It’s a spring mix in Minnesota this week. On my morning walk I say everything from ice, to greens sprouting up, to flowers. Most mornings were either below freezing or just above, but some flowers do survive this weather. The best flowers I could find are the wooden ones!
Some of our neighbors are watering their lawns already. We don’t know why as it is so cold still, and who wants grass to grow? Grow means mow! The other morning the mailboxes were totally covered in ice from the lawn sprinklers!
Of course, those nasty dandelions are sprouting up all over the place. We found this frosty one handling the cold pretty well.
In our yard we don’t have any flowers yet, but we do have green plants starting to pop up. When we get some warm weather, I bet they will really grow fast.
These lilies look like spring. The crazy thing is they are just across the street from the iced down mailboxes and icy lawn. Good thing their humans don’t have their sprinkler system on yet! It truly is a spring mix in our area!
Last but not least, I do have a little blooper for your enjoyment. That darn cat bro Bert insisted on sitting in the window when I was taking my photo with the flowers. He is such a photo bomber! Eventually I decided to take the first photo in this post to cut him out of the mix! No matter what the weather, at least our front door looks like spring!
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.
Spring is springing
Some days it is, but we are looking at some snow again on Sunday possibly.
We have been having frosty mornings here too this week, but our dandelions also seem to cope just fine with the unseasonably cold weather.
Bertie is outraged that you were photo bombed by a C-A-T!!!
That cat is nothing but trouble! He thinks he is a dog and is always getting in our way.
Dang, that icy stuff doesn’t look like much fun at all but you look really pretty on the front porch. Howdy Bert!
It is such a waste of water and money to water when it is so cold and early in the year, but some people don’t seem to get it.
Good morning Minnesota…OMDs you Mother nature and Old man winter are having a tugging match here too.
It was 32 this morning in Dixie. However, we heard there is a possibility of 90’s in the 7 day forecast.
Tell Mom I love her door decoration…
Hugs Cecilia
We had 80 on Easter, then back to freezing. It’s the April roller coaster! Mom loves her wooden flowers too π
What a mix of spring to winter you have had! We don’t have much in the way of spring here. Hi, Bert! Have a great weekend! XOXO Sparkle
Spring is always an up and down time of year which is one reason we are not so fond of it. Maybe next week it will warm up and stay warm.
We are watering our lawn here, but it’s already dry here. I love your spring door decoration.
Bert is a handsome cat and I linked this post to Feline Friday because he photobombed that shot.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
That is our cat, always in the midst of what we dogs are trying to do, grrr. Many places need to water lawns, but when temps are below freezing at night and maybe fifty during the day, it is a real waste of water and money. Oh well. We have our wooden flowers to keep us happy. No water needed.
Great Job, Joy!
Your mailbox looks so sad with all of those icicles. Mom just finished cutting grass for the 2nd time. She must have mowed over 1000 dandelions!
We don’t plan to mow for at least another two weeks. No hurry to start that process! I think it may be safe to say your mom mowed dandelions and maybe a bit of grass?
Dandelions are very useful – the greens are edible, and the flowers are the first available for any bees to feed on.
As long as they are not all over our yard we are fine with them. They can grow in parks and fields and stuff. We don’t really want the bees around our house either.
Sorry but I had to laugh at Bert photobombing you. It’s what cats do!
Yes, that feline is a real pain in our canine furs!
We’re having a drought. No pretty plants springing up here, and we’re not really supposed to water much anyway. Your part of the world is way prettier than ours!
Our people find a cat photobomber in lots of their pics. It’s what we do! π
Our cat loves to photo bomb us too! You can sure have some of our rain, we are tired of it.
Awww, Bert just wants to see what you are doing. He also wants to be in pictures!
Hope you have a wonderful spring.
The feline just wants to be a dog is what we think.
it was the same here in michigan. Crazy weather, 80s this week!
We have three days of rain coming up with some flurries mixed in tomorrow. Not real nice.
MOL…loved to see you too today, BertπΈThis Spring is mixed up very much, but with all the colourful flowers and you in it, it feels pretty warmπΈDouble Pawkisses for all of youπΎπ½π
Oh that cat! He is always trying to steal our show! Glad you like to see him.
Sometimes we just have to make our own spring! Our daffodils have survived being covered by snow twice this month, but they just keep bouncing back!
Bert is so funny and cute, we love his photo bomb!
He is good at eating toilet paper and throwing it up, stealing food and photo bombing. Not real productive, really!
We LOVE your Wooden flowers! Your dandelions, and the green that is coming up! We too have had some icy morning, some HOT afternoons, rain and sun! It is spring and we are so glad that we are out and about more! And we are glad that Bert is a photobomber! We hope you all have a marvellously happy (and warmer) week.
It is supposed to get warmer as the week progresses, we shall see! It’s kind of cold and rainy again today, but we are hopeful for some sunshine this week.
