Green beef tripe is a wonder food for dogs. For humans, the smell is a deterrent, but if your human can get over the aroma, your pup should be eating tripe. There are many kinds of tripe, but we like the beef variety. Mom gets us frozen tripe patties and also dried tripe.
Why is tripe such a wonder food for dogs?
- Tripe improves gut health like a probiotic
- Helps with digestion
- It’s a high protein, low fat food/snack
- Helps promote dental health
- A good balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids
- Leucine promotes muscle recovery and repair
- It’s loaded with calcium
- Aspartic acid boosts antibody production
- Healthy phosphorus ratio to calium
- Even picky dogs love tripe
Tripe is fairly expensive so we don’t get it every day. What is green beef tripe? It comes from the stomach lining.muscles of grass fed farm animals. In many countries people also eat tripe but their variety is a bit different.
When there is a sale, Mom buys us frozen tripe patties. We get ten pounds of four ounce patties. They fit nicely in our dog food freezer and are easy to take out and defrost. Since Mom finds it rather disgusting she loves that there is paper around each patty so she doesn’t have to touch it.
We all just love it. I am fine with licking the frozen patty because it is so good. Once or twice a week we get a crumbled up patty on top of our normal dinner. It sure is tasty!
Natural beef tripe chews are another tasty way to get the benefits of tripe! Mom always has a big bag of tripe chews in the cupboard for us. We enjoy them a couple times a week in the evening before bed. They are good for our dental health with all their natural grooves and rough texture. The only problem is they don’t last very long.
Has your dog tried raw tripe on her food or tripe chews? We highly recommend them to supplement any diet. As I mentioned, they are smelly but we don’t smell after eating tripe, so Mom can deal with it. We get our patties from Raw Paws and our chews from Best Bully Sticks. One needs to always make sure and buy things like Tripe from good companies. We are thankful for green beef tripe in our food and treat rotation!

I want some too! Who doesn’t want to be more healthy, right?!
Especially when it tastes so good!
Yup. We agree green tripe is deeeelicious!
Definitely one of our favorite things to eat.
Donβt know if mom could get over the smell
Mom works through it, but she doesn’t want to touch the patties. The tripe chews don’t really smell, so she doesn’t mind those much.
You girls are lucky to get the good stuff like the tripe! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
It sure is good stuff!
Gee, I’d love to try tripe! I bet even picky Puffin would like it, but trying to convince my mom might not work. Do the chews leave an odor on the carpet? XOXO Sparkle
The chews are pretty much odor free unless Mom puts them up to her nose. We can smell them, but the patties are very aromatic! We eat the chews pretty fast and then grab the crumbs out of the carpet if there are any.
Eeeeek green tripe? Yow- if I had a dog he or she would have to take that outside please! Great photos !
The chews don’t really smell at all, and the patties come out quickly, go on our food and we gobble them up so the smell is here and gone quickly.
It’s so important to make sure our babies are eating healthy. Pups can have the same health problems we can have if they have an unhealthy diet. No doubt in my mind that your peeps make sure you’re eating healthy.
Have a woof woof Thankful Thursday. My best to your smart mom. β₯
Mom keeps working to make sure our food and treats are as healthy as we can get. I guess we are lucky because not all dogs have healthy diets.
I think we will stick with straight Salmon. Purrs
Probably the best for a cat.
I think it’s Only Natural Pet that has some green tripe training treats that we get from time to time. We don’t do much training anymore, but we take them on walks. Luke loves them!
I think Mom had those a few years ago, but now we eat it this way.
Sounds delicious!! Now we need to work on Mama into starting with some tripe treats!
xoxo,
Arty and the Gang
The chews don’t really smell, so she might like them better.
Our Mom gets us chubs of green tripe with other organs and ground bone. Does your tripe just have tripe (sounds like the beginning of a funny poem, doesn’t it?) or other things, too. Our Mom would like to know how to order it. XOXOX Xena and Lucy
The tripe patties are just tripe. We add them to our regular raw food a couple times a week. They do sell the chubs too but we are only looking for straight tripe to add to our meals. It sure is yummy!
Where do your get it? the chews look familiar, but We haven’t seen the patties.
We get the patties from Raw Paws. They ship them on dry ice.
Tripe sounds like a perfect snack, maybe i could get some although i wonder if Little Girl would give it to Coda because of the smell, i have to ask.
Mom says it is really smelly and she doesn’t like it, but since we love it and it is healthy, she still gets it for us.
You have got to be the luckiest dogs ever!
We do love good food and are lucky to get lots of it.
