Last weekend we went to Schaars Bluff Trailhead with our friends Crush and Marvel. It was a beautiful day out and the trails we took were all shaded in the woods. We have never been to this park before, so it was fun to explore a new place. There are several miles of trails, most with views out over the Mississippi River.
We spent about an hour hiking around. Olivia and Marvel were not on their best behavior, but what can you expect from the youngsters? Olivia was pulling the entire time. Of course, a group photo is a must, but no one would cooperate. This is the best shot we could get! Yes, there were tons of squirrels racing around, even some white ones! Mom says squirrels will be the death of her some day because we get so crazy about them!
Despite being a bit disobedient, Olivia and I did pose forΒ some photos without any fuss. Isn’t it amazing how green it is in the woods?
Speaking of squirrels, we spotted one and were on the way to capture it but Mom said sit and we just sat. We can tell from the tone in her voice when she really means what she says. At least we could still watch it escaping away.
Some parts of the trail were hilly. We hiked down a steep hill and then had to cross this stone bridge and go back up on a stairway.
I think because I am short, I get warm faster than everyone else. Maybe it is also because of being short I have to take more steps than the others too. I decided to lie down and take a break when we were almost back to our car.
The last thing we did before getting some nice cold water was to stop on this silly bridge. It is in the middle of the picnic area and goes over nothing but flat grass. We have no idea why it is there, but we thought we would take a photo on it anyway. We like Schaars Bluff Trailhead and will probably come back here when Mom is allowed to do more walking. Exploring new walking trails is always fun!
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.
Nice! That looks like it was a terrific outing!
It was fun, especially with friends.
Olivia and Marvel…too funny always up to something. I loved the group picture I’m thinking there was a squirrel up above quadruple dog daring y’all to come and get him.
Hugs Cecilia
There were tons of squirrels, even the white ones.
we have that group photo issues too… the most are made with photoshop LOL
We only post real group shots but the boys were not cooperating at all so we all messed up.
Looks like a beautiful day
It was a hot one, but the shade of the forest helped a lot.
How cool to meet up with friends and that sure looks like a fun place!
Walking with friends is always extra fun.
you made me feel better that even YOUR dogs sometimes don’t cooperate!! Gives me hope!! Love that beautiful park and woofies!
We do, but after a while we say forget it and the boys refused to cooperate.
Nice photos. Seems like you had a nice day even though it was hot.
We were home by noon, so the worst of the heat had not yet hit.
What a fun outing. I would have loved to gone along with you. You’re all so cute.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your peeps. β₯
Thank you. If you ever come to MN we will take you walking.
sure am glad you sat when you got that command! Take care of your mommy. I know you are having fun this weekend. XOXO, Sparkle
We do take care of her as best as we can. Doing what we love is good for us all as things feel normal and sniff trials are not a lot of work so it is easy on mom.
Those pesky tree rats are fun to watch, but yes, they will get a dog all riled up. Good job on sitting when you were told to sit!
May you have another play date with better results soon.
All moms have the tone of voice where we know she means business, so we sit.
Looks like a great place to spend part of an afternoon!
We went it the morning to avoid the hottest part of the day.
What a fun way to spend the day!
You know hanging out with friends is always fun.
A bridge to nowhere, huh? I’m glad you can always find some nice, shady places to walk, especially since it looks like you were still hot even in the shade!
I’m always so much warmer because of my being so close to the ground. I’m just used to it.
Looks like a trip well spent. Bridges to nowhere really so not exist – they go SOMEWHERE for SOME reason, amybe yo can sniff that out next time”?? the fearsome foresome look great on the bench!
We have no clue why the bridge is there, but we still walked over it.
But beautiful trails you found!! We love how much shade you were able to find on your hike. The park we stayed in this weekend didn’t have many shaded trails!
xoxo,
Rosy and the Gang
It was a really thick woods, thank goodness because it was hot out.
