The struggles of living with a feline are very real at our house. Cat bro Bert is taking over more and more of our stuff. The window bed is still a favorite spot to steal during the afternoon when there is some sunshine. He is truly a cranky, old man cat these days. We figure he is around fifteen to sixteen years old now.
Recently he discovered Bailie’s nice big furry dog bed. He enjoys sitting right in the middle of it and refuses to move. Now Bailie is a big fan of chasing Bert around the house with me, but she will not mess with him when he is in her bed. She knows he can get pretty mean with those paws and claws. The bed is obviously way too big for a small cat.
I’m not afraid of Bert in the least. If Bailie won’t get him to move I will. He is not a fan of my tender kisses and licks, so they are my main weapon. Can you see how thrilled he is about me kissing him?
Lastly, we had a bit of a tangle in the kitchen the other night. I’m using this photo as evidence of the cat using his left hook with claws extended on me. He really is not a nice fighter at all. Living with a feline is rough on us dogs, but for now, we have to put up with this guy. Cat bro Bert and I will be at odds forever as neither of us will give up.
We are joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop held by Comedy Plus.
Bailie OMCs you are the wisest of the 3 pups in they house. Cat rulez are that there are now rulez…anything goes anytime.
Good idea to let Bert(who is a most handsome senior man cat) have your bed because one thing I am sure cats are masters at revenge. MOL MOL Angel Madi was a social kitty (on her own terms which changed by the nano second). Thank you for sharing Bert with us today. His left hook is mighty and for sure one should turn and run from it and never EVER turn the other cheek.
Oh speaking of cats one of my grandcats, Mia, is a Tortie and she 100% has the torTItude. She is 8 lbs of TNT her brother Frisco the Ginger man (16 lbs) has the utmost respect for her too.
Hugs to you all and to Mom I hope she is getting stronger each day
Hugs cecilia
If cat bro Bert doesn’t give her a heart attack with his cranky ways and causing of trouble, she should be fine. He is just a bad cat all the way around, but those who don’t live with him seem to love him.
Thatβs why we have no cats in our house.
Mom says she may not get another cat when these two are gone. They are a lot of work and trouble.
You sure know how to pick out the good bed Bert!
He is not shy about stealing the best things we pups have in the house.
That cat bro is too much! But he is the senior sibling, isn’t he? Good luck in your tussles with him! your friend Lilly
Yes, he is probably around fifteen years old and Bailie is only eight but dogs are the majority in the house, so we should be in charge, right? Have a fun weekend.
We agree, cats are not a lot of fun to have around. Our cat, Clarence, mostly stays in the spare bedroom because he wants nothing to do with us dogs. In a previous life, he beat up Mia when she was a puppy – and Mia remembers that well! Zachary would love to lick Clarence and maybe chase him a little, but Clarence wants none of that! Clarence is mostly asleep during the day, so he is easy to ignore.
We do sometimes chase the cats around the house, or when Bert tries to run away from home, mom has us tackle him in the yard and hold him there until she can get to him. Chasing is fun, but that is about all the fun with cats.
It is tough and the cat is always in charge. If you don’t let them do what they want out comes those claws. It’s not fair indeed. You have mom though and she’ll right things for you.
Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.
Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
She does remove Bert quite frequently and we are thankful for that.
He is just catastrophic! Be kind to him even tho he is a cranky old man! I think I am glad we don’t have a cat! Have a good weekend. XOXO, Sparkle
It is tough to be kind to him but we do have some tender moments now and then.
YAY BERT!!!!! You make me so proud to be a kitty!! I do that too and I have another move I can share. I move reallll close to Levi and let him think I am going to kiss his neck………..then……..just when he thinks the kiss is coming I BITE him!!!!! Mom and Dad don’t appreciate that move but I do! Works like a charm! Love, Roary
Bert has never bitten any of us but he is always punching us and putting those claws out as he does it. Shame on kitties for hurting us because we don’t hurt him.
Maybe Bert will mellow out as he gets older, though it sounds like it’s going the other way! He looks really good and healthy for his age. He may be tormenting you for a LONG time to come! π
We fear he may live forever as he isn’t slowing down much in his old age.
Bert is going to do as he likes. We cats rule friends. We would suggest he pulls in those claws, but, looks like you have lots of hair to protect you and he knows it. Just be glad he’s not 60 pounds!
Oh good grief, sixty pounds of cat and we would move out of here! He is bad enough at like twelve pounds.
Wow, this is a very illuminating post. The horror!
Should Gail ever even think about bringing a cat bro into the household, I now know exactly how to react.
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
You are lucky you don’t have a feline in your home. They create nothing but trouble.
You need to grab the edge of YOUR bed with your teeth and dump him on the floor!
We have never tried that, but maybe we should give it a try.
Well, you should respect your elders – LOL!! Bert is a handsome fella. Have a great weekend everyone!!! Joy – hope you are doing well!!!!
Elders as in dogs, cats don’t really count I think. Mom is doing alright, just working on taking it easy and healing.
Mama always threatens to get a cat to keep us in line….I sure hope she doesn’t, I don’t even like sharing my fluffy bed with Arty!!
xoxo,
Rosy (& the Gang)
I don’t think a cat would enjoy having four puppy siblings and you guys would probably not like the cat trying to take over your home all the time.
I too think yo shold just grab the edge of teh bed with uor teeth adn dump hm – and roll into the bed really quickly before he knows what him . I am forever grateful that my mom has asthma that is aggrevated by cat hair, so WE will never have any more cats. Hang in there; girls are tougher than guys, I should know .. I’m a guy, and they call my a dog, but they call girls the “b” word – for a reason. YOur bigest fan,
Chablis
Mom always loved cats but that has changed over the years. For sure she will never again have a male cat as this is her third and they have all caused huge trouble in the house. At least Sophie stays out of our way!
Cat bro Bert needs a fuzzy, square bed of his own, preferably with a heating pad under it so he will be attracted to it. It might make for more peace in the house.
He has so many cozy beds around the house and in sunny spots but he insists on using ours. Have you ever tried to get the stink of a cat out of your bed? Man, it is not an easy chore!
We get along with Cinnamon…mostly. She and Kozmo were babies together and used to wrestle. We like to play chase with her too! And when she wants her beds, she will just plunk on top of us, even if we use the paws and claws! Bert has a terrific left hook! Does he give lessons.
We just like to chase the cats and we fight with them a lot. Mom says over time it has changed with the kitties. It used to be that everyone got along. Now Mom doesn’t even get along well with the cats!
It’s a good thing you have all that hair that helps protect you! We’ve heard the phrase, “kill him with kindness,” which seems to be your current tactic about that dog bed! XOX Xena and Lucy
I offer kisses and hugs but he always is so cranky when I give them to him!
