your ribbon!!!!
Thank you. I’m quite proud of myself.
You did so great, Olivia! We’re all proud of you. I, Xena, would never have made it past the food distractions, BOL.
LOL! It’s something we have to train for a lot, but I bet she could get by them eventually.
Congrats to you, Olivia! Bridges of Madison County is one of mom’s favorite movies. What a great picture of you girls in front of the bridge!
Wait for tomorrow to see more bridges π
Way To Go, Olivia!!! And to your Mom as well! Great Orange Teamwork!!
I noticed on the summary that the last column says on or off leash. I didn’t realize off leash was an option in the trials. How many dogs actually compete off leash?
Off leash is determined by the search area. If there is an off leash option, it is most often in interiors where you are in a room. Bailie’s exterior search two weeks ago was outside in a courtyard and off leash. A lot of times we search better not tied to mom, but some times it is helpful to stay on task if we are on leash. Mom usually lets us go off leash if we have the option.
Always love the photos here and I sure do love bridges. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you. Tomorrow we will have more covered bridges from Madison County.
We are so excited that you won! And your ribbon is awesome. The covered bridges are so wonderful too (though mom must admit that she has not seen the movie). We cant wait for tomorrow. We hope you guys have a marvellously happy day (and you are all rested up from your exertions)
Thank you! I am really proud of myself and mom did a good job too. It was fun looking for the covered bridges after my trial, but we were all kind of tired so we decided to not find the two that are real spread out. We will find them next time, but we did find four of the six.
Congrats, Olivia!!!! You are a ROCK STAR!!!!
Thank you. I hope I continue to do really well. We have more trials coming up as it is trial season.
You are doing so well with your sports!
Thank you. Mom says I’m the top sports dog in the family and I really love my sports too.
Congratulations, Olivia! We love how you are following in your sisters’ footsteps!
With any luck, I’ll be passing them by soon and they can follow me π
Congratulations! Well done Miss Olivia. π
Thank you. I had fun but worked hard to get the title.
