It’s an NW3 Title for me, Olivia! I am the first one in the family to earn a Nose Work 3 title and I did it on my second try. Emma, Bailie, and Madison have been working on this for years and I simply did it. Don’t forget, I also earned a leg at my first NW3 trial in May. I need three – NW3’s to move on to Elite, so I’m half way there! FYI, I’m also the only GBGV to have an NW3 and that is so cool!
My Trial Preparation
We drove to Davenport for my trial on Friday. After our walking at the riverfront, and some dinner, I headed for bed. A girl needs a good rest to be on top of her sniffing game!
In the morning I hopped in the tub to get freshened up for the day. Mom says it isn’t just what you do, but how you look doing it. I can’t believe she took my photo in the tub!
While Mom got ready, I rested under the desk in the room but kept an eye on her. I definitely didn’t want to be left behind!
Earning The NW3 Title
We don’t have any photos from my trial because it was cold and it rained all day. I don’t mind that kind of weather, but Mom was not thrilled at all. It turns our there were nine hides in my six searches. Of course, I found them all fairly quickly, but nervous Nellie, aka Mom, kept me looking around for longer than necessary because she was afraid of missing something. The hide sheet shows you what hides were where. Mom says her favorite search of all was containers because I sniffed everyone of them and called the correct one!
The trial was a bit sad for Mom because it was the last NW3 Emma ever did. On the other paw, she felt like Emma was with us helping us along to finally get that NW3 Title. Whatever went on, it worked wonders as I am the first one in the family to earn my NW3! It is a happy thing, but it made Mom cry. I never got to meet Emma, but Mom feels that Emma sent me to the family because I am the dog Mom needs. I think she is right about that.
Mom is still working on trusting and calling things faster. She did a lot better at this trial than at my first one but she still needs to just say “finished” when I let her know we are done. I know she will do better next time. Despite not getting a placement ribbon, we are super happy to have fourth place. I just turned two three months ago and to be where I am at in nose work is amazing! Every trial we get better as a team and we will continue to improve. We are both happy most of all to have a title, only seven of thirty five dogs earned a title and to be fourth out of thirty five dogs is nothing to sneeze at!

Emma knew what Mom needed and I am it. It makes her cry sometimes but I don’t mind. We are a great team.
Emma is right by your side through the entire process. Now if you get Emma to kick her when you are done you can cut all this time.
Mom really just needed to finally get one of these titles and now she will be more relaxed and able to call finished earlier. If not, I have been known to leave on my own and that should be a big clue!

It made mom cry when we got the title, but she sad they were a combination of sad and happy tears.

Olivia, it’s true – you are just “nosey”! I believe Emma WAS helping you. I think she was in the tub with you too. You are what your mom needed, and I think Emma helped pick you out as a puppy. Bittersweet times are also sweet times.
I have to agree. I’m nothing like Emma, Madison is a lot like her, but I think I’m what mom needs.
