Visiting Lake Harriet has been on my to do list for a long time. I have been to Lake Calhoun and it is super nice. Going to the lakes on a weekend can be crazy with tons of people and dogs out running, biking, and walking, but we went anyway. It is about a three mile walk all around the lake and we started close to the band shell. Emma had come to Lake Harriet for walks many times according to Mom.
Trying to take photos is a challenge at first since we haven’t been to this lake before and is it so busy. We started doing a few close up photos because Mom wasn’t ready to drop our leashes right away. Can you see how proud Olivia is to be out for a walk? Such a silly girl she is!
In the summer, they rent out canoes and kayaks. Right now they are stacked up waiting for warmer weather and water. We love all the pretty colors they have.
From the south side of the lake, you can see the Lake Harriet Band Shell and the Minneapolis skyline. I know, we are much more interesting, but go ahead and find those items behind us. Our tongues are out because it was seventy degrees which is really warm for us this time of the year. Our bodies need to adjust to warmer weather again.
It appears we may have eaten too much breakfast because this floating dock is definitely slanting into the water! Yikes, I’m super happy we didn’t all fall into the lake because it would make Mom crabby, and the water is still real cold.
Remember my Baywatch post on Monday? Well, besides watching over the lake, a life guard may need a boat to rescue someone in trouble. Olivia and I are ready to head out onto the open water the moment we see someone who needs us.
Visiting Lake Harriet is a lot of fun. Now I need to visit Lake of the Isles as I haven’t been there yet. Hope you enjoyed our little tour. As my tongue is saying, “Time to go, it is way too warm out here!” Back to the car we go for a nice ride home, followed by some treats and a good nap! Adventures are always fun, but tiring.
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.
Looks like a lovely outing. We have had warm days too early in this year as well.
Now we hit some more seasonable weather, but it is raining all day every day which isn’t a lot of fun.
I sooo need to go to Minnesota!! You have the most beautiful places to visit and your photos are always a joy!
Oh, thank you! Mom did live in Belleville for nine months years ago when she was flying. She said northern MI is nice and there were some other nice places, but she didn’t like the weather. It was gray and drab too much. The thing she misses most is the Mexican restaurant Xochimilco, down by the bridge to Canada. At the time she lived there she only had cats, so she can’t speak to it being good for walking dogs or not.
Ladies you are glowing in the sun at Lake Harriet. I really like the pop of colors in the canoe photo…which of course is 87 times enhanced by your two posing there.
Hugs Cecilia
Thank you! We love seeing boats and canoes housed for the winter because we love bright colors.
Those are such nice photos and I love the one with you two in the boat!
Too bad the boat wasn’t on the water, but it was still fun to climb in.
What a great place to visit
It is a popular lake in the city. We have so many lakes, but not all of them have walking paths around them.
What a wonderful adventure. We don’t have parks like that here. We do have a couple of lakes, but they have gators in them! Yikes! One time we had a gator on our street, and I mean a real live gator. Have a happy weekend. XOXO Sparkle
Bailie went to Florida a few times when we had a house in Fort Myers. She said Mom was always scared of gators. They would sleep on the golf course and sometimes they would see one coming out of a pond. Too creepy and it terrified Mom because she was afraid for her pups.
that looks great! how big is that lake? it looks ginormous to us. well everything is bigger in the us… even da potatoes, so the lakes will too, right?
Texas is where everything is really, really big! This lake is about 5 km around on the walking trail.
How fun. Your mom does the most wonderful things with you.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your mom. β₯
We are her built in buddies who love to do fun stuff with her. Without us, she wouldn’t do half the stuff because humans never have the time it seems.
That looked like a lovely trip to the lake.
It was perfect and we are thankful it wasn’t too crowded.
What a beautiful spot to visit and you girls do look on the warmer side. Sticking your paws in the water might have cooled you down a wee bit.
The ice cold water felt great, and it was tasty too because I tried to drink the lake empty according to my mom. Olivia wasn’t sure about drinking lake water. She eats anything and everything, but is picky about her drinking water. Silly girl!
What a fun trip
It was a real fun walk, even though it was a touch too warm for us.
What a wonderful adventure!! You two did an excellent job of “sit-staying” while your photographer took her photos!!
We are all pretty good about it and if mom is sure no squirrels will race by, she doesn’t mind dropping our leashes.
What a great adventure! We can tell it is warm there from the tongues! We can’t wait for the lakes here to melt so Cinnamon can go for a hike around the lake. Alas, the lakes in the Okanagan Valley don’t allow dogs on the beaches or on the paths so she has not yet had a swim. We hope you have a marvellously happy weekend and get to have some terrific adventures!
We are hoping the rain finally stops as it has been gray and rainy all week. Hoping for a sunny weekend that isn’t too warm. You all have a Grand weekend too!
Beautiful past! I had to giggle…we love in Calhoun County (MI), and I have a cousin named Harriet!
It sure was way too warm the past few days, but now we are more normal…about 67F.
Enjoy your walks, and all the nature around you!
Happy Birthday to our friend, Marg!!
That is funny! Do you have any name connections with Isles as Lake of the Isles is the third of the chain of three lakes in city?
That does look like a fun, although warm, place to visit. Maybe you need an ice water igloo cooker in the car.
It’s good to be able to get a drink of lake water this time of year when it is so warm, and getting our paws in the water is nice too! Mom always has water in the car, but that is for after our walks.
We bet you two would be dogtastic life guards and save anyone in need. I (Xena) get too hot when it’s 70 and sunny, too. Our Dad spent some time working in Minneapolis and and the company wanted to hire him, but he and Mom didn’t want to move away from Chattanooga.
XOX Lucy and Xena
It’s a nice place. We love the winters but the summers are hot and humid which no one at our house likes. Thank dog for A/C! Bailie was in Chattanooga years ago. They stayed at some Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel. The room was not good, not sure why they even stayed there, but that is all we know about Chattanooga.
What a nice tour, and such a pretty lake! You girls found some great props to pose with. Hope you had a nice cool ride home!
Mom opened the sun roof and put the windows down so there was a lot of wind for a few minutes to cool us off. It was a fun day!
What a beautiful place to explore! You two look pretty pawesome in that lifeguard boat!
Thank you. I guess we are beach babes in the spring!
