It’s a RATCH for me, Madison! We all went to Grinnell, Iowa for Barn Hunt and FastCAT June 11th and 12th. Olivia and I had a chance to earn four new titles and we got three, which isn’t bad. Bailie wasn’t up for titles, but she got some Q’s. The event were held at the Poweshiek County Fairground. It was in the nineties, so hot, and super windy!
Our set up was similar to the previous weekend. We put our crates in a building that was covered but pretty open. With the winds, Mom didn’t even need to set up our fans. The ham in the middle, aka Olivia, still has the wire crate because she will rip her way out of the soft sided crates. Olivia doesn’t like to be left behind waiting for her turn.
We all did our FastCat runs first and then I was up for my Masters run. I needed one Q for my Rat Champion Title. Once you have a Masters Title, you need ten Q’s to earn a Champion. Guess what? I did it on my first run. There are one to five rats to find. Mom has to figure out when I have found them all. In my run there were just two. We are so very excited as I’ve been working on it Q by Q since December 2019. COVID slowed down the process with so many cancelled trials! Finally I have a ribbon that is bigger than I am! I’m also the first GBGV ever to earn aΒ RATCH!
Not only do I get the fancy ribbon, The RAT Pack, the club hosting the trial, gives all RATCH titles a chair. Since it isn’t real comfy for dogs, I am giving it to my mom, but the ribbon is mine! The back is embroidered so no one can take it off of there!
We also did FastCAT while we were there. Each of us got to do three runs, one Friday and two Saturday.
Bailie still needs some more points to earn her first FastCAT title, but she had three good runs and earned more points with each one. This was her third trial with us now. Back in April, she got sick before each of her runs. Since she isn’t used to traveling much and she worries about things, having Mom take off to go catch her kind of freaks her out. This weekend she was much better with it all, didn’t get sick and actually let a stranger release her for her last run.
Olivia and I have been working on points since last August when we earned our BCAT Titles in Amana, Iowa. We each ran some more personal best times which is crazy. Olivia didn’t do so well in Barn Hunt because there were too many dogs around the ring distracting her, but she did great in FastCAT and earned her DCAT Title.
I also earned my DCAT Title and am still one to two seconds slower than Olivia. With my short legs, I consider it pretty amazing. FastCAT makes me super wild and I really race after the lure. The ribbons we eared are so pretty, and we are super happy! Having my RATCH take a lot of pressure off team pink. Now I will be going after my Crazy 8’s Titles.
My GBGV Life is happy, so weβre joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
Are you going to need to build a room on the house to put all these ribbons metals and chairs. Congratulations you all did so well. Clover and I am very proud of you
Mom is super proud of me as we have worked on my Barn Hunt RATCH for so long and we did it! Now it is kind of funny with our goal reached but I will continue hunting rats, just going for a different title from now on.
CONGRATS, MADISON! You are the beast oops I mean best! XOXO Sparkle
I kind of am a beast when it comes to finding ratties!
concats to the fastest cats who are dogs ;O) we love this event, that would be our kind of sports too ;O)
You boys would go so crazy! Too bad you can’t come and visit us and we would take you with us to run FastCAT.
What a wonderful weekend even if it was a little too hot !
It was way too hot, but it didn’t stop us from earning titles π
Wow, look at all the ribbons. You’re mom is proud and so are we. I know your mom loves these weekends with you.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
We all really enjoy being together and competing…well Bailie not as much because of the need to ride in the car, and she isn’t so into sports, but she enjoys having the pack together. We have a busy bunch of weekends coming up, so we are excited!
Congratulations to all of you – especially you, Madison! Your RATCH ribbon is just awesome!
It is something I am really proud of as it takes a lot to earn it and I really work hard at rat hunting. I’m enjoying a ribbon that is longer than I am!
I am speechless! Too awesome! Remember to post this in the GBGVCA wins and brags. We like ALL firsts, and I’m not historian any more.
We have so many firsts because most don’t do sports with their GBGV’s and if they do, they only do the first level to get a title and then quit.
Oh my you had a good time!
It was totally my kind of weekend!
WOW, WOW and more WOW, congrats, that’s a terrific weekend!!!
It sure was. We all had a blast, but I had the best time.
WAHOO!!! Congrats Madison, fun and the title, a girl can’t ask for more!
xoxo,
Sunny and the Gang

Thank you. We are proud hounds too.
Wow, those are huge ribbons. I thought mine were nice, but now I wish they were bigger. Great jobs getting all those points and stuff, girls. Us girls rock! XOX Xena
The higher the title, the bigger the ribbon it seems. We are super pleased!
Congratulations for all the wins ladies! You are really excellent athletes and we are so glad to see the fruits of your labors. Extra concatulations to you Madison being the FIRST GBGV to get a RATCH title! WOW! We are so excited for you guys.
Thank you. It’s fun being a rare breed as we have so many firsts and our names will always hold those spots!
Congratulations to all of you! Every event brings you closer to your goals.
The RATCH was a huge goal for me and now I have reached it so I have to find another goal in Barn Hunt, but that is a good thing.
Congratulations to all you pups! That chair is really cool!
Mom is excited about our chair too. She wants to get my name put on it next.
Congratulations, Madison!! It sounds like it was a great weekend for everyone!
We all had fun, but for me it was a real big event weekend!
