My sisters and I are so happy Mom came back home. Last Thursday morning she ran four miles with my sisters and then headed out with me on a three mile walk. We do this every day, alternating who runs and who walks but this day was different. About a mile into the walk she started to feel dizzy and tired. Mom is like the Energizer Bunny, she never gets tired enough to actually need to rest. On this day she was having trouble.
Remember I was with her when she fell running and broke her ankle? I seem to be the “emergency” dog, which isn’t really a job I care to have. She kept trying to keep walking but had to sit down and rest. It was so bad she could only go maybe ten feet without resting. Finally she called a neighbor to pick us up. We returned home via car and Mom just laid down on the floor. It was decided to go to the ER because something was really wrong. We girls waited at home, and we hadn’t even had our breakfast!
On the way to the ER Mom felt even worse. They ended up calling 911. The ambulance drivers decided almost immediately she was having a heart attack and they rushed her to the hospital. It was a bad one they told her and she was lucky she came in as fast as she did. They gave her an ugly nightgown to wear and plugged her into all kinds of machines once they got her artery cleared out.
Our neighbors took really good care of us girls with walks, treats, and meals, but still we wondered what happened to our mom. Olivia had never been home overnight without a human in the house, but she did fine. We took turns waiting in the window for her to return.
The neighbors told us Mom was going to be fine and would be back soon. She ended up being gone for three whole days! We were so happy when we heard she was coming home. With a little help, we made the banner for her so she would know how much we missed her and worried about her.
Mom works out like a crazy woman and eats right, but genetics can really mess a living creature up. No matter how healthy you think you are, things can happen. She had a complete blockage of her LAD artery which is often caused a widow maker heart attack. We are all so lucky she is still with us. Now we are helping her take it easy for a while as her heart heals and she works on getting back to normal. Things won’t be that exciting around here for a while but we are just happy to be together no matter what we are doing.
My GBGV Life is happy, so weβre joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
Glad she is back home now. Iβm sending her some speshul westie kisses for a full recovery!
Thank you.

How scary. We are so happy that you girls are reunited at home! We send your mom tons of AireZen and healing vibes!
We are happy to be together even though we are limited to doing not much and everything in slow fashion for a while.
OMD! We knew something was up. Something did not feel right. Wow! Take good care of your mommy, and be careful with those toe nails against the her skin especially her arms. My mom is on Plavix and Puffin is always bruising her arms. We are so tail wagging thankful your mom is doing okay. That was scary for all of you. π₯°πβ€πXOXO Sparkle
We are super happy she is alright too, but she is kind of afraid of life in general now. No worries, we are doing our best to take good care of her.
Good grief, Joy! I am so sorry to read this and am thankful you are doing well. Donβt scare us like this anymore!! XXOO
It has been scary and Mom is still scared because she doesn’t trust her own self anymore. With time it will get better.
I am so glad that your Mom is back home!
We are happy too as it just isn’t the same without her in our pack.
Dear Mom ~ you have a heart that is overflowing with love, and a heart that is big and good and it’s most important to keep it that way! So rest well, heal well and do all the things you must do to refresh the heart, soul and spirit! OK? OK!
Fondly, Ann and JUNE
We are working on keeping Mom on a leash as she has trouble taking it easy but she is doing her best to follow orders and get back to her old self as soon as possible.
Oh dear! We’re so glad to hear your mom is home and feeling better. It’s a good thing she called the neighbor when she did. We have our paws crossed that she continues to recover well and does whatever the doctor orders her to. You all will be great nurses for her too.
We are so thankful she got help in time and is back home with us. Hopefully she will have a good and speedy recovery so we can all get back to doing what we love.
Iβm so sorry that ad to go through this especially Mom. Girls it your time to sil Mom. Give her lots f treats and hugs. Feel better
It is a real bummer, but she is still here and that is the best news of all. We are working on being slow and gentle since she needs that now.
I’m glad your mom is home and better. I know your mom will do what the doctors tell her to do. Yes genetics overrule a healthy lifestyle and often.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Big healing hug to mom and scritches all around. β₯
Oh my sweet friends I’m so very sorry to read your Mom has been feeling very poorly. Thank goodness she paid attention to how she was feeling and most of all had her phone with her. That is something I need to remember to do.
You are so right genetics often take over even when one is very health conscious.
Sending loads of healing hugs to Mom as her heart heals and she regains her energy. Cecilia
Funny thing is she didn’t have her phone on the run with my sisters, just grabbed it for our walk. We are very lucky indeed!
Holy moly! When mom read that you didn’t all do the trials this weekend she was worried something was up. She was right. Wow. Sounds like everyone did everything right. And — good work Bailie! What if your mom hadn’t been out walking with you? She might have been doing something alone and wouldn’t have been able to call out for help like she did. Two times Bailie has been right there in an emergency! You all take good care of your mom — she is very special. We are sending all good thoughts and good energy your way. your friend Lilly
Mom feels great, but she has to take it easy and that is not easy for her. We will help keep her from doing too much so she can heal as fast as possible. The main thing is she survived.
Oh my word, Joy! Thank God you’re okay now! The girls will take good care of you, but you definitely need to slow down and let yourself relax.
Girls, I love that Welcome Home banner you made, and I’m sure your Mom loves it even more!
Mom really loved the banner, it was a total surprise. Now we have to all three keep sitting on her to keep her from doing too much since she feels fine but inside her heart still has to heal.
Gosh, that was scary!! We are so relieved and glad your Mom is OK and back home with you. Take good care of her, girls. β₯β₯
We are all going to do our best to make sure she follows the doctor’s orders and gets better as fast as possible.
WOW!!! How scary! quick thinking saved the day, but let’s not have a repeat!!! PLEASE!!!
None of us want to ever have a repeat!
That is so scary. Glad you are ok
It was a scary hour or so, but it seems to have ended well.
I have not met any of you before this but I have seen you on others blogs in your comments and I’m so sorry this has happened and you’re in my prayers for a quick healing and to read a recovery to come quickly. I know your babies are on your mind and I know they miss you terribly. I hope you feel better each day
Thank you. Mom feels great, but her heart needs to heal, so she has to take it easy for a while. She’ll be doing rehab therapy to help her stay on track to get back to where she was before this happened.
Oh dear, how very scary for all of you and we’re so glad that your Mom was wise enough to recognize something was wrong. Purrs from all of us.
Thank you. It was scary for all of us but we feel much better now that our pack is together again.
That must have been very scary for you all and for your mommy too. Thank Cat she’s home where you can be the best purramedics that she needs right now. Healing Pawkisses for a speedy recoveryπΎπ½π
Bailie was a bit frustrated because Mom wouldn’t walk but she stuck with her and made sure she got home and then looked out for us until she came home again.
How frightening! We’re glad your mom is home.
It was scary when we couldn’t walk home, and they we pups worried about her until she came back home.
We are SOOOOO happy your Mama is doing better. Thank goodness she knew the warning signs and called for help!
Now, we know this is going to be hard…because your Mama is used to always go, go, going…but do your best to help her relax for bit so she can get all the way better real soon!!
Sending lots of snuggles(and hugs from our Mama)
xoxo,
Rosy and the Gang
She didn’t ever think she was having a heart attack, but that is what it ended up being. We are so glad she is back home with us and we can look after her really well.
Terrible draw of the genes! So happy you had super fast medical care. Take care and follow your care providers directions and you will be back on your feet soon. Sending you hugs from California!
We are doing our best to make sure Mom follows directions but it is tough because she feels like nothing happened. She knows she has to keep it all slow and she will because she wants her heart to heal.
We’re so happy to hear your Mom is okay. Purrs and prayers for a quick and complete recovery for her.
The Florida Furkids
Thank you.
We are so glad your Mom is home and doing well! What good help she got from you girls and the neighbors and the EMTs and everybody at the hospital ! We send her lots of purrayers and Power of the Paw to continue to get better !
She had a group of people and pets all helping and pulling for her and thank dog is all worked out.
We send loving wishes and hugs for a good recovery for your Mom.

Her heart needs time to heal, but Mom feels great and is home where she belongs.
So pleased to hear your mum is now back home again, what an awful experience for all, especially your mum ((((hugs))))) xxx
It is definitely not anything we ever thought would happen or wanted to happen but it is going well. We are thankful.
How scary!!! Purrs and prayers for a complete, speedy recovery!
Thank you. It was scary and now we wonder if something will ever happen again. Scary thing.
Wishing you all the best. Sending hugs and prayers for a quick recovery.

Thank you.
Joy and girls, I am so glad you are home after that scare.
We all know you will take even better care of yourself – your girls will make sure of that!
Hugs to all of you!
There isn’t a lot more Mom can do as it is mainly genetics that are messing with her, but she is on the mend and we will take good care of her.
Geez, please be careful! Too many wonderful creatures depend on you – and be careful just because you deserve a long and happy life. Our best wishes to you.
Thank you. We are keeping a close eye on our mom and helping her recover as best as she can.
Your mom will be in my prayers for full healing.
Thank you. We all have our paws crossed that she will be back to normal in no time.
I am guessing you will NOT want Mom to do THAT again, you pups. Get well soon Mom and take it easy for a while OK.
Thank you.
Oh my goodness- I am so happy your Mom is back home!
We are happy she is in the best place in the world, home with us, again.
Oh my gosh! How scary! We certainly are happy that your mom got help in time, and that she will be okay. Please tell her we have our fingers and paws crossed for a full and speedy recovery. XO
She should be alright, but seriously, who knows with the human body. We are doing our best to help her recover.
Oh, dear! Glad Mom is home and hopefully on the speedy road to recovery.
We are taking good care of her and we hope she can get back to the normal routine soon.
Oh thank goodness your mom is ok. I hope her recovery is going well. I’m sure you are being good dogs for her! Tell her to get well soon.
We are trying to teach her to lie around and nap all day, but she says that isn’t her thing. We are just glad she is back home.
Oh wow, that must have been scary for all of you! I am very glad that everyone is okay now.
Mom has weeks of time to mellow out while her heart recovers, but we are happy she feels like normal and is home with us.
Oh my goodness – I am so glad that your mom is okay. You make sure that she rests, okay girls? I am sending lots of healing thoughts.
We are taking good care of her and hopefully today she can get a better action plan when she goes to her rehab appt.
Oh dear God! I am in complete shock!! total shock! Thank GOD your Mom is ok! When I saw something was wrong on Facebook I thought it was her ankle again! OMG I never, ever would have suspected this!!! Your Mom is always hiking and all. I am stunned! I am so happy she is ok……..thank God she knew she needed help!!!!! Sending lots of love to your Mama!
It was a shock for us all especially since she had a stress test in May and everything was perfect. The doc said the blockage happened quickly. It was scary, but we are happy it has gone well and we are all together again.
Holy cow! Just very glad your mum survived and had exceptional care for her and you guys. With how expensive healthcare is, you’d think they could so something about those gowns, don’t you? Hope your mum is back to being her working out self again soon. Rest and take good care ππ½ββοΈ
She has been walking since the day after it happened and is doing rehab so she can safely get back to walking and running like she used to do.
Oh my Joy! I am in shock as well! I just happened to see your post about the cardiac dogs. My husband had a very similar experience last year and now has two stents. He never had any symptoms and had also just passed a stress test. Glad to hear you are now going through rehab. Stay positive! Sending you strength!
Jeanne, Juliet and Romey
Thank you. It has been scary, but Mom is working through it. Thank goodness she had her phone with her and acted quickly. She should be able to have a full recovery.
This is the kind of thing you just don’t expect when you take such good care of yourself, doing everything right. As an adoptee, I have no idea what might be in my genes. Saying a prayer for your Mom that this was a one and only event.
We sure hope it doesn’t happen again, ever. Her cousin is adopted and recently found her birth parents. She is relieve to know more about her family health history now.
